Just heard from youngest son, he's in Army. Got his second shot at noon yesterday (Moderna), around 10 hours later he was hit with headache, fever and body aches. He's been taking Tylenol. He's hoping since its been about 24 hours its almost done, but so far at 8PM he is about 33 hour post second shot. says he feels "like ****".

No, not planning to either. How do you measure the success of a vaccine against a disease with a 96% survival rate? the M and P vaccines are 94/96% effective and J&J is 72%.

Depends on what you mean by "survival rate". Look up what "long hauler" is. Consistent symptoms for months even after testing negative and clearly having no active virus in the body. Also those with permanent loss of lung capacity. Certainly for someone older, these vaccines appear to severely keep people from dying and reducing the severity. Nobody who took the J&J vaccine has died from COVID-19. That's pretty impressive - especially given the death rate for older adults who come down with it.

And strokes, and aneurisms as reported here on the DIS by healthcare professionals.

What do they recommend for body aches?
Yes, Tylenol. They suggest to not take it preemptively before your shot and then only after your shot if you have headache or other aches you are having a hard time dealing with. And even then, 4-6 after your shot. They want the shot properties to get working in your system without medicine that is tamping down the effects.

The potential long-hauler symptoms are what concern me most about Covid.

Our family has had enough long standing symptoms with autoimmune issues. I certainly didn't want to add to those or stir those up.

I've finally gotten to a place with my autoimmune disease that's well managed and don't want to screw it up.

I was quite enthused that at least the vaccine considers me "young"! (since apparently, the current theory is that younger people tend to experience worse side effects).
Didn't know whether to like your comment or give you a sad face. Hope you feel better soon.

I just got my second Pfizer shot at my school last week. My arm was a little sore both times for the first day or two, but that was the only symptom. I had heard the second shot was rough, but I didn’t notice any difference. Regardless, I’m headed to Disney in 2 weeks and can’t wait!!!
