Dismeet in the Smokies 2021! Y'all Come!

Looks like things are shaping up to be a real blast! I would love to be there.
We have to go to a wedding in MD leaving here on the 1st and returning on the 15th. Believe me when I say I would rather stick needles in my eye and be there with you all than go. Unfortunately it's DD#2, who is not related by blood, but was pretty much a fixture at our home since she and DD#1 were in elementary school so I couldn't get out of it. When the bride tells you that you have to be there and you can wear shorts a T-shirt and flip flops if you want I'm guessing that there's no way I can't attend. I know I can count on all of you to keep the thread updated with pictures and stories.

We took a trip to East TN this week. Here is a road report. Maybe it will all be fixed/done by June (fingers crossed). Expect lots of potholes on I-40 and I-75. The ice, snow and rains have tore up the roads. They are working on the road at Exit 258 on I-40 E Bound it goes down to 1 lane. Going it was 6 miles of slow go and took 40 minutes. Coming back we could see it was a bit more, probably an hour to get through. If you need to make a pit stop do it before here. I'd say before exit 250.

Coming in from south, we'll exit I75 at Lenoir City and stay on hwy 321 all way to Townsend. Take Wears Valley Road then over to Pigeon Forge.

This easily saves an hour by bypassing Knoxville and Sevierville.

Just suggestion for anyone coming in from the Chattanooga way.

Just made the appointment to have our motorhome looked over at Cummins care and have a couple of service points done, before the big trip.

You almost made a little panic set in. We have the Midwest DIS Meet in 10 days and I'm going out to mid-MO the following weekend to see my dad. Staying at Lake of the Ozarks State Park.

And then heading to the Meet in the Smokies.

Lots going on. I'm trying to get a trip in every other week or so.

Off this weekend, Visit Mom's. Camping next 2 weekends, RV to dealer, get back, load and head out for TN. Have to go finish painting the toy box floor, painted most of it by phone flashlight this morning while it was pouring rain. Sun is out now, so finish the people door and start the ramp.

Agreed i saw that and i thought we need to make an adjustment. On the flip side i might do it Sunday but now i would be concerned about traffic.

Originally had 3 big hikes planned but with my leg and lack of training going with 2. That means sunday is free for an easy, shorter hike. Will take a look and update you on the plans.

Benita, please tell hubby that we are all prepped for the Midwest Dismeet and that I finished (and enjoyed) the last of the Knob Creek. Tell him I owe him one.

I am trying to work out my plans for trip and was want to get an idea of any official or unofficial group activities that are going on. I know the dinner get together is Monday evening, but are there any others? I know miniature golf, and go-carts were mentioned, but was anything setup?

So far I am planning on 2 Dollywood days. sometime from Sunday-Thursday. Friday DS1 & DSiL are coming in Friday-Sunday and they don't want to go Dollywood since she'll be 7 months pregnant. Once they get there, the only plans are Bennett's for dinner and a meal at the The Old Mill.

For the get together I can bring tea again, and anything else that can be store bought. You really don't want us to fix anything to bring.

Now if Benita (or Joe) is bringing a beverage imported from Kentucky, I can bring one local to Tennessee. I'll also bring in some Georgia beverage that comes in a red can that goes well with the mentioned imported and local beverages.

So in short... What is still needed for Monday evening that I could bring? I will have 2-3 attending. Are there any other offical/unoffical group activities planned?

We haven't planned or scheduled anything in particular. We do want to get into the national park several days, but we would wait to see what looked best for weather. This will be our 3rd trip in a year and we are going again in October, so no pressure to cram things in this trip. Work has been crazy. A week of relaxing with no specific plans sounds good.

We really only focused on the dinner. Kris did list some hiking plans and I put those on opening post.

Really didn't like idea of planning too many things as was afraid it wouldn't allow others to do some things they might already want. Usually on the Dismeets we shoot for one event in advance and then put together smaller things as we go. However, if anyone wants to strike up ideas and plans I'm happy to add them to opening post.

We are looking forward to the Monday evening get together. We have never been to one of these shin-digs and would like to put faces to names. Other than Monday evening, we will be going to Dollywood, Cades Cove, Newfound Gap/Clingmans Dome, Smoky Mountain Knife Works, Gatlinburg, The Island, and I'm certain "other" places of interest. I'll need a vacation when we get back home
