Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

There is absolutely no way SAB won't be open for NBA teams. I would think the hotel is large enough to accommodate the teams and resort guests, but they'll want to isolate them. Plus, seems like they get a lot of family rooms allotments. AND, all the premiums rooms.

Yep, we've had this August trip planned since last December. Plus our April trip was canceled. And our June. All to YC.

DH who doesn't even like Disney but tolerates it for us, is even upset by this.

OMG... Just had a thought that I wish I could un-think. What if Storm-along bay isn't closed altogether; it's just reserved for the NBA--thus screwing over the guests at BCV. It does say "pools" under amenities. That would MESSED UP (in addition to the messed-up-ness of this generally).

That is probably exactly what’s going to happen 🤬

.

While not official, the source of the info put out the list of amenities and pools were on it so it’s a pretty good bet SAB will be open to players.

and lawn games, movies on the beach, pool and private trails. WTH????? How can they separate them from paying guests.

They’ll just block access from the walkways at the YC, that one is easy. I’m sure they’ll have the NBA resorts locked down tight. Anywhere they go won’t be accessible by regular guests.

B&C will be open. So, the view of Stormalong Bay should be fairly good to get a glimpse of players; that could be fairly interesting entertainment, though I can picture CMs telling guests to “keep moving.”

This is really crazy. All these folks who have been saying all along oh poor Disney having to sort through COVID, and that is not the case. They are just bumping people who have plane tickets and vacations planned for ages to get more money. My trip has been rescheduled three times. I check in July 20th, who knows if there will even be somewhere to move me when the time arrives. This is really awful. BTW was at Yacht CLUB , guess no longer. Just called the reservation center and they still won't even acknowledge that the hotel is off limits. They say they have no idea!!!

true. researching all this, I read somewhere that even access to resort restaurants will be limited to guests with reservations (if they even open to the public). I'm thinking they will definitely close down YC.

We are in a similar situation. spring YC CL trips canceled by Disney (who told us we could re-book with rack rate). Now our August YC CL trip will likely get bounced. Already purchased air and have vacation time. We really don't want to be moved to BC, if that's even possible. The main reason for us to go in August is to spend a chunk of time at SAB. It's one thing if SAB is not open but completely different if just not open to us.

That’s awful. Hope they tell you soon. Our trip isn’t until first week of August. Good luck

The good news is that the “worst” NBA teams coming to Orlando will be staying at the YC. So, as they are eliminated, maybe they will vacate the YC. However, if they play well and make it to playoff rounds, perhaps all remaining teams will move over to the GDT, to be close to NBA HQ. So, either way, there is a good chance that the YC will be cleared out sooner than the other two resorts, with GDT to be blocked till at least the finals are over.

I am sure that Disney will be anxious to get resorts back up and running for guests paying the higher room rates.

This will not be easy for Disney - the demands of the NBA and players will be great. They will even be swapping out some of the mattresses to larger size - probably CA King, which is longer. Disney is saying that only so many of those will be available. My understanding is that NBA hotels used by teams on the road must provide CA KING mattresses for them...maybe they will keep some of them in the guest rooms.

Yep, we moved our YC CL April trip to July 13. We also have a YC CL booked for Sept 12-18. That one was a bounceback we booked in December. Looks like no YC for us in 2020. And we generally stay CL there 2 or 3 times a year. 2020 sucks.
