Jungle Cruise Update Coming

Looking of twitter and Facebook I am pleasantly surprised that most comments are favorable .... Not unanimously of course but I expected much worse!

Congrats internet, you cleared an incredibly low bar!

Well, they haven't actually told us which parts they are removing so I'm sure there will be some hemming and hawing about that when the time comes.

What’s not to embrace about this change, is what’s confusing me. While I completely agreed with the change of Redd, that was a story shift in the ride and a very popular part of Disney dialogue for a number of years, so even if I didn’t agree with people that hated the change, I understood their POV to a certain extent if that makes any sense. With Jungle Cruise, the characters and animals in the ride are really secondary to the skippers themselves. If all of a sudden Disney decided that the skippers wouldn’t talk the entire ride, then that’s a change that I wouldn’t agree with. But changing elements of a ride that just serve as a backdrop and not integral to the ride experience, that’s not an issue that should be a problem imo

I agree. I like Pirate REdd and thing she could be a great central character. I do think they should have kept the line, "We wants the redhead," but then she tells them to "stow it" or somesuch rejoinder that is in the parlance but still Disney friendly enough.

It's just people that push back against "cancel culture" and think companies are being pansies by bowing down to the elitist left

The People’s Attraction. Oh wait, they’re not giving us the Dwayne Johnson animatronics we all wanted 😔

I am sure there was a lot of disagreement about whether or not to update the ride to reflect the upcoming movie - lots of people for and against it, with no options the clear one

You might say management was stuck between The Rock and a hard place

Well, if the movie is good I wouldn't mind at all - if not, then it's best that they don't. We'll actually need to see the movie to know for sure!

I smell what you’re cookin here

I bet if they served pancakes, the people would be on board for this change.

:D

(maybe I know too much about Dwayne Johnson...)

Sounds like they have some good additions and not removing anything.
Just hope it isn't closed when we plan to be there.

from the looks of it, and supposedly we’ll hear more, but as it stands, the additions/swaps they’d be making could be done overnight. At most I see JC being closed for a week

One more say controversial or upsetting change people might see is Trader Sam being removed. It sounds like that’s part of this.

That will be a bit of a bummer - may e they can leverage him in a different way or something ... Be kinda weird to tally lose him but then still have the bar.

Obviously am not an expert but that seemed always more humor than serious but guess while they are at it they will change that too

I’ve only been on Jungle Cruise maybe 2 times in all the times I’ve been to WDW, so I really don’t remember much of the ride. But couldn’t they redesign Trader Sam and make him into something else? I always equated the name more with the tiki mask figures at Poly and at the bar, so they could probably change the Sam character into a Tiki figurine.

He’s the finale of the attraction. He’s not a tiki figure and not really related to such.

I hope they won't remove him, but I do think they may change him a little. I wonder if he's in the movie at all? The trailers depicted that the natives were in league with The Rock to scare the tourists and they were getting a kickback or something. They can easily make him a little less of a charicature with a little extra context.

Eh, the removal of Trader Sam wouldn’t really be a big deal to me either. Just do not touch my favorite bar
Definitely the best bar! We‘re going to Poly tomorrow for a night in a bungalow and are still bummed that we can’t get drinks there.

It’s certainly the depiction of Sam that would be the issue. The rumblings so far is many believe the new animated skipper will take his spot.
