Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Are you serious?????? Wow! Well if that’s the case you’re definitely going to have a higher percentage of positives!

Yep. They FINALLY just rolled out "free testing to anyone"....with symptoms who is unable to get a test from a doctor. Doctors can only test people with symptoms or close contacts of confirmed positive cases (i.e. same household or direct caregivers).

I have a friend here in San Diego County who had not left her house in months and still wanted to test just to see. 🤦‍♀️ It was negative.

Also, our confirmed number of cases works out to 0.3% of our population, so it's not bad at all here, even with more recent cases.

Here's the San Diego dashboard data: https://sdcounty.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/30b5e0fa2a5f4404b1219d8cd16b2583

I can't link our hospital information, but if largely tracks in line with county.

It's on an uptick this past 7 days unfortunately. We've been fortunate in staying low during the surge and lockdown, but with reopening, we're seeing the same as rest of nation -- uptick and primary population 20-30s which tracks who are venturing out more with the reopening.

https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...strict-at-disneyland-resort-beginning-july-9/They did an update for DTD opening. The highlights I see are:
- Parking will be at the Simba lot; no mention if parking will be free. Which brings me to another question. If you have a pass with parking on it, could you use it?
- Masks requirement. You have to bring your own.
- They didn't mention what stores and restaurants will be open
- Operating hours will be 10-8pm.

I finally got around to reading the "fine print" on the WDW reservation system and it seems that if it works the same way at DL, it would not be unlikely for the parks to have extremely low attendance the first month after opening.

WDW is applying the regular blockout calendar to APs; applied to DL, that would mean that until the August 17 "summer blockouts" lift, the only passholder access would be for Signature, Signature+, and Flex. I know there was conjecture that the Flex pass was created to allow Disney a way to allow summer access at a lower price while still controlling crowds (which makes me think there was a declining number of Signature passholders), but since there was only one summer of experience with that pass, I'm not sure how many people transitioned over from other pass types.

It's hard to imagine anyone but Disney diehards venturing out for the reduced experience that will come immediately after opening at full price. I know people are concerned about Disney not extending the expiration date of already-purchased tickets, but if I were someone coming for a first visit or a very rare visit, I'd much rather have the voucher value of those to use next year than rush to come for a visit this summer.

I had been hesitating about our July 31 trip amid concerns of crowds and the climbing case numbers in the area, but I'm thinking it might not be so bad with these limits (side note, if I had purchased either a higher level or lower level pass, I'd be really ticked if the reservation system mimics WDW -- the Signature and Deluxe passholders aren't getting the benefit of the unlimited days they were promised and the SoCal passholders will face another month of no access after losing out on prime spring days. There may be many Signature passholders who opt to take a refund instead, which would be another reason crowds might be lower). I can also imagine a lot of pent up demand going into the fall after the blockouts lift, which would be another reason for us to go ahead and go in July in case we miss a chance to go in the fall.

Does anyone know how to link a Grand Californian reservation in the system? We have GC booked for January 2021; and will need to purchase tickets and make park reservations whenever that is possible. I'm assuming having an onsite hotel reservation would help. This is a DVC reservation, and the reservation number is much longer than the 8 digits allowed on the Disneyland website where I would normally link the reservation.
I need to do the same. Have reservation at GC for August. Need tix and park res

We have a trip scheduled July 23-27 at GCH. DH and I are AP holders but our son isn't and we'll need to get him a ticket. This weekend I saw park hoppers available at our local Fred Meyer store (Kroger). Does anyone know if I could get one of those and link it to our account? I've only ever bought PH's on lastminute and way.com.

Sorry this might be listed here but I just want to double check something. We had reservations back in April, that obviously got cancelled. I made reservations for GCH for July 25 (only time we could go). I wasn't able to purchase a package with hotel and tickets and of course couldn't purchase my tickets at that time separately.

So as things move forward, am I just waiting for ticket purchase and then I got pass reservations for the days we are there?

Will staying at the hotel help us get tickets/pass reservations? Is there a possibility that we will get tickets and not get pass reservations to get in the parks?

I know this is confusing for everyone. I sure appreciate any help!

*raises hand* This is me! I'm the only one in my family with a pass, (Flex) and if I can get a reservation, I will be there! (I already have a cheap hotel booked, fully cancellable) If I had to pay full price for a ticket, probably not worth it, and there's no way I would take my little kids (with full priced tickets especially) when they had to wear a mask in the heat of July or August. It would not be a good value for the experience, especially with limited entertainment, and probably hours. Also, children are generally less sanitary than adults, and of course we really would rather NOT get covid if we can help it.... I am a big attractions person though, and Disneyland-obsessed, and would love to be there opening day, and maybe a few other times during the reservation season, even though it's a 6 hour drive from AZ.

Oh, we're definitely in that category too. We got Flex passes as a family Birthday/Christmas gift last year and have already missed two planned trips, including our Dapper Day plans. I was supposed to go with my best friend on this July trip but she hadn't bought their tickets yet and isn't inclined to go anyway with the restrictions (her kids are younger), so it would just be me and my two kids (my husband has to skip since he just started a new job and doesn't have any vacation). My 11-year old has spent inordinate amounts of our shelter-in-place time planning different Disneybound outfits that she wants to wear. She isn't thrilled about having to wear a mask, but we picked out a couple of cute Disney ones from Etsy. My 9-year old is more on the fence, especially since I told him we might want to quarantine for a few days after we get back and he wouldn't get to go to his summer care. We have Southwest tickets and fully cancellable hotel reservations, so we'll play it by ear up to the last minute in deciding whether to go, assuming we can get a park reservation.

So I will be the odd one out. We are first-time visitors to Disneyland (Disney-anything, actually), traveling with a five-year-old, and paying full boat. We are trying like the dickens to get there in August. I actually think there are some advantages to being first-timers during a pandemic 🙂 For example, the crowds will be low. One of the biggest complaints I've heard from family and friends is that DL was too crowded and the lines were too long. I'm not sure how the lines thing is going to work, but crowds shouldn't be a problem!

Also, literally everything is going to be new to us. We will be awed by Mainstreet, stumped by the hidden Mickeys everyone else has already found, and excited to ride even the lowliest A-ticket. My son doesn't know that meet-and-greets, parades, or fireworks were ever an option, so he won't miss them. We don't have a favorite ride or restaurant that won't be open. All the treats are new. He will be THRILLED by the PPH waterslide.

We are a bit disappointed that it looks like much of SWGE will be closed, but--since we're first-timers 😉--ROTR, MF:SR, Dok Onders, and Droid Depot (and hopefully Oga's!) will provide our Star Wars fix, and missing the rest just means we will have to come back another year. And when we do, it will be basically like a brand new trip! We can check out the rides, restaurants, parades, shows, and shops we didn't get to see this time. Also, The Boy will be a bit older and I'm thinking Savi's would make a heckuva father-son bonding experience for two Star Wars obsessives.

Now if Sacramento would just give them the go-ahead already!!
