CDC Notifies States, Large Cities To Prepare For Vaccine Distribution As Soon As Late October

I've also heard purely anecdotal reports of people with everything from lupus to endometriosis reporting improvement following their first or second dose. And pure speculation that it may be the mRNA itself sort of resetting the immune system. Obviously that's something that would need to be studied, but if true, it could a) make the vaccine a treatment option for all sorts of things and b) potentially revolutionize medicine on a larger scale. Exciting stuff!

Same. Early reports show that the vaccine is helping with long COVID. This is good news.

What really bothers me is how people are so willing to throw away our basic rights-The Declaration of Independence stated we have a right to "the pursuit of happiness" and we hold these to be self-evident. My pursuit of happiness is not wearing a mask, period and if this is going to change than the least we US Citizens should expect is the the Congress of the United State pass a law and the President sign it. Anything less is a violation of my rights as a US Citizen. This country has survived a Civil War, WWI, the Spanish Flu Pandemic, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and 2 Gulf Wars without violating anyones civil rights. Yet we have this new pandemic that there is now a Vaccine for and it like let us forget the 250 years of liberties that this country stands for.

This shows a hilarious or deliberate ignorance of our history. We had state and local mask mandates during the 1918 pandemic. Polio and measles both caused local quarantines and school closures. In WWII, private commercial transactions were subject to rationing. Vietnam brought curfews to quell domestic unrest, not to mention a draft that sent the unwilling to war. The endless middle eastern wars gave us the surveillance state and the loss of protections against unreasonable search if you're within a hundred miles of a border. But sure, let's all pretend like masks during a global pandemic is the worst thing that has ever been imposed on the American people.

And that's ignoring the Japanese-American internment camps, and the Trail of Tears, and the active shooter drills in kindergartens...

I have also read about women's menstrual cycles getting worse, women in menopause bleeding again and flaring of autoimmune diseases after the vaccine. Until peer reviewed studies come out, it is pure speculation.

George Takei wrote a book about his experience: They Called Us Enemy. You can learn more about it from his interview with David Tennant on David Tennant Does a Podcast. Really interesting history. But this is really off topic.

Nevertheless, thanks for the recommendation. My daughter, the one with Japanese studies as her second major, talked me into going to see Takei's musical when they did a theatrical release via Fathom Events and it was amazing. But I had no idea there was a book (or a David Tennant podcast, and I adore him!).

His podcast is really good. Lots of great interviews.

And how quickly all the airport security is being disregarded in the comparison after 9/11 and the shoe bomber. No liquids over 3oz, all devices out of bags, have to take your shoes off. Which is nothing compared to the list you and @Colleen27 provided, but a great comparison of everything we agreed to do for the greater good.

Bless your heart...I’m so sorry wearing a mask during a global pandemic has infringed on your pursuit of happiness. The horrors!!

I understand a whole lot better than you do. First, Herd immunity does not have a definite definition. You can have a scientific definition and a legal definition. My post was implying that the Legal definition could be changed - and just like the Covid mandates made by politicians who ignore the science.
What do I find objectionable about a mask, having a piece of cloth/paper over my face and breathing into it--did not know that it was not self evident that I had to explain it.
Yes, the mask mandate violates our civil liberties. There is no longer a medical reason for them since SCIENCE has proven if you are vaccinated you do not spread the disease and do not get it. So mandating them should at the very least take a legislative body passing a law with the executive branch signing into law. NO legislative body has passed such a law--if they did it would be immediately challenged in courts as violating civil liberties and struck down.
Your understanding of the law is questionable at best. You do know that executive orders can be challenged in court too, right?

The Declaration of Independence lists the rights we have in order of importance: LIFE (#1), Liberty (#2) and the Pursuit of Happiness (#3).

Your pursuit of happiness cannot impinge on my right to LIFE.

"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men..."

This is how we find ourselves being asked to wear masks by our GOVERNMENT during a global pandemic. This is their way of securing everyone's right to LIFE.

It is not hard to understand.

I have also read about women's menstrual cycles getting worse, women in menopause bleeding again and flaring of autoimmune diseases after the vaccine. Until peer reviewed studies come out, it is pure speculation.
Some women have also reported observationally lighter and fewer days in their next period.

Menstrual cycles are difficult to study because they can be affected by a lot of stuff stress being a main one, hormonal situations already present and so much more. But rest assured it is being looked at, not scientifically, but by survey from several researchers and they have been very clear they cannot use it as a cause and effect situation. I just thought it was important if you're going to bring that up let's try in a more impartial way :)

In my state, vaccinations definitely are slowing down. We’re up to a bit more than a quarter fully vaccinated and around 40% with one dose. I hope we don’t stall out here. :guilty:

I’m hearing about these things coming not from women getting the vaccine, but “shedding” and these women reporting being around people who have been vaccinated. :confused3

Flaring of autoimmune diseases are also happening with people who are getting Covid, even minor cases.

This is me. I had shot #2 on April 10. A week later, I had the shortest, lightest period I've had in many, many years. It started right on time (so no cycle length impact from shot #1) but was done within 3 days with only one day of what I would call moderate flow. And NO cramps, which is unusual for me.

I just said that because in previous conversations when I have brought up various points, it is followed by someone saying, do you have a link, is there a study to prove that, correlation doesn't equal causation. Just trying to keep a level playing field when bringing up points that are purely speculative. The side effects can go both ways :)
