Issues buying Genie+ and staying Swan/Dolphin?

Hi- we are staying for our first time at the Swan in January and I am concerned reading recent reports that people are not able to add Genie+ (single day) without issues if they are at the Swan/Dolphin. Or maybe it is that they have trouble booking at 7 am? Our first morning is DHS which is probably the whole reason we were interested in Genie+.. can anyone offer any advice to get this resolved BEFORE we get down there? We are flying in the night before and would hate to have this be an issue the first morning and miss out on all the hard-to-get rides.

Thank you!

This happened to me a few weeks ago. I was with a friend and she was the lead guest on the reservation and was able to buy Genie + at midnight (for following morning) but I was not. We happened to be at the Christmas party when we realized the issue and went to Guest Services. They were unfamiliar with the Swan/Dolphin issue, but ultimately did fix it so I could buy Genie +. My understanding is that this is something the hotel can fix too. If it were me, I would try to buy it a few minutes after midnight and go to hotel front desk to fix rather than scramble in the morning. Another option would be to buy it for anyone 'eligible' in your party & book LL's and ILL's as normal and just hit guest services in the park to fix it for you.

We stayed at the Swan last month. We stayed up until midnight and bought Genie+. We also Made sure that our hotel reservation was linked in My Disney Experience.

Happened to us last month. Hotel reservation was on MDE for several months before falling off. Didn’t notice prior to our first park day. Had to call to correct after 7 am. Went to hotel to fix LL times and they sent us to guest services in the park. They corrected for the following day however our reservation fell off again on our third park day. Luckily I saw before 7am this time and chatted on MDE with CM who corrected.

I had heard reports of this prior to our trip, so I called the hotel two months in advance and was assured everything was good to go. 🤷‍♀️

Just keep looking for the hotel stay in your MDE.

(ETA: no issues buying genie +, purchased shortly before 7. Just issues with $ILL)

We had this happen on our Nov trip. We did online check in and everything showed in my MDE.

The first day I was not able to purchase an ILL$ for Rise of the Resistance. My reservation dropped off. G+ is available to everyone at 7am.

Our reservation was there the night before check-in, but dropped off overnight and caused a slight delay in doing Genie+ and ILL.

Check each morning before 7AM and it never fell off again. I did have my confirmation number handy...

I have been concerned about this issue for weeks, after reading many horror stories on these boards. I had no problem linking my Swan reservation when I first made it months ago. And it has consistently appeared on MDE. Until today. Our trip begins on Friday. I checked in to the hotel today on the Marriot App, after having received a message from the hotel to do so. Right after I checked in, the reservation disappeared from MDE. (Coincidence? I have no idea.)

I just added it back in, and MDE recognized it right away. I'm hoping that that solved the problem. I will be vigilant about checking repeatedly to make sure that the reservation is still there, including checking again before 7 a.m. on Saturday (my first park day). But I still don't know whether that will guarantee my ability to book ILL$ rides.

Please report back. I’m staying at the Dolphin, checking in next Wednesday. So far the reservation in on MDE…fingers crossed for us!

My suspicion is any updates to a reservation made on the Marriott/swan&dolphin side (checking in, adding guests, switching room view, etc) causes a glitch/reset and then the reservation link falls off MDE.

I had our upcoming reservation linked up for past week, then called Swan & Dolphin today to add guests to a room. All they did was update occupancy for our reservation. Sure enough, when I went into MDE 2min later the hotel reservation was gone. So I’m gonna assume it may fall off after check-in too

Has that been the case with others that they also switched something on their reservation that caused the issue?

We didn't make any changes... other than it was check-in day.

Was simple to add it back to MDE, once we figured out what was wrong... as I had the conformation number handy.

All that I did was check into the hotel through the Marriott app. That seems to be what kicked my reservation off of MDE.

We were there in late December. As I noted earlier in this thread, it seems that the moment I checked into the hotel through the Marriott app, my reservation unlinked from MDE. So, if I hadn't checked back with MDE, I would have been unable to book ILL$ rides the next morning. But I knew from these boards to check MDE, and I was able to relink it right away without a problem. I will note, though, that some mornings, I was unable to book ILL$ or reserve Genie+ LL rides from my Swan hotel room if I was using the hotel wifi. This problem is not unique to the S&D. Apparently, it happens with Disney parks and hotels wifi as well. The system demands that you verify your identity. Or it just gets stuck in endless rebooting loops. Meanwhile, all of the best LL time slots are disappearing. It is extremely frustrating. If you just turn off wifi and use your wireless data, the problem goes away. Or at least it did for me. But I wish that I would have figured that out earlier, and then remembered to turn off wifi in advance a few dates later when it happened again.

Wow did not know about this issue. I’m checking into Swan on Saturday. Any problems at 7am on any day will really mess things up for us. Will report back if I have any problems.

I just checked in via the Marriott app and I still see my reservation in MDE. Was there a delay, or do you think maybe they fixed the issue? Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

Please post tomorrow and let us know how things go for you at 7am if you are trying to book anything with Genie+ and/or Paid LL!

I'm not sure whether there was a delay. I checked MDE maybe 4 or 5 hours after checking in, and my reservation was no longer linked. I assumed that it was just a coincidence. I knew that lots of people with S&D reservations had been having trouble booking ILL$ at 7:00 a.m., and that many of the problems seemed to be related to reservations disappearing from MDE, but I didn't think it had anything to do with checking in. But then several other people reported the same thing: that their reservation had long been linked, and then suddenly disappeared on their check in day, shortly after checking in. So it seemed like maybe it wasn't a coincidence at all. Hopefully, if it was indeed a problem, it has been fixed. But be sure to check MDE several times before 7:00 a.m. just to make sure that the reservation is still linked. And have your reservation number handy in case you need to relink it quickly.

Just to update this, checked in on my Marriott app yesterday, the day before actually showing up for my first day of my stay. Everything seemed ok immediately after. My hotel reservations were still linked. But the next day when I looked, the hotel was no longer showing up. I was able to simply re-link the reservation and now everything appears to be ok.

Tomorrow will be our first attempt at using genie plus and LL so I hope everything is ok!
