Y’all, honestly all I can do is laugh at this point! The chronic daily autoimmune pain that’s all over my body is taking a break this week - yay!! Last run was Sat. - 10 miles, with extreme pain all over my right hip the last 3 miles. I’ve spent the past 4 days strolling a buncha miles around WDW: day 1, the hip pain was pretty bad, but it eased up every day after until I had none yesterday or this morning. So I tried a short run-walk this morning… and only made it 3 miles before my entire hip area tightened like a vice.

I keep saying “one more test run” before emailing rD to try begging for a refund of my marathon registration, but maybe it’s time to cut bait and send it. Clearly the Universe does not want me to run this marathon lol! I’m mostly at the point of not even caring much; I’m just annoyed that after feeling good abut it a few weeks ago, I booked a non-refundable resort stay for more days than I need if I’m not doing the marathon.

If anyone’s found something good for supporting a combination of groin/hip flexor/high-hamstring tendons, I’m all ears. I’ve got a big ACE bandage on now and it feels really good, but I don’t think I could run with it: too bulky. KT tape maybe??

Thank you Billy for organizing this! I’ll fill it out when I have a second at home.

Since race weekend excitement is starting, I wanted to offer to download race photos for anyone who won’t have Memory Maker. I think you get a max of 5 bibs per account? If that’s the case, Ill have 4 available for the 10k and full, and 3 available for the half.

Does anyone know if Disney would use your bib and your number for a picture on Everest or ToT much like the on-course Photopass photographers utilize your bib number for the pictures? It would suck to have to bring a MagicBand in order to get the picture if one dares to go on one of the rides during the marathon.

This is not from experience, but I don’t believe so, since the photographers manually tag the bibs to the photos they take.
If you’re taking your phone with you, you can add magic mobile (or whatever it’s called) to it and it should act as a magicband. And worse case, you can also ask for the missing photo afterwards. They’ll just ask for approx time and a description of your outfit.

Yep, last year I started in 5 and had maybe 20-30 minutes on them since the start went so fast. I should be in S2 this time with Club rD placement, and I always track one of the 16mm pacers to have some idea of my buffer. Super helpful - thanks!

As others have said, Billy's spreadsheet has all the magic math in it. I tracked the ride on my Garmin in 2020. I got to the ride at mile 17.33, which was 3 hours and 55 minutes after I started at 5:40am, so I got there at 9:35am. I was tracking the balloon ladies and knew I had about 45 minutes of buffer, and the fastpass allowed me to get right on, so I went for it.

p.s. I highly recommend leaving your Garmin ON if you ride to get an epic section of race like this.

Your pace in that section was probably amazing!

Keep in mind that the most important part of post-race activities is wearing your medal to the parks. Have a great race!
For those of you who are there for an extended period after the race, how long do you keep wearing your medals? Only that day? For an entire week? Until your legs stop hurting?

I don't know if anyone else had this thought or concern as well, but a solution is to simply pop the inside of the magicband out and carry that in your pocket or belt.

The slapband versions have a nifty silicone slider that holds the puck that is the perfect size to slip onto a Garmin band. I bought one just for this purpose. ;)

Hi. I'm mostly a lurker but the boards have been super helpful to me with all the information and experience people have to offer here! I have a question/advice for folks here about Everest timing. I completed my first Full at Disney last January and will be completing my second at Marathon weekend this year. I really want to ride Everest but I'm trying to figure out what the timing looks like. Last year, I started at around 5:15 AM and hit the 20 mile split in 3:46. Everest is around the 17 mile marker , correct? My training has been going well and I'm hoping to improve this year, but I'm also desperate to ride Everest mid race. I guess what I'm asking is what's the fastest you can be and still make it to AK when Everest starts running? (Not that I think I'll be THAT fast lol, but I'm just trying to gauge if doing some character stops between MK and AK might actually help me time Everest better?) Hopefully, this makes sense. Any advice is welcome!

I actually go a 3d-printed puck holder from Etsy that allows me to slip the Magic Band onto my watch band. It works great and isn't intrusive at all.

Looking at the map on the tracker site, I thought that this was interesting.

In Magic Kingdom, it looks like they have us running behind 7DMT as opposed to cutting left at the carousel. They also have us running through Adventureland rather than Frontierland, then completing a fairly hairpin turn in front of Splash Mountain.

I don't know where they're dropping mileage to account for these changes, but I do think that it'll be a nice change. I'd love to go through New Fantasyland, get spit on by a camel, and the Frontierland boardwalk sounds magical. I'm just not so sure about the bottleneck by Big Thunder with that very sharp u-turn.
