Summer 2023 release date?

My very first cruise was their group sailing in 2011; it was really fun! :)

If the hold times for folks over the last couple of weeks are any indication a release right now would be a serious insult to anyone who can't book online.

correct. Placeholders require a phone call. At least from my TA.

Disney Cruise Line online reservations is undergoing "routine" maintenance this morning. Maybe they are loading summer 2023 itineraries? I'm hoping the northern European cruise doesn't go to Russia next summer either since they had to pull out of St Petersburg this summer. I've never been on the Disney Dream so that would be a treat as long as they can still get into Amsterdam with a ship that size

I hope they don’t post/list/hint at anything until the current wait time is down to ZERO.
We all waited on the phone during normal opening days. At this rate Platinum won’t be done until new First-Time-Cruiser call in dates.

I sail in 36 days. Want to bet I get to book as Gold on the Magic? Which should be interesting as they eliminated the person who made future bookings on the Fantasy when we went in January. Thank goodness gold members offer is not initiated on Sundays. With a flight out in the morning, Covid testing, check in, and assorted transportation imagine the nightmares I could be having!

I am following this thread...my daughter and I want to cruise summer 2023 on the Wish.

I’m waiting for august/September 2023. Of course I’m cruising in 3 weeks. I’ll have to figure out how to book on platinum day if I’m on the ship. They no longer have a future cruise desk. I can at least iMessage my TA.

That is a potentially interesting problem. Without a cast member booking cruises for guests on ship, you would almost be forced to use a TA. Now that DCL is easing nearly all restrictions, we shall see what changes are permanent. I am really hoping this hassled free for all at 30 days for check-in and port arrival times changes back soon.

yes, I wonder if that changes. While I can text my TA to use my placeholders to book, I still have to make that initial deposit payment. Guess I could get my daughter to call it in to dreams unlimited. It would be easier to have a future cruise desk.

The thing to keep in mind is they have to have the CM on board to do it. Since they have not had one since restarting, they have not had the usual one or two agents on board. To restart it, they will have to first off see if those who were trained and doing it are available - they may have gotten other jobs by now. Assuming they ARE available, they'll have to get to the on boarding ports and go through that whole process. If they are not (or even if only a few are), they'll have to post the positions and do the hiring. So adding them back is not something that can happen as easily as "no masks in theater" and such.

I'm pretty sure you can access the DCL website while onboard for free. Now that could get tricky with the onboard booking if you're wanting to apply that because I've heard they are taking a long time. (There was a thread somewhere about that.)

A new sea lock has been opened recently and there is no problem for Disney Dream to get to Amsterdam. The old sea lock was too small for bigger cruiseships. But I don't think the Dream will change to European Cruises. I think the Magic will return for these cruises in 2023. When the 5th and 6th ship will be delivered in 2024 and 2025, more changes can be expected in the itininaries

it’s definitely the Dream coming to Europe next year and is planned to stop in Amsterdam end of august & early september

Yeah, I would think that they would have to have some way to book onboard, even without an official desk, right?

Don’t think that will help will it? If you have a FCC (I have one that’s 2 months old)or place holder isn’t that a call only option?
Would the line, at former IT area that sold data, answered questions and had 3+ PCs have a platinum line then a Gold line, etc. because my phone is garbage so I’d have to line up.

Well, yah, then in that case I recommend a TA.

Had to give my place holder to TA in first few days/weeks and I didn't. I don’t want the back and forth on deciding what is available. I look at the deck map as they tell me what is available. Not under piano of bar, not under/over kids club, near front of ship elevator not back, preferably on left side unless stopping at CC. Prefer deck 2, didn’t like upper decks(5 & 7) too busy. I usually want a 7 day and go by price not ports, it’s the ships I love.

I really hope I can do this myself.

I’ve been thinking what if platinum got a week to get through, then a week for gold etc. Then that 3 day hold would leave more rooms for the next bunch.

But I think if they only did one ship at a time maybe that would work too. But that’s just as displeasing as my last suggestion.

We always book ourselves. For each ship, we have gone through the deck plans and made a ranked list of 10 staterooms we would be willing to book, ranked by our preferred choice. When it comes time to book we just start with going for the first on the list and then go down the list if it isn't available.

One issue we have run into is online the system will only show you a maximum of 16 available staterooms and they start with a specific side of the ship; if there are more available in your category and area of the ship then you won't see them - for us that can be an issue as our preferred stateroom may be on the other side of the ship than they start with. Also, we discovered with the Wish that when we selected 2 guests it would show us one batch of staterooms but when we selected 5 it would show a different batch -- same category and location -- and the one we wanted only showed up when we selected 5. So we booked online, choose a stateroom in the same category and location nearby then called and had them change the stateroom to the one we actually wanted.

For us, doing all the research in advance makes it easier come booking day, because we aren't really making any decisions on booking day, just doing the booking.
