The Murdaugh Murders

I heard on the news the other day that he has left the law firm he worked out. Well, I think he had no choice. Apparently he was stealing money or something.

Yes I’ve been following this story since the mother and son were killed. I was wondering if the dad/husband had something to do with it.

Death toll tied to this story so far:
2015- male
2018- female
2019- female
2021- male and female

And the plot thickens...

I listened to one podcast about this and am listening to another one now that has more detail. DD went to college not far from where all this happened.

I think the father is so far into something criminal he can't get out of it. I think the family has been 'untouchable' for so long, getting away with whatever 'bad' things that happened to them, that the father thought he would never get caught. I think he got caught up with some bad people-- the missing money from the law office is why. Why would he need to steal that money and where did it go? He was wealthy so no need to steal it for himself unless he did something with his own money. People in Hampton county are afraid of this family so they're afraid to talk about what they may know.

I think the boys (one or both) were involved in Stephen Smith's murder. Gloria Satterfield's death was not an accident either. The family knows what happened to her. I think she may have overheard or saw something she wasn't supposed to. Supposedly the Murdaugh's homeowners insurance settled the claim with the Satterfield family for $500,000 but I heard last night that claim was never finalized or paid. The younger son was driving the boat at the time of the accident for sure. The Murdaugh family was trying to pin it on one of the other boys.

As far as the mother and son's murders I'm not sure yet. The father is involved somehow. Either he set it up or someone he ticked off did it as retribution. There isn't enough information out there yet. The fact that the mother and son were shot with 2 different guns leads to the speculation that there were 2 shooters involved.

You mirror my thoughts exactly!

Some slightly new information on Alex Murdaugh from his court appearance. Most of it is just an overview of what was already known:

https://www.foxnews.com/us/alex-murdaugh-shooter-appear-court-assisted-suicide-bond-hearing
"Murdaugh was able to call 911 and his initial story was someone passing in a pickup truck shot at him as he checked a tire that was low on pressure. His lawyers said a week later he told them about the insurance scheme and they told state police."

The bold part was probably the only new info I learned.

Which was the first podcast you listened to?

The Murdaugh Family Murders- Impact of Influence- Matt Harris and Seton Tucker. Matt Harris is a local radio personality which is why I listened to theirs first. He is just like on his radio show and jumps around too much for me.

Thank you for sharing this. i have seen very little info on this case in my local news, and hadn’t had time to hunt for more info yet. The fiancé not cooperating with police in this case speaks volumes.
Yes, if she was alive, surely he'd say he let her out of the car in x spot.

And now they're loosely tying a double murder to this case. Makes for an intriguing story.

Both of these cases are crazy. I think the NC lawyer was involved in all those murders (except for the boating accident).

As for the young couple from Florida, he killed her. If she was alive, why would he have gone home without her? If they had a fight, then why wouldn't he help the police find her?

This story is so scary but totally believable. Small towns scare the bejezus out of me. I moved from NYC to a moderate sized town in Pa and literally everyone local is related, esp everyone in power but you can't tell because the women change their last names but if you pay attention to who is at the same holiday parties it'll be obvious. Add a bit of money to the mix and it's all upside down, can't even imagine what goes on further from the cities, just nope.
Time will tell what shakes out of this particular hell hole.

And the story keeps getting better. Now they’re saying that the settlement for the housekeeper’s death was $4 million, not the $500,000 her sons were told and never saw. Murdaugh’s college roommate and attorney friend represented the family in the settlement.

The intertwining of the corruption roots is very, very deep here. DH keeps questioning why a senator is representing Murdaugh. SC is a state where the judges are elected by the legislature. Anyone can see that the judge would rule in favor of the senator & his client if they want to remain a judge!

Geez, 4 million? That never would have come out if the 500k had been paid I'm guessing.

Sounds like a great amount of corruption going on.
