Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I don't understand how areas are now saying we've lower the age to X, but have all the people above that level gotten a vaccine?

Spoke to a neighbor 65ish, he is traveling about 100 miles to get one. My DD found my DH one 3 miles away. Other neighbor already got a J&J.

Update to J&J: got vaccine at about 12:45AM last night. Was fine until about 4PM today where it just kicked my butt. DH came home and said I looked pretty pale. I was under 3 blankets on the couch, could not keep my eyes open, headache, body aches, sore arm, on and off nausea, no appetite.

Been drinking a ton of water and regular Tylenol.

It’s gotten better as the night goes on. Hoping I’ll wake up tomorrow and be good to go. And I can’t complain too much, I know this is worth it.

I basically had the same--- had J & J at 3:30 AM yesterday--- we fine until 4:30PM yesterday---- chills and very low-grade fever...
slight headache--- No nausea - took Tylenol at 9:30PM and again at 3:30AM--- feel fine today, and arm doesnt even hurt anymore

I’m so happy for those that have been able to get vaccinated but I’m feeling so discouraged. I’m in group 1A and have been registered with my county and several hospitals since January with zero luck! I’m supposed to be starting new meds but my neurologist insists that I have my Covid vacs first then wait an additional month afterwards before starting the new medication. Trying not to stress but some days it’s hard.

Where do you live?

I have been following this thread closely since the beginning. Even though there have been side effects NO ONE has been hospitalized and everyone has recovered. This is great news! Everyone should be reassured by this!

It really is an amazing feeling to know that the tough part- the apprehension for many of us , is over... Ready to get back to living ! Managed to get an appt for my 83 YO mom today at Walgreens--- they loaded a ton before in NYC--- she goes Thurs-
Pfizer

My granddaughter's birthday was today, 5 years old. My son and his wife have both had both their shots, I have had both of mine. We were able today to get hug, kiss and be 'normal' with them all after a year without. It was amazing.
So glad for all of you, Dan. It is so amazing how we sometimes take “everyday” happenings for granted. After the last year, I hope that we will truly appreciate and cherish each “everyday” happening and never forget how we got there.

Philly suburbs

Have you done anything proactively to get the shot besides get on the list? I ask because I have family in same area and they were on the list, but my cousin urged them to seek vaccines out at different spots- eventually they did get appt for vaccine going this route. Not sure if they got it at a Walgreens/ CVS or another location. Perhaps this might be another avenue for you?

My folks (in Fl) are in a list, but we’ve urged them to haunt the Publix/Walmart/drug store sites as well, and we do the same from up here for them. Eventually we will snag a spot for them! No, it should not be that difficult but it’s where we are now so we are just working with it at moment.

Good luck! They are out there, you might have to drive a bit! We drive just over a hour one way for ours, and will do so in a few weeks for our second.

Yes, I’ve stalked the virtual lines for Rite-Aid and the locangrocery stores and Walmart’s have nothing yet. I’ve stayed within a 35-50 mile range. It’s difficult also because I can’t drive. Just adds another layer of obstacles but I’ll get it eventually. They keep saying that they’re adding more to the supply chain. Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement!

I agree with you @easyas123. Those who are most persistent and proactive are having success. It’s great to get on every list, but it seems the hospitals are the slowest to call people for appointments. Grocery store signups seem to be the best option around here. I also know several people who were able to get the vaccine by hanging out around grocery store pharmacies at the end of the day. If they have extra doses they will give them to customers!!

We are in NJ but outside Philly so hear the news about Philly. It’s frustrating when you qualify for the vaccine and need to hunt down an appointment. I do think that things are starting to open up with more locations and vaccine supply ramping up. You will find something soon.

I am trying to get something for my dad in FL. I have him signed up for his county and a state site. He’s 85 with no internet access. He said he is not going to stand in a line as we saw in some areas. He drives and is independent but I don’t want to get an appointment too far away. I get emails stating he’s on the list and they are working their way through the list.

DH & I did get our own vaccines, 1st Pfizer shot this past Saturday. We qualified in a top tier but snagging an appointment was a bit challenging.

DS28 received his 2nd dose (Moderna) yesterday and feels awful today. He was fine after the first dose but has body aches, no energy and headache today. He is taking the day off from work, he can send a picture of his CDC card to HR and they give them a “free” day. Not that he needs free days, he works for the state and gets tons of time..lol.

I'm very sorry you haven't been able to get vaccinated yet. It stinks to have to wait. I was having a serious case of Vaccine Envy.

Have you tried vaccinefinder.org?

https://vaccinefinder.org/
Several people I know have used it to find a location where they can get vaccinated.

Hang in there. Supply's coming.

No and getting really impatient. I have an autoimmune disease and no spleen which weakens your immune system, done on purpose just for that reason to weaken my immune system and my doc has not called me back when I asked for a note to get it. I live in a heavily populated area outside a major city and seems they are either giving to upper state where they have too much and and then you have to live in certain zip codes and I don't apply. I could drive many hours away and the drug stores I cannot get bc not 65.

I followed a vaccine bot for NJ on Twitter. I was able to get my mother a vaccine by reading up on the feed. It also sends out alerts when appointments open up. I would guess one would be available for your area. My husband and I had signed up on our state site when it first came out and were able to get appointments at a megasite one and a half hours away. We qualify in NJ on March 15th for being overweight. We received a link when dates past that opened up.

Just wanted to chime in with @easyas123 - my parents were on lists here in Ohio and my dad ended up getting Pfizer #1 at a Walgreens, my mom got J&J at CVS. If you have Meijers, Krogers, Giant Eagle, CVS, etc. it can't hurt to check. Hope you find something soon!

I’m glad to see in this thread that some places are giving shots in the middle of the night. It should be round the clock!

I don’t think you need a note to get it. Not sure where you are, but where I am, it’s on the Honor system. Which is why there have been some problems (like people pretending to be healthcare workers), but most people have probably been honest. Good luck.

After my rather unpleasant experience with the first dose of the Pfizer shot, my allergist is going to test me for reaction to two specific ingredients in the vaccine. The results will determine if I get the rest of the Pfizer vaccine or get the J&J later in the year.
