Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Information & Questions + Construction Updates

This is Boca Chica but similar set up. I think you can see from picture what I’m talking about. Bump out room is upon request, used to be a deluxe room. It has extra seating and 2nd tv.
So is the bump out room on 5 the only one without a balcony? Sorry if any confusion from your last post

Anyone have a photo of how big pine key looks from the pool? Just trying to see how the baconies and layout of the rooms are

Every room on the 4th floor has a balcony right? Its the just 5th floor that some don't?

Also, are there any dedicated studios?

Thanks
Here's one I found online: VGF_E092.jpeg

Also, here's a better description of the unique rooms, like the Turret rooms and the ones that just have a bay window and no balcony. Not every room has a connecting door.

Thanks.

Those end right rooms on the 4th and 5th Floor look interesting. I read they are slighter bigger rooms, but the balcony look a little smaller. I assume two people can still fit comfortably on them?

We are overlapping at YC exactly one day (my birthday!)! 5/31 we switch to Poly for the rest of the trip. We are actually spending that morning at the Grand though, we are having breakfast at GF Cafe since my partner has never been there, and I booked our spa appointment there that day so that we could chill out there while we wait for our room to be ready at Poly. They let you use the facilities there the entire day of your appt. I am hoping to sell her on staying at GF before our cruise next year if we don't do the European one.

Lots of us going the end of the month! I hope the MK walkway will be open by then too, but I haven't seen too many construction updates lately.
Cruise next year?! I have never done a cruise, but have been interested after reading so many great reviews on the DCL threads. I'm extremely prone to motion sickness and have assumed cruises were a "no way" for me. However, I continually read reviews of others in the same boat (no pun intended) who did well on cruises w/some help from meds. Will be interested to hear your cruise comments. AND - jealous of all of you going at the end of the month (along w/my younger daughter who's doing a Graduation trip with friends, alas, without mom. Why didn't I say I had to go as chaperone?!)

No worries - a ship is not a boat :) 😉

I first started cruising in the 90s when ships were smaller. I was fine on the ship, even on rocky nights. It was when I got home that I felt motion sickness. Sometimes air travel makes me feel this way. I am about to show my age and you are probably much younger than me and have no idea what I am talking about but. . . There was a Brady Bunch episode in which they had just returned from some boat or something and Carol was in the kitchen and said, "would someone please quit rocking the house!" I felt a bit like that.

We didn't start cruising again until about 2007. Ships were/are bigger and I have never had that feeling from cruising again. Other than our Alaskan cruise, our sailings have been very smooth. DH said something about how the newer ships have better stablizers or something. Not sure, but whatever it is, ships are much smoother now. I usually just feel like I am in a giant hotel. Since the 2007 cruise, we have cruised with Princess and Royal and not Disney. But I bet the experience is very similar in terms of motion.

I think a shorter DCL might be a great cruise to try if you want to give it a go. Be proactive in taking meds and take them before you need them. Crusies are so fun. But if it gives you anxiety just thinking about one, it might not be worth it.

I am jealous of GF stays in those beautiful rooms. I am now thinking I should have done a split stay after all. I was waiting until everything was finished.

So funny! Hind sight is 20/20. You will be back before you know it, though.

Happy Birthday!! :cake:Mine was on the 8th. Maybe I will get a belated birthday button this trip.

May 30th is our travel day, of course. But we should get there early. If you see someone sleeping in the lobby or the rocking chairs on the patio outside later in the afternoon, it might be me taking a nap waiting for our room. 😞

It is on my bucket list too!

?? Next time!

I have only cruised once before ages ago, we had a big family vacation over my 30th on Royal’s Navigator of the Seas to the Eastern Med. out of Rome. I was extremely spoiled in a suite with my mom and aunt and loved it. Partner has never been on one at all! We have not been to Europe since before Covid so our short list includes a Spain/France sailing out of Southampton on Royal with a few extra days in Paris but we have been watching one too many DCL videos on YouTube! 🤣 And partner still has a 4 day hopper ticket she’s been moving around that’s a remnant of the one canceled trip that was to be 2 weeks. So we are considering a land/sea trip next year, I always wanted to do one. I have to see what the Treasure is like but I am princess obsessed and want to try the Wish. If we do that I want to stay at the Grand before the cruise. 🥰

On checkout day we plan on loading up our vehicle that morning but leaving it in the parking lot and going to a park all day. There wouldn't be an issue with leaving the car in the GF parking lot that day would there even though we checked out?

Nope. Even though you've checked out, you're considered a guest at that resort until midnight that day. So you can use the parking lot, the pool, and any other amenities that are restricted to guests of that resort.

I have done that at WL and it worked great! It was nice to have access to my things all day vs waiting for bell services.

We have our first ever Grand Floridian stay scheduled for this summer. It will be just me and DH celebrating our 30th anniversary. We are Disney experienced, but not GF. I have many questions and am hoping the DIS can help, you have all been friendly and helpful in the past. We have a Water view room scheduled for 5 nights in July. (new categories in effect when booked, states rooms have views of lagoon)

1. We REALLY would like a king bed, what is the best way to request one and what are the chances of getting one. There did not appear to be a way to book one.

2. I cannot find a picture or video of a remodeled King room anywhere-this has me concerned.

3. It seems all rooms have been refurbished with exception of the main building, are ALL rooms in main building CL?

I'll start with these and see what else I come up with. Thank you in advance for any answers, suggestions and or help.

Hi and Congratulations. Actually doing the same thing for our 32 anniversary early June. We have been lucky to be able to this every year for our anniversary for a while now.

Let me just take a minute to inform you I am not one of the resident experts here but while you wait I can tell you what I usually do.

I usually and have already started my check in on the WDW website. I only choose one request and its for a king bed, I also call a week before and make sure the request is there, because I read somewhere that a week out they start to figure out room assignments. Lastly, cross my fingers...lol, last year with all the renovations and losing BPK to DVC they were unable to get me a king room. I will say that I usually go over the check in before going to my room to ask if its a king room. If its not I try to ask to be moved, that worked once or twice, but obviously not last year.

Best of luck to the both of us, I can't wait to see what any one else has to say!
