None of the Moderates Excite Me- Needing Suggestions

Coronado is the deluxe of the moderates, even more so with the expansion. Would you consider staying in the Tower. That puts you close to everything and would feel more like a deluxe.
I will price it and see. The goal is trying to save money. So, we were looking at standard rooms.

Skyliner is especially helpful if you have a toddler. Rolling the stroller straight on the Skyliner is a billion times easier than being smashed in the buses. That fact alone would make me pick a Skyliner resort.
We are planning on driving to the parks. We are skipping HS. So, Skyliner would only be helpful 1 day. So, that i
What about the Swan or Dolphin?
Might be too late for Christmas, but have you looked into a DVC rental?
Since we have a toddler, I want to be able to cancel in case of something. We aren't interested in DVC for this particular trip. Good idea, though

Since you are driving to the parks and not planning on deluxe (extra hours) would you consider Signia by Hilton Bonnet Creek. It gets Early Entry each morning. Lovely deluxe hotel minutes from the parks.

I think since the tower was built at Coronado, that bridges have been added to the standard areas surrounding the water, making it easier and faster to move about the grounds. I believe the mugs can also be refilled at the pool bar area.

Have you looked at Gran Destino?
I agree. Every time I have priced out hotels the Tower has always been extremely affordable compared to what you're getting. It's like staying in a classier hotel chain room like a Ritz or something and it's right up front not spread far back like the casitas.

This! Even if you drive to the parks, the Skyliner is convenient for travel to Riviera and Boardwalk for food.

I did Coronado for a couple nights with a toddler and the kiddie pool there is a basic wading pool, versus splashgrounds with kid-sized slides and water activities at the other moderates. My kids loved the one at Caribbean Beach. Another nice thing about CBR is if you do the refill mugs, they have Coke Freestyle machines scattered throughout the resort. Also, CBR has a great playground (we went there when my kids were 5.5 and just turned 3).

You’re going to have to chose what you’re gonna sacrifice here. Sorry, but there simply isn’t what you seem to be after (a deluxe Disney hotel with low mod prices).

If you want a Disney hotel and none of the mods excite you, you either accept the loss of excitement or pay more for a deluxe. I don’t blame you, I saw folks rave about POFQ and finally tried it to save some money and was SO happy when my 4 nights there were done. It just felt like a motel at Hotel prices- but that’s just me. Many LOVE it. Alas in those few days I realized I had a cutoff and at a certain dollar amount I want things like indoor hallways even if they don’t include Disney buses. So for me it’s deluxe, Swolphin, GDT or off-site. A value is ok if I need one night at Disney for some reason.

If you’re willing to go offsite you’ll have better chance of finding something that is a better bang for your buck if you can find availability but you will give up the Disney bubble.

Hey everyone! It's been about 3 years since we were at Disney due to COVID. We normally go twice a year and stay in deluxe resorts, but the costs in the last few years have just gotten crazy. For instance, it is $278 more for a standard room at the Poly now for the same week as we paid 3 years ago!

In an effort to save about $1800, we are looking at booking a moderate. The problem is... none excite me. We are going during the Christmas season.

*We stayed at the POFQ 3 years ago. Loved the small size, but the resort was boring. It was 3 years ago, though,
*We stayed at the Coronado 4 years ago. Loved the theming, but it was about a mile walk to the main building for drink refills.
*Caribbean scares me because it is SO big, and I am worried the Skyliner will make it obnoxiously busy (I know...all of Disney is busy...just saying in terms of crowds for a resort).

We have 1 toddler with us.

Thoughts? Opinions? (We have no desire to stay at a value.)

Thanks!
Thought these deserved an answer as well

-nothing has changed at POFQ in 3 years

-CSR is less boring with the tower which has the Barcelona coffee bar and Dahlia Lounge at the top and Toledos restaurant

-every single hotel and resort will be obnoxiously busy because Christmas. Like equally obnoxiously busy

Bummer GDT isn’t available. Maybe fudge with the dates a bit? A night or two elsewhere and transfer to GDT? Some more money for sure but I think it’s the middle ground you’re looking for. And it’s gorgeous at Xmas.

I would do a Standard Room at Gran Destino Tower, Coronado has become one of my favorite Disney resorts overall!
