Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Thanks I have some thinking to do today! Pop is $300 more for the week vs All Star Movies, while I love pop thats $300 for food.
We had a similar decision for our trip coming up on the 24th.

We decided not to pay Skyliner Tax this trip and check out the "new" All-Star Movies.

Will probably use the Skyliner Tax money for LOTS of F&G plates! :)

Does the Skyliner really take longer from POP than a bus would? I have concerns about the transfer station at CBR! It seems so unfair that if you have already waited in line once for transportation that they would put you in in the back of a second line halfway to your destination. Why didn't they just have it going straight through, maybe alternating cars for the second resort... I know that what's done is done and maybe that's what people get for staying at a value resort? but it just seems like there could be a better way of doing the merge at CBR - like alternating lines or something. Or maybe I'm just anticipating that it will be worse than it actually is?

"maybe that's what people get for staying at a value resort" is NOT my opinion! Just wanted to clarify that - we're staying there this summer, LOL. I'm just wondering if that might be Disney's logic?

In the morning, for rope drop, the Skyliner can take longer than the bus. Your concerns about the transfer station at CBR are valid. That line can be crazy long.

They do alternating lines at the CBR station. They let some CBR people in and then they let some Pop/AOA people in. At least that was our experience in December.

That would be amazing! I hope they do that in August... I've seen some other posters say they were directed to the end. Maybe they did that for a while and got complaints? Or does it depend on the day/time?

I've not been on the Skyliner or at WDW since it was built so I have no idea what it even looks like at the stations. Do they also alternate at the POP/AoA station from the two resorts, or is it one line?

Were you some of the first to arrive at CBR from Pop? While I would love it if this were the case of lines going back and forth, there have been many reports that the first few guests from Pop/AoA are woven in but the majority of guests have to go to the back of the CBR line.

I was there in October and I was directed to the end of the very long line. I wasn't even going to HS so I wasn't in a hurry but the line we were in was for HS and Epcot and it was about an hour before we got to where the lines divided for the 2 parks.

DD18 and I just got back from Pop last week. We preferred the Skyliner over the bus regardless of the length of the line. The Skyliner line constantly moves while we often had to wait for a 2nd bus for MK and AK. The wait always seemed greater when standing stationary for 20+ min.

One line.

The line does extend into Pop Century past the 1960s and 1950s when necessary, but both Resorts get in the same line-first come/first served.

I don't think it has anything to do with Value versus Moderate.

CBR Guests just have the advantage of the "Hub" being at their Resort because logistically that was the best spot for it,not because CBR is a Moderate.

But they still have to walk or Bus to the "Hub"-some from quite a long way such as Martinique,so I think Disney just looks at the CBR "Hub" as a separate "entity" where everyone gets in one line no matter where they came from.

I think if the "Hub" were at Pop Century/AoA, then CBR Guests would go to the back of the line when arriving there like everyone else.

If it were a Value versus Moderate thing then CBR and DRR would be given "preference" when boarding the Skyliner at DHS Station and IG Station for the return trip.

Same, though it wasn’t as much of $ difference. The things I’ve heard about the Skyliner made me just want to stick with the buses for this trip since I have five new to me rides to experience at HS.

We were staying at CBR and did not see people being moved to the end of the CBR line. But it was not busy when we were there. I'm sure things are different with the crowds now.

In October the bus lines were insane, too. Our longest wait was over an hour for a MK bus one morning. The longest Skyliner wait was about 30 minutes.

I'm staying at Pop for the first time this weekend and this thread has been so informative. Thank you! Can anyone let me know if the lines to leave luggage last all day or is it just a morning thing? We are arriving at 1pm and are hoping to leave bags and go straight to a park but if the line is going to be an hour long, I'm wondering if we should just get lunch and hang out and wait for the room ready text? Thanks!

My experience is that the line fluctuates throughout the day so I don't know that there is a real pattern to it. Throughout the day you have a combination of guests leaving their luggage as they arrive and also those leaving it for luggage services to hold if their flight is later in the day. At the same time, you have guests picking up who left their luggage there earlier in the day, either to take to their room or home.

If you're asking about your arrival day, I think your best option is to check the line when you arrive and make a decision in the moment. There is no guarantee what time a room will be ready. It may be within an hour of your arrival or, several hours may elapse. The additional cleaning that is being done right now means increased time required between guests leaving and the room being prepared for new guests.

got it. That’s what we’ll do. Thank you!

I’m a bit concerned about the situation with bell services as well. Hopefully, it is sorted out by October, which is when out trip is. If not, how does this impact luggage transfer? We’ll be doing a split stay and we’re planning on having our luggage picked up at the room on our transfer day. Will they allow me to schedule a luggage pickup or will I have to plan on getting up earlier to allow time for taking our luggage to bell services ourselves?

Excited to finally have pulled the trigger and booked our rescheduled 2020 trip. We will be at POP in August. We had been there several times before the remodel, the last few trips were were at Sports, which we LOVE. But since that is not an option this time we decided to enjoy POP and the new (to us) rooms and the skyliner. Even tho I feel we are veterans, this trip feels completely new to plan. It also seems strange only doing it in 3 months when I usually have it figured out a year in advance ;) I am hoping to get a room in the 70s section, lake view (have a request set up in TP). 116 days! So happy to have a countdown again!

We were there Feb 28-Mar 6. Coming from POP, we were directed to the end of the line at CBR every time. Again, this was only an issue at rope drop and the line moved relatively quickly so it did not present a problem even with 2yo. I would choose it over buses regardless.
