Resort Change by Disney

We *just* got his custom wheelchair/stroller hybrid and OMG what a difference! It's a Convaid Cruiser and it was *NOT* cheap - almost $4k!! But thankfully his SSI Medicaid paid for it. It's completely outfitted with custom supports and straps though, so he'll be able to use it for a long time - especially since he's very tiny for his age.
Our both have g tubes, one is “skinny”’and one is “chunky” lol. Chunky can take very small tastes of real food, and they have him on a higher calorie feed recipe. Thank the Lord for SSI Medicaid. We could never afford the 2 standers, walker, 2 gait trainers, creepster crawler and specialized chairs we have! Right now, while they are “little( 2.5 and 4.5) we can use the double stroller as “wheelchair” but I know that won’t last long. 😢. They don’t make a “double wheelchair” so not sure how I will get them out when I am alone with 2 wheelchairs! Anyway, have a great trip and I hope you get a resort switch that works out perfectly for you all!❤️

I have a stay later this year at AKL. Think we should call to see about a move or wait it out to see if they announce another opening date?

Man that is my question too...I so don't want to call and wait on hold. I got the emails and clicked on "I intend to come" and it said they would be in touch if they needed to move me. After reading everyone talking about calling and moving, I opened up a chat...the person wasn't sure so she checked with someone else and said I could wait and see. I waited a few days and nothing so I chatted again today and someone said I had to call and she couldn't tell me what would happe if I didn't, I immediately opened another chat window and that person assured me I could wait for them to contact me if they had to move me. WHO KNOWS! I have a September 2020 split stay...it's my middle three days that aren't scheduled to open at AKL

I wouldn't wait too long. We had a standard room at WL for mid: November. Called today and got moved to a one-bedroom at BRV. I know some were moved to BLT and VGF, but those were not offered. I am.pleased with the upgrade, though I know the room is desperate for a refurb. Oh, and the wait time for a CM was five minutes.

Good to know! Maybe I will call tomorrow.

drat I was sorta hoping for a move to Kidani bc I specifically picked it for the animals, and I already have nights at the other areas, beach club and copper creek. This was my stay for animal kingdom.

We agree too..... We had a split stay,WL &
AKL. We received a call yesterday from
Disney saying “We are sorry but WL will closed this year and next year. We aren’t
sure when and if WL will be open . You are now staying at GF. Have A Magical Day”
Today we went on the chat...,waited five minutes . Chat online ask us to fill out form
and someone will call you. So we waited.
The main reason why we went on the chat is to find out about our tickets are in limbo. We called at 7:00am and couldn’t believe what was said “We are experiencing heavy call volume’s at this time please hold on” so we did. Every so often it sound like someone was going to answer. So around 10 am we went on to chat . We think it took about 2 hours for some to call, but wrong guest information. She put us on hold , twenty minutes , she was back. She apologized for wait and said “O did you received a call from
Disney? “ We said yes. WL is closed and we are moved to GF. She then said that not what she meant. She then told us about AKL not going to be open this year and maybe not next year. She then apologized again say
“We must fix this. O my. I do have to tell you
the system won’t let me do this. I have to call a special team. Sorry to say you are going to be on long hold. Please hold on” We waited and waited, almost 3 hours right when
“ it’s a small world “ the line went dead. Check my phone, not mine .....
So again went to the chat line explained and filled out another form. Someone called at
8:30 tonight very short on the phone....
“ Hello Disney calling you have reservations at Kidani 1 bedroom Savanna Villa. Have a nice Day” and then phone went out again.
So I guess Tuesday I call or chat to find out what happen to tickets ,once they removed the dinning , we went from package to room only.

Did anyone originally book reservations through hotels.com for a hotel that is not scheduled to open (i.e. Port Orleans Riverside)? Did Disney help you?

If & when it’ll be open? 😱 it’s my husband’s favorite resort.

I still have my reservation for Sports on 7/5-7/9, which I'm not going to use but only keep to see what will happen to it. I still have never received any communication from Disney that anything is amiss. Yesterday, for fun I selected my magicbands, which the website stated will be at the check-in desk for me at Sports on 7/5. MDE is like a portal into a parallel universe.

My instinct is waiting is better. If they are filling with smaller upgrades first, then waiting could mean those are full and you get a bigger upgrade.
Not sure i agree, because deluxes generally have lower capacity than mods/values, and people are being moved out of closed deluxes to open deluxes. Plus DVC members can still book room stays at deluxe DVC resorts for 2020. With the reduced capacity contraints, seems like the better resorts will be the ones to fill up first.

DVC customer service indicates DVC resorts are subject to the exact same Florida restrictions the non DVC properties are. It would defeat the entire reopening plan to have a separate policy fo the DVC resorts. All it took was one call to confirm this.
I do wonder though if the entire resort (DVC plus non-DVC sides) is being considered for capacity constraints though. So for example, I'm at the Poly Villas at a time when the Poly non-DVC is not open--I could easily see them selling out the villas and still saying the resort is at half capacity because all the regular rooms are empty. But even if they are filling the DVC side to the brink, I would expect the resort to be a lot quieter during my stay just because it had shared facilities to begin with, and the hotel side is unoccupied. The real test will be how full something like the Riviera that is all DVC is.

Disney has said on their website that if they do not hear from you they will cancel your reservation 7 days prior to arrival. I think it is doubtful that you will hear from them if that is the case. Is it room only or a package? That could make a difference.

i clarified that with Disney, that is for stays before the parks open only!

So, it's been nearly a week since I switched from Wilderness Lodge to CR. My price protection processed and it's all good on that end, but the WL reservation is still showing in MDE along with the CR reservation. Do I need to do something about this? I'm confused why it's still there.

thats another thing my TA said. Maybe by waiting I’ll luck into a better resort... but with my luck there will be nothing left..

I don’t think they will run out of space. That’s why they aren’t taking new 2020 reservations until they sort it all out

You’ve got to be kidding. I called yesterday morning, and was told that my December WL king room wasn’t eligible for a move to CCV or BRV, only to another deluxe hotel rather than a deluxe villa. A 1 bdrm at BRV would have been perfect. We eventually negotiated a std room at Poly, but we would have much rather stayed at WL. The utter lack of logic and consistency is absolutely killing me.

I don't think that it has anything to do with a "lack of logic" but more-so with inventory available at the time. The villas could be more booked up (or completely booked) in December and CM's are only allowed to give certain blocks of rooms to guests changing resorts. Yes, understandably the consistency isn't the best, but keep in mind there's a matrix in place as well as possible inventory issues. Maybe they don't want a guest with a king room to take a 1+ bedroom villa because a larger party can stay there and maybe the studios were booked up. (Yeah, there were posts about 2-person stays getting 1,2 bedroom villas but I believe this was for stays prior to parks opening)

DVC is most likely full for December. They can't just move you to a DVC room that isn't there. They only have so many rooms they keep for inventory and December is extremely popular for DVC often filling up at 11 months out.
