This one is also super prevalent. Some medical professionals have worn a mask 8-12 hours every day for decades. Yet, people think they're going to die of carbon monoxide poisoning from wearing a mask to the grocery store for 30 minutes. (And, about half the people I see don't even have the mask covering their nose anyway)

Stupidest thing about that is, we don't produce carbon monoxide.

Wait. I saved the best for last. My neighbor and I like her said that dems. can't get covid 19.

Move to Washington State. They don't make you register with a political party to vote in their primaries. Can can pick and chose candidates from any party. They way it should be.

In MA you don't need to be registered with a party to vote in a primary, but you do need to pick one or the other to vote in. There's a ballot for the republican primary and a ballot for the democratic party and you can't do both.

My sons school is going back in person (that’s the plan for now anyway). There was an article written and shared on fb about the school going back. The school also has a virtual option for anyone who would prefer it. One commenter responded multiple times on the post that anyone choosing the virtual option was crazy for letting the “government” officials into their homes. They went on and on about how the parents need to wake up and see that they are giving “them” access into their personal homes and how wrong that is. Then another commenter responded to her response agreeing with her and saying how teachers are being trained to listen to families private conversations through the use of online school so that they can report abuse to the authorities! It was shocking to say the least, it‘s like they truly believe they are living in the book 1984! I didn’t even bother to respond, there’s no talking to that kind of crazy!

Sorry to derail the discussion, but you can vote cross ticket in a partisan primary? One party for one race and another party for a different race? That makes no sense. In Wisconsin there is no party registration and you can vote for whatever party you wish in a partisan primary. Everything is on the same ballot, but you can only vote within one party. Splitting your votes between parties in a partisan primary is not allowed.

I was just reading through the comments for opening schools in our area (they were anonymous comments sent to the Board via a survey, then posted). This one caught my eye:

And expecting government employees to take a 30% wage reduction to support those unable to work? Not sure how that helps. It just means more people will be in dire financial straits. How is that good for any economy?

Here are two crazy things I've heard:

Actually, people are considered non contagious 10 days after testing positive. My daughter’s boyfriend was supposed to come on vacation with us. He tested last Sunday, he was positive. The cdc called him and gave him this information (also considered not contagious 4 days fever free, but he wasn’t sick). They told him he might get a positive test for up to 6 weeks.

This is the most ridiculous and dangerous idea. There is no guarantee that a vaccine will even happen. The fear is insane and not proportional to the danger. The public needs to be braver. We have somehow moved from "flatten the curve" to "one case is too many."

The primaries aren't partisan. All candidates are in one list. There are no republican ballots or democrat ballots. The top 2 candidates advance to the final election in November. In November you may have two democrats, two republicans, one of each, or a third party candidate in the mix for each elected office.

I said I agree with him that part of the problem is relying on a single doctor rather than a panel of doctors that can discuss what practices work best.

Do you know why you don’t see many professors that went to the same school that they work? It’s because they don’t like that. They want to get different viewpoints to come to a better result.

I friend of mine has been posting article after article citing that Texas doctor who says HCQ is a "cure" for covid... you know, the same doctor who counsels that reproductive health issues are a product of dream sex with demons and vaccines contain alien DNA. The funniest part? The friend is a nurse practitioner!

I don't mind if a partisan hack on one side of the aisle goes after a partisan hack on the other side. They should avoid going after apolitical government employees.

I don't think disagreeing with someone has to be political. Which goes to my point that one doctor may have an opinion that another doctor may not share. If you had a panel of doctors that could come to a consensus then that would be much more powerful than a single person presenting his argument.
