The WDW Comeback: Before/After Game

Sorry, couldn't imagine that something that's been out for more than a month would need spoiler tags. Shouldn't have tried to be funny. Especially when the actual season ended a week ago. But sorry anyway.
Nah, you read me wrong. No harm done. :grouphug:

investor call talked about Christmas 21. Yes most will be in 22 but we’re still looking at before 3/22 per the Question.
Yes, but since the last episode of season 2 aired and a new show was announced, Favreau stated that season 3 of Mando will most likely be premiering early 2022 now due to filming of that other show. Trying to stay spoiler free here.

but yeah with the new boba fett announcement does confuse the dates some but I think we’re still looking at before 3/22
Disney and other various sources have said 2022 now. Fett will be December 2021.

Topic 3: There are rumors that Fantasmic! with social distancing will be returning early next year.
Will it return Before or After 4/5/2021?

Before: 1
After: 12

My take: With park hopping back, I kind of expect a nighttime show to return in the near future. We'll have to see if that rumor pans out or not. Attendance is also expected to be down after the holidays, this would be on one way to lure guests back.

Topic 4: The Mando Presence
Will this happen Before or After 3/1/2022

Before: 5
After: 5
Never: 1

My take: As @skeeter31 pointed out, this wasn't a true comeback thing from something missing. But it would help with their overall comeback. I do believe this was something on their radar and the popularity of the show makes it very likely the duo will have a presence at some point.

Topic 5: The Missing Signature Dining Restaurants
Will any of these restaurants open permanently Before or After: 5/1/21?
  • Flying Fish
  • Jiko
  • Monsieur Paul
  • Takumi-Tei
  • Victoria & Albert’s
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse
Bonus: I'd be interested to hear which ones you expect to open first and last if you want to include them, even if you chose After.

This is a tough one. I believe I’ll go after for all of them. My first thought was they would open when the hotel side of resorts reopen, but in the case of Yachtsman, the resort is open but this still remains closed. I’m think Disney will just keep the signatures closed for the foreseeable future as they realize by having them closed it’s not really impacting the bottom line. I’m sure the chefs in these restaurants get paid more than chefs in non signature and without DDP they know they won’t be filling these restaurants regularly.

As for the bonus, I think Flying Fish would be the first to reopen (if they all just don’t reopen at once) due to its location on the boardwalk. Jiko and V&A would be my guess for last to reopen based on location (for Jiko as AKL seems to be the most neglected resort) and niche market for V&A. I think a place like Citricos would reopen before V&A.

Monsieur Paul is being used as overflow space for Chefs right now.

I don’t see Jiko opening until AKL proper does.

Flying Fish probably also until BW opens.

Takumi-Tei is likely too small of a space to work with right now but that has potential to open before.

V&As also has potential to open before.

Yachtsmen I think will be the next to open. It likely won’t happen until BC opens tho.

Topic 2: When will Disney start selling new Annual Passes again?
Will it return Before or After 3/31/2021?
After 3/31/2021 -- I don't see them feeling they need to sell Annual Passes if people are still coming without them. NOT having them also just encourages the existing AP holders to renew them -- since they don't know if they can ever get them again.

Unfortunately this current policy of not selling them hurts the "every other year" families or just current guests who want to go a few times this year with a little bit of cost savings.

I definitely see (after skeeter on these forums mentioned it) it as less of a "safety" thing .. and more of a "push people to stay onsite" thing. Draw guests back with resort discounts rather than sell APs and have those guests stay at the much cheaper accommodations offsite.

Will it return Before or After 4/5/2021?
Note: Sunday, 4/4 is Easter

Topic 4: The Mando Presence
With the massive success of Mandalorian, when will Hollywood Studios add a Meet and Greet or a new experience specifically with Mando and "Baby Yoda".

Will Mando and "Baby Yoda" either be featured in:
  • A Meet & Greet (including modified with social distancing) anywhere at Hollywood Studios, such as:
    • Star Wars Launch Bay
    • Celebrity Spotlight (replacing Olaf)
    • Batuu (ignoring the timeline/story issues that it causes)
    • Anywhere else at DHS
  • A parade or march of some kind
  • Or will they add a new experience/simulator in Star Tours featuring the new characters?
The delimiter is beyond what they have now (Magic shot and Merchandise)

Will this happen Before or After 3/1/2022. If you think it will never happen, go ahead and vote Never. I’ll include those answers as well.

Happy holidays all.

EDIT: Removed the names of the characters just in case you haven't seen S1 or S2 yet.

Topic 3
I could see Fantasmic opening before Easter .. it is a large stadium. They can easily put a show there and social distance (and not even that far apart .. I mean the stadium is OUTDOORS).

Topic 4
IF they bring back M&Gs .. and IF they continue with Launch Bay (I personally wish they wouldn't now that SWGE is open) .. I could see them turning one of them into a Baby Yoda M&G or Mando one.

I could also see Mando-themed scene or two in Star Tours as well ..

I would have to say BEFORE 3/1/2022. Any time after that and it may be "too little too late" (like how SWGE was "too little too late" to actually promote the sequel trilogy (which Lucasfilm has seemingly abandoned from a marketing perspective).

After. Like others said, I don't see them doing this until things are more "normal", and as Rteetz said, regular tickets make them more money, and right now, they want money.

Except they don't because someone will buy a shorter term ticket and then just not be back for another year. I would agree if they were at 100% capacity after day.

i think V&A is the only one which will reopen in its prior form. And even in that case it’s definitely an AFTER

the remaining restaurants will open after as well but i see different dining concepts which will take substantially less staff to operate.

After again.

I'm willing to be a lot of them have to be "re-opened" and staffed again which will take some time after vaccines get out there.

Jiko probably opens first.

Someone was able to upgrade Florida resident tickets to APs. Those with previously canceled APs are also getting new ones. They aren’t reactivating the canceled ones. It’s a brand new AP with new start and end date.

Not to detail the thread but can you tell me in which thread that was mentioned? I have tried the phone and DS and was denied the ability to upgrade.

This was someone on twitter. They went to Disney springs. They were previously AP holders. They had FL resident tickets and upgraded them to new APs at DS.

I'm going to take a pass on specifics as I don't do signature dining, but I will say after for all. Covid restrictions just do not lend themselves to fine dining. When we are done with masks, then fine dining will return in abundance. That won't be before May.
