I think D&B needs to make a 2020 Disney Closure design for all of us who made it through the Closure, the lockdown (wherever we live), the insanity, the chaos, the shortages, etc. We could sport them proudly as badges of courage and survival!
I wholeheartedly agree! Add in a hidden toilet paper Mickey just for fun too 🤣

It's finally happening!!! :cool1: A link to this article will be added to the News section of the first post for easy reference.

Disneyland Resort Proposes Plans to Begin Phased Reopening July 9, with Proposed Reopening

Sixty-five years to the date after the historic opening of Disneyland park, we are planning to open our theme park gates once again on July 17, 2020, welcoming guests back to the Disneyland Resort.

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products today announced proposed plans for a phased reopening of the Disneyland Resort. Pending state and local government approvals, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel plan to reopen on July 23, and Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park will plan to reopen on July 17. Additionally, Downtown Disney District will begin reopening on July 9.

Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, the Disneyland Resort will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be subject to availability. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon. At this time, there will also be a temporary pause on new ticket sales and Annual Passport sales and renewals. Additional details will be available soon. Please check Disneyland.com for the most current information.

Once approved, the Disneyland Resort will reopen with enhanced health and safety measures. In addition, a Guest Experience Team will be available throughout the parks and Downtown Disney District to assist guests with questions regarding these new policies.

Certain experiences that draw large group gatherings – such as parades and nighttime spectaculars – will return at a later date. While character meet and greets will be temporarily unavailable, characters will be in the parks in new ways to entertain and delight guests.

Pending governmental approval, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa are planned to reopen to guests and members starting on July 23. Plans to support physical distancing as well as increased cleaning measures, along with a number of other health and safety protocols, will be implemented as part of the phased reopening of the hotels and the Vacation Club.

Downtown Disney District will begin reopening on July 9 in line with the state’s reopening guidelines, with its unique variety of shopping and dining experiences, including the flagship World of Disney store. With the health of guests and Disney cast members at the forefront of planning, several operational changes will be implemented based on guidance from health authorities to promote physical distancing and cleanliness throughout the Downtown Disney District.

Additional information on enhanced health and safety measures and operational changes for reopening locations will be shared soon. These policies are under continuous review and are subject to change as the Disneyland Resort monitors conditions and receives guidance from health and government authorities.

Disneyland holds a special place in the hearts of people around the world. It was created as a place where family members of all ages could have fun together – a place to “leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy.” Sixty-five years later it still is.

It’s time for magic – and we look forward to welcoming you back.

I booked Embassy Suites South December 12 to 16. We will only go if things are somewhat normal so there is a huge chance we will cancel and go late 2021. Fingers crossed!

I've added you to the list! Yes, fingers crossed that things will go well, and DL will be able to open more attractions and experiences by the time we all go.

Hi Everyone!
I've added the following links to the first post, so everyone will be able to easily find the latest news on the DLR reopening.

DLR Reopening Resources:
Disneyland Official Site for Reopening Information:
DISboards DLR Superthread:

The Superthread will have the latest updates as we find out more information.

However, never lose hope if you hear something will be happening during the initial reopening that isn't what you wanted! A lot can change between July and December, so just keep an eye out for updates in the next few months.

For those that were wondering about masks at DLR, I believe this was added to the official DLR reopening page on 6/12/2020 indicating masks will be required for the initial reopening.

Also note that at WDW, masks are required for ages 2 and up. No official word yet at DLR, but we are expecting the same age requirement unless we hear otherwise.

For those of you (also me) who do not have park tickets for a booked December trip...are your purchasing them now through a 3party vendor? I keep going back and forth on this decision. I would purchase Four 5 day, 1 park per day passes and thinking I should because if the reservation system continues I will need tickets ahead of time. I don't want to get stuck without a way to purchase tickets later (is that even possible?🤷‍♀️). We are staying at Villas in the GCH. WWYD?

I am waiting to purchase personally. We are staying off-site, (if we go), and I want to see how the reservation system works first.

On a side note, my seven year old looked at me today and said how much she misses the smells and sounds of Disneyland. She could not be any more like me.

Yes, my kids want to be there when it opens back up. We’ll be lucky if we get to be there in December! I do want to see how the reservation system works, because there’s no sense in buying 5day pass and can only make reservations for 2 days. So many unknowns¿?

I just booked December 4th to the 9th and added an extra day to my hotel stay for the following weekend as well. I've been during Candlelight Processional before and swore is never go again but here I am booking. I have Hilton Anaheim booked for the first weekend and Embassy Suites South for the following. I just stayed at Hilton in March and absolutely loved it. My daughter's birthday falls on the second week so that would be fun. Now to wait and see how the reservation system works, if masks will still be required, and to choose which weekend to go. Gaah, it is a lot of wait and see.

Well we cancelled our Christmas trip today. I know it’s 6 months away but there is just too much uncertainty. We were borrowing our DVC points and I wanted to ensure we would get them returned. Our 7 year old is severely autistic and will not wear a mask. Here’s hoping next December is closer to normal!!

I've added your new dates to the list! I completely get it. I got so paranoid about the reservation system that I now have a hotel reservation for each of the first 3 weeks of December, depending on when I can get park reservations. I'm glad I got a good hotel rate, because I may end up paying so much more for last-minute airfare once I know which week I'll be going.

I'm so sorry this year's trip won't be happening for you and your family. We hope to see you here next year planning your trip!

I might be going sometime the first week of December.. 3-6? We had a large family trip planned and that’s cancelled now. Normally my mom and I take my kids but she’s not willing to travel until she can get a vaccine. So depending on how everything is come December, I might take my kids. I miss Disneyland so much right now. I hope the trip happens.

I changed my hotel for the second weekend to Hilton Anaheim. It was $10 per night cheaper and we really liked it last time. Starbucks in the lobby is like a dream come true for me.

I'm really struggling with this trip, yeah I know first world problems, I want to go so bad. I am leaning towards going even if masks are still required. I've been looking at the gaiter style and feel like that might be doable.

This year has sucked and I am sure a DL trip would make the end of it way better. We're were supposed to leave on July 31st for our 10 year anniversary trip to Maui and had to cancel that. We did save a lot of money though and I hear Disney calling for me to spend it there!

I've added your tentative dates to the list! Feel free to post your update once your plans are solidified.

I've adjusted your hotel for the 2nd week. I'm sorry your Maui trip got cancelled, but more Disney money is a good consolation prize!

We're heading to Disneyland December 11-15, followed by Kauai (fingers crossed!). Staying at the BWPPI again, as usual.

Unfortunately we've decided to cancel this year's holiday visit - heartbreaking. It's hard to see the trip not feeling like a shadow of what we are used to, and we're going to wait it out until things stabilize a bit. :worried:
