Oga's Cantina: Is it worth it?

I am trying to book a visit to Oga's but Im having trouble finding a good time. I did get a 9:50am but taking my family to a bar that early in the am seems a little irresponsible. The website says the experience is modified so Im trying to decide if it is worth going. Is this a must do or is it not worth it? This will be our first trip to Star wars and our last for a while. Trying to make the most of it.

Its a very small Venue. I wouldn't count on getting a better time slot. You may get Lucky and have someone cancel, But Its not common. Just watch some of the videos on YouTube or the Blogs and maybe that will help you and your family decide.

I am not sure what it means by a modified experience. We have been to the one in WDW and DL. We had more of an immersive experience at DL. The cast members were really in character and included everyone in their skit. At WDW, it was still fun, but not as immersive. I am not sure what it means for modified experience. If you are a Star Wars fan, I say go for it. There is a lot of details to notice.

Happy Planning!

If that is the only time you can get, it’s fine! They have a bunch of fun non alcoholic drinks if drinking at that hour is not your thing. It’s worth seeing.

The only time we’ve been was in the morning. I consider it more of an experience than a bar. It has a cool atmosphere.

While I really enjoy Star Wars and all of Galaxy's Edge is amazing, you need to know at Oga's you are paying for the experience. Currently it is my understanding is that you are taken to your table, which you a either going to be seated or standing and you stay at your table, not supposed to roam around and see all the amazing details. Even before Covid you were limited to 2 drinks and I think 45 minutes and you weren't supposed to roam until you'd finished your drinks.

So look at the menu, see if there are a few things you'd like to expreince at 9:30 AM and decide if it's for you. I would say keep trying for a later time slot, you might get lucky the day before or day of.

I've been to both Oga's (WDW/DL) and enjoyed it, but if you are not really into Star Wars much of it will be lost. It's small, in fact it's way to small to really be enjoyed. They should have at least doubled the size. If you know what hidden mickey's are, then think of the many artifacts at Oga's as hidden mickey's - they are some really cool items to be found, if you have help or know your Star Wars lore.

OP people cancel often, keep checking.

It’s so much fun. Fortunate to have enjoyed both versions multiple times. SW fans, it just doesn’t get old for us

JMHO but absolutely no plans to revisit now until things settle down. Just too tight of an environment for my liking.

We had a 9:30am ADR and I really wasn’t feeling like having an adult beverage so early in the am until they offered the daily special - bloody rangkor/Bloody Mary. It was tasty and we also had the charcuterie platter....we enjoyed the experience but probably wouldn’t do it again in CA or FL.

It was really fun. It is more of an attraction than a bar.
We've gone twice mid afternoon and its a great break.
Keep checking as things open up, especially a few days before.

I say it's worth going once. I've only done it once, before restrictions. I'm glad I did it but I wouldn't do it again. Maybe if it operated a bit more casually like a regular bar (eg baseline taphouse) instead of a time-blocked dining reservation, I'd go back. It's unlikely this will ever happen though because of how popular it is. Right now, it just feels like an attraction with alcohol.

One thing people don't seem to mention often enough is that you probably won't get to sit down! They have a few sit down booths for large groups but otherwise all the tables are bar height and there are no chairs; you have to stand the entire time.

An unwelcome surprise for those who may have been expecting to get off their feet while inside.

I enjoy Oga's and have been many times but agree here. It was really tight in there prior to COVID with people basically on top of each other. Even with reduced capacity the air in there doesn't seem well circulated.

As for being worth it. Definitely worth it to try once if you're okay with the above (cramped indoor space) and drastically overpaying for drinks and snacks in order to experience the scenery and interaction with the cast. I wouldn't worry at all about being early hours. There will be people in there drinking adult beverages and many others who don't.

It's one of those things that you certainly should do once, just to experience it, but probably won't be rushing back to.

Previously, U could request to be seated Involved a usually longer wait and sharing a table with other group(s)

This is what I did in March. I think I only waited an additional 15 minutes or so for a party of 2 in the early evening. Of course, things may have changed since then.

I was able to request a table when we went to Oga’s Cantina but I was with a larger group. We did share a table with really nice people, but this was pre pandemic.

We enjoyed Oga’s when we went there in July. Our issue with it was that we went mid-afternoon and a scorching hot day, and our table was a standing table. After we got our table, we saw another party of comparable size leaving, so we asked if we can move to their booth, and we did. I wouldn’t have even really minded if I didn’t have 2 kids with me, but it’s something to be aware of when you get a reservation there.

In terms of the experience, it’s awesome in there. The music, the alien species in the tanks above the bar, and most impressively, the way the bartenders talk to you in coordination with the Star Wars canon timeframe. It’s a very cool experience.

I've gone to Oga's a few times: once in Disneyland and twice in WDW. We really enjoy the experience. Of course, the atmosphere is incredible, but the cast members really sell that you're in the Star Wars universe. The menu is unique, and my kids love the drink that comes with these little juice/jelly balls. They crave it and they're teenage boys. I hear you on the early time slot, but hey, you're on vacation. Just don't over do it. A drink or two loosens you up for the rest of day.

We were there last week for the modified experience. My kids actually liked it better. We weren't forced to share our table with strangers like the normal experience. Walking around isn't really encouraged like it normally is either.

For the record, I like the normal experience. It's great to share a table with strangers and share stories and experiences about our visit.

We are glad we went to see theming aspect of Oga's not long after it opened. It was soooo crowded and so noisy. No way was our experience what you would see today with covid. We were packed in like sardines. You were permitted to stay no longer than 45 minutes. I think today with social distancing guidelines it might be more enjoyable. We did not have children with us.
