Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I know a lot of us have plans that have been majorly disrupted because of this pandemic. Please be patient and know that IMHO this is NOT the year to be making the trip down to WDW :scared1:. A lot of stuff is being cancelled or downsized.

As an example the Biergarten restaurant buffet was downsized to an "ALL YOU CARE TO ENJOY" Family style serving at your socially distanced table. This has a major impact on my ability to fill a hefty sized trash bag with pretzel bread. Yes, it's a large size, but I share with my friends, ok? :cool2:

Anyway these Disney trips are a large financial undertaking. With everything that is being cancelled or rearranged please think carefully about going down to Florida. Estimates are that it will take approximately 2 years to get through all the pandemic conniptions... But know that Disney will still be there. The things that you love about it (Pretzel Bread) will be back eventually, so hang on and be safe.

If you are still planning on taking a trip, wear that mask 😷 1) because it works to keep you and everyone else safe and 2) because it's SEXY! ::yes:: Stay healthy and then be ready when things return to normal and we can do our Disney as we like! Most of all be patient. Keep in mind you are going to need A LOT of patience...

See this Disney Parks blog entry (Link below) for a detailed list of the adjustments they have made so far. Keep in mind that everyone at Disney is trying their best to make a go of it during these awful times. This experience will be different and then eventually it will get better.

So they are kicking people out of their reservations for the NBA!???
I wouldn't be sad, I would be furious. And I would want a complete refund.

I completely understand that the NBA players need to be isolated from others.
But they don't need to be in walking distance to Epcot and HS, and they get bused where they need to go with a police escort. They can stay at Disney Springs or off property, and still be at all their games and practices on time.

For those of you going to Disney this summer, I recommend you check to find out what amenities and services are changing.
My family was planning to go away for July 1-5 to one of my favorite hotels that we can drive to.
I called today to ask about what had changed, and the front desk clerk mentioned restaurants, pools and the changes there. Then I looked on line and found out that there would be no housekeeping for stays of less than 5 nights. There were other things too, but that was a deal breaker for us. The rooms are not cheap either!

Sad that we had to cancel, but more money to put toward a Disney vacation, when things are more sane!

We had Beach Club reservations checking in on Aug 26, i just pulled up the app and it now says Poly... has anyone else been changed for late Aug without notification?
Is your trip paid in full? Did you already do resort check in?
I am July and mine still says YC still

We were also switched from BC to Poly. August 26 check-in. I'll suck it up, but we prefer Epcot resorts. I asked to be switched to Boardwalk, but that's not an option right now.

No offense to the members of this thread, and I'm even staying in Beach Club in October, but, if I was magically moved to the Polynesian I'd be bouncing off the walls excited!!
Nah. there's nothing around there. At BC you can walk to two parks, all around the lake. You have the Skyliner. You have a ton of great restaurants at Swan and Dolphin in walking distance. And now that Epcot is having F&W, it's an easy in to the World Showcase. I'm SUPER bummed about being moved. Man, the more I think about it, I don't know if I want to do this.

I highly doubt they will be using SAB. There is a pool on the YC side of the resort that is out of view. Too many people in the vicinity just staring...

I also think the NBA is out of YC by Labor Day weekend. By then it's down to 8 teams. If not all are at GDT by then, maybe a few leftovers at GF. I think the resorts and SAB open around that timeframe. Pure speculation of course.

That’s an interesting theory! I’m a big NBA fan (go Celts!) and maybe they placed the teams where they did is because they know they’re not long for the playoffs. All the teams currently staying at the YC are on the “outside looking in” for the playoffs so theres a good chance they are will be gone by the playoffs start date.

YC 9/7-9/12 - no changes in my account [yet]. What's the common denominator of the Poly moves? PIF? Booked through an agent? NGL I wouldn't complain! I get wanting to be in the Epcot area/walk to 2 parks/Boardwalk/Skyliner, there's no replacement for that, but for us this is our first Deluxe stay so we'd be happy to be in just about ANY Deluxe hotel. (I am mentally preparing to be walked to BCV, and not have SAB :( But still trying to stay positive as a lot can change in 2.5 months).

I sure wouldn't be. We've never stayed there because 1) Don't like the smelly monorail and 2) really dislike being not located where the main building is. To move people without even bothering to contact them first seems pretty crappy to me.

We stayed at the Poly once and the food was AWFUL. by the end of the week we ate only cheeseburgers, dole whips and cupcakes and candy from the Halloween party. And we had anticipated going to other monorail resorts for food, did it one night and it took a shockingly long time. Each stop is 8-10 mins, security to get on at the Poly and then at the GF where we ate. Then the waiting for the monorail.

The walk to TTC was fine for us but the security lines at TTC were awful a few times and then you had another security check at Epcot (they may have done away with that one)

THe main pool was freezing too. So much so that we didn't swim in it. The entire, hot week DS played in the pirate area and DH only went down the slide with him a few times since the pool was so cold. Plus it would shut down numerous times from the kids which if that happens at SAB at least there are other areas.

And, some of the building are a hike to the main lobby for a drinks, snack etc.

Poly rant done. It's our third choice if YC closed and can't get into BC or SAB closed in August. But we would not be happy about it honestly.

Oh no! I didn’t even realize that the rooms at Poly weren’t in the main building. Totally agree about the smelly monorail. We much prefer walking everywhere.

It is not paid in full, I had already completed online check-in. That is what triggered us to look at it. My husband opened his app and he got a pop-up that said to complete online check-in, he said didnt you already do this and i said yes so he went to review it and thats when we found the change.

Completely agree! We stayed there 2 years ago as a celebration splurge and honestly had the worst resort experience we have ever had. I am hopeful that this stay will be a completely different experience and that we will grow to love Poly like so many others do. 😊
