The Pro-Genie App discussion thread - speculate how the app could make your trip next trip great!

The ability to purchase a boarding group for RotR.
What would this cost? Would the price be variable depending on availability, weather, time of day? So if you purchased at park open it would be more than say, purchasing in the evening? They can really do some gauging with this software if they wanted(And I think they do).

I would like where maybe it gives your a touring plan around your ADRs (assuming we can still make ADRs and it doesn't all become same day reservations only). The one time I went to WDW with 180 day ADRs and 60 day FP selections, it became difficult to schedule fast passes around the dining reservations which are not moveable. If it can take your reservations into account, that might be helpful?

I’m looking forward to the planning features… and the ability to adapt/upgrade on the fly if desired

I think it sounds pretty powerful and potentially awesome… if it can optimize like touring plans while incorporating virtual queues and fastpass-like access… I’ll be hooked!

Someone posted $50. Len (touring plans) suggested dynamic pricing.

JMO but the higher the better. A very high price suggests limiting the number of paid groups. A moderate price suggests Disney might decide to sell most boarding groups.

A credible reporter said on Twitter $50, not sure if it was hyperbole.

Why not both? A very high price, and Disney deciding to sell most boarding groups.

Its going to be a disaster..........There are 4 components to it.........

1) regular standby lines
2) virtual standby pass (like Paris)
3) Paid Lightening Pass with designated return times (Like FP+ was)
4) Lightening Pass + which is high cost instant access to walk right on with no return time

How it's going to work is if regular standby gets too long, you can enter virtual stand by and get a return time to then go wait in line.........You will only be able to have 1 virtual standby at a time..........So for example, assume you go to HS at 10am and its busy...........Toy Story Mania, SlinkDog, Tower of Terror, Rock n Rollercoster, MIllenium Flacon all have virtual lines because it's so busy, then you go to enter one on your phone. You enter Tower or Terror and it says come back at 1pm and then wait in 30-60 minute line. The problem is, you cannot get in line for the other rides because they are all virtual standby too so you have to go to Muppets or Star Tours or watch a show until your return time.............

Your other option is to pay for FP...........

Cant you see how HS, Epcot and AK this will be awful b there's not a lot of rides and they will all have virtual standby? So trying to do it like you would have in the past is gone

This is going to be an unmitigated disaster

I'm not doubting you but how do you know this? Was it released?

I’m aware of what she meant.

Sarcastic remarks from myself withstanding, of course i’m hoping for the best here. And for the record, I think some people mistake the negativity I convey as if I (or others) are here to only bash Disney. That isn’t the case at all. I care very much for Disney. I love what they have offered us for over 30+ years and have happily gave them our money for unforgettable experiences. I’m attached to the magic, the nostalgia and everything in between. Have been for a long time. I’ve adjusted many times to their decision making and changes, and mostly have done so happily. But like watching a family member making bad choices, it is that level of care that prompts me to take the approach where I express my concerns in a negative way (call it Disney bashing or whatever anyone wants) on a public forum like this. I mean we could write pages and pages about what we love regarding Disney right? But I’m here to learn and consume info regarding changes and how it impacts for future trips, primarily. And in that light, I’m worried that Disney’s potential new cost cutting culture is taking shape and running rampant. I’m worried that the guest experience is not front and center as it used to be. I’m worried that they are getting into the habit of giving us less while we spend more. I’m worried that new cast members will never know the old Disney and the standard that many are used to in terms of hospitality from them. I don’t know where the line gets drawn (meaning when does it become too much and I stop going) but my deep care and love for Disney and our history with it is what drives me to speak out on a public forum in this way, in hopes that other people feel the same way and collectively speak out as well, and that ultimately at the end of the road it all provides useful feedback for Disney to logistically draw from (whether that last part actually comes to fruition or not is probably unlikely I guess, but still).

Of course I’m hoping for the best with a Disney offering (and I’m assuming others are too that mirror my take on this) and want the best for my future trips. And of course if we decide to continue going, then we will adjust again just like we always have. I hope I’m wrong here regarding my assumptions with the current facts and rumors that are out. I said I would take the negative perspective out of this thread and I will, but wanted to make that very clear first and foremost. This is a public forum to discuss Disney. Some people want it to be purely positive talk. Some people want to express their opinions. There is room for both in my eyes.

You came into a pro-Genue app thread to post a sarcastic remark about the author (me) who sees the potential good in the changes.

There are other threads where the good and the bad is being hashed out. What is your intention in here? It seems as if your only goal was to be condescending and critical.

This is atrociously bad that I have to to wonder if Disney is doing it on purpose.

So, if I am following, there will be a standby line until it gets too full, in which case they will stop people from walking up and joining the standby line and direct them to join the line virtually from their phone. That "virtual line" will notify guests when they have an opportunity to come back and wait in line (i.e. join the standby line) ?

In addition to this, they will have the option of paying for a lighting pass. Which will give guests a window of time in which to return, but when they return the wait will not be as long as it would from a Virtual Line. Do you get this return window right away upon purchase, or it will be randomly sent to you when available?

As another option, guests could also purchase a Lighting Pass, in which case they can immediately enter the Lighting Pass line and ride instantly.

People are going to be furious mostly with the confusion involved in not being able to simply just stand in line physically "the old fashioned way"

BTW, am I the only one struggling with this? As the primary Disney planner for my family, I now find I have to almost constantly be on my phone as we navigate the parks. Mobile order even if someone just wants a soda, trying to snag reservations to sit down in some air conditioning or checking wait times/ride closures. I'm struggling with phone battery life (because I also want to take pictures) and the general annoyance of not being able to just enjoy the time with my family. This development seems awful - even more mandatory phone time while in park.

What is my intention? I’m just going to refer you to the post that you quoted, as the answer to your question lies within that post.

You are correct and this is AWFUL.........Payment aside, its confusing, annoying and relies on you being on your phone all day long..........

Wait until the new Fuel Rod rates come out!
