Yesterday I was cleaning some things on my desk and I came across a quote from my physical therapist that might apply in this scenario. "Things are going in the wrong direction when you start to change your training plan to accommodate soreness."
That is to say, if you need to "take a week or two to rest," it's probably something worth getting checked out. If you can catch it now, it probably won't take too much to fix it. If you wait, yeah, you're flirting with disaster in November and December.
