Fireworks?

Where are you getting your fireworks figures? I’ve never found anything conclusive but the best guess people seemed to agree on was $50,000 a night. That’s $1 per guest on an average MK day.

And thats $50,000 more thats going into their pockets per night that they don’t have them. The comparison was the cost of the Fireworks are paid for by the Dessert Party’s, and thats not true. You’re also not taking into account how much money it takes to run the park on a daily basis. Yes, literal math would tell you its $1 per guest on an average day, but thats not how you’d justify the fireworks price point. Maybe from a guest standpoint, but not the company

I'd love it if they would bring back some classic fireworks..though it won't be in time for my last weekend of August "staycation" at the Contemporary, tower room, theme park view...

Disney is watching cash closely. $350,000 a week in savings is nothing to sneeze at (off the estimates given). Between that and a risk of people congregating at night when it's harder to enforce. I think fireworks are gonna be a long time away ☹️

Of course, they have enormous parking lots...I'm surprised they haven't tried to figure out the Seaworld plan at the MK lots...

Too much view obstruction between where they shoot them off and where the lots are, it would be pointless. The Poly beach is situated at a perfect location to view them.

If they decided to do what Seaworld is doing, they’d put on a much cheaper show, and it would be geared more towards the monorail resort guests. And if they put on a cheaper show, I’d be worried they’d think they could pull that off when they are eventually brought back.

They’ll for sure be back before the 50th celebration begins unless something absolutely tragic occurs in terms of the continuation of the pandemic. My guess is a March-April return at the MK and DHS. October-November (2020) for EPCOT, but I might be generous with that one

When MK night parade went people said it would be back. Likewise DHS parade. Also AK parade I think to.

Right now I assume fireworks will be back at MK at some point, I dont think anything should be taken for granted. There likely will be cost cutting though. Perhaps not daily. Maybe only peak seasons. We'll have to wait and see.

How would that work for all other resort guests without cars?

Seaworld has folks pay to park and sit in their cars or outside their cars in "their spot" as an "extra" that doesn't have anything to do with ticket holder entertainment. So, it can work as any outside entertainment can. I mean, I guess the guests can pay Disney to bus them and then have distanced chairs for them (since the fireworks cost at Sea World for the "spot" on site to view them)...

It's replacing pricey dessert parties with less pricey, but all must pay, requirements to see the night show...

Yellow circle is where the fireworks are shot off. The best possible, unobstructed views would be in the Ursula or Mulan lots all the way to far back left of the mulan lot and far back right of the Ursula lot. And I’m not even sure that you can see them from those lots.

They could make the entire main street street (sidewalks for traffic) and the hub a fp/reservation only socially distanced viewing area, with spots being available to reserve ahead of time. SW did something similar for the 4th of July. Your spot could also come with an exit direction to prevent crowding afterwards.

At Magic, the fireworks are not shot off from the yellow circle. It's actually on the other side of Floridian Way, closer to the MK back fence (Red circle labeled MK Fireworks pad). It would be down and right of the circle. It's a small area, to the left of the old RCFR station (Larger red circle).

Doesn't change the viewing areas, but having been a Transportation CM, I know exactly where the fireworks are launched from.

Thanks for the clarification. It wasn’t easy to find the information by looking it up, I saw what looked like could be a firework launch and assumed that was it. But yeah, it really doesn’t make the viewing angle any easier from the parking lots at TTC, it might even be worse.

If Disney could pull it off, they probably would (and charge people), but their lot is just situated in a bad spot to view and hear them to make it worth it for either party

They could always just "sell" socially distanced designated spots at diff price points throughout the magic Kingdom. Left of castle, center of castle, main st right of castle, fantasyland. Depending on view could determine price point. No desert parties. Just spread out locations of parties paying a significant amt to view fireworks. Close mk at 7 Get everyone out. Reentry with a ticket for fireworks beginning at 845. Firework show at 930.

Maybe start with 3 nights a week until kinks worked out

That wouldn’t go over well for people that paid for day tickets at the same price that they paid 4.5 months ago for a full day ticket that included fireworks

I understand people not being happy with it but times are not ideal right now. I think some would be willing to pay for a socially distanced firework experience. Maybe offer to AP and resort guests first, then what isnt filled to other guests, like park reservations were handled? If there was a way it could be organized to be safe it would be a temporary fix for present times.

Any guesses on when fireworks might return? I believe Busch Gardens had some this month.

For disney to start them up now they'd have to totally redo the show (i.e. not based on being in front of the castle, etc). So my bet is not till next year with late this year possible with improvemeent

My vacation starts Monday. A week at Poly. Fireworks from the pool not happening has me quite sad. Nonetheless, we are going to go to Seaworld just to get the fireworks fix. We got passes there because my WDW passes were just pieces of plastic due to me having a resort stay. I've been impressed with SeaWorld, and am thinking the value for the park experience may change my Disney habits in the future. The SW fireworks show is impressive.

Yes, I'm concerned even when it's safe , to be extra extra extra safe they will be delayed..(also money saving)

Just a hypothetical, but if Disney can still attract people to return to the parks in significant numbers then why would they bring back fireworks?

I keep thinking of how the advantages of staying onsite have eroded away. I know I'm sounding pessimistic, but as long as they were filling up the resorts they no longer needed to provide the extra perks, and they slowly faded away. I'm thinking the same might happen with other "extras" like the fireworks. The covid pandemic is a good opportunity for Disney to do some long term cost cutting.
