Have not been to Disney in years and I see there r been many changes, scheduling, hopping only after 2 and the Genie+. I truly apologize if this was explained before but I can’t find it and we’re leaving tonight. I understand the Genue+ is for lightening lanes (previously fast pass) and also that its cost varies depending on date and park. Today my dil said you have to pay for each ride? IOW if the genie+ $15 that only gets you on one ride with lightening lane? So you have to pay for ll for each ride? Doesn’t sound right but I guess it’s possible. I have my room POR and tickets but haven’t purchased the Genie yet. HELP LOL.

Genie Plus is the paid version of Fastness. It doesn't include any rides which requires the purchase of Individual Lightning Lanes (ILL$)

Genie+ - one price to get possible access to a bunch of rides that you have to book slots for

Individual Lightning Lane - pay for one ride only, limited to two purchases a day

There are many with questions just like you. We created a thread with links to helpful threads explaining how things work now. You may wish to read the posts on page 1 linked to the, Planning Tips for Your Walt Disney World Trip - Start Here thread.

Rides, shows and more are still included with your price of admission. You can go and have a great time without paying for any of the up charges if you wish.

We are also heading to WDW today. I’m hoping to not need to purchase Genie+ or ILL$ but will if needed. Playing it by ear until we see how crowds are.

Genie+ is essentially a paid FastPass. The one price allows you to book "shorter wait" access to several rides (shorter wait than the standby queue - FP queue). How many may depend on how busy the parks are on your date(s). The link PP posted has a list of attractions. Again, the price gets you access to schedule from a list of several different attractions.

ILL$ (Lightning Lane) attractions are just 1-2 in each park that you pay for that 1 specific attraction. It's to access the LL (FP queue) for that 1 attraction.

Virtual Queue (VQ) is for Guardians of the Galaxy (Epcot) and TRON (Magic Kingdom). You must obtain a VQ or ILL$ or you cannot ride these 2 attractions.

You do have the FREE option of standby for any attractions except those with a VQ.

You didn't ask but just a reminder that you do need to have a theme park reservation for each day, not just a ticket.

Thank you! This information was so helpful. I think I get it now though it sounds like a pain!!
Yes I do understand the scheduling and have already reserved our parks.

Welcome to The DIS @debbie183879 :smickey:

GENIE+ is a great investment, but not mandatory. We will not go to WDW without buying it. I don’t have the patience to wait in line anymore.

Individual Lightning Lanes are also a great investment to avoid a long wait. You can try to get a virtual que, but that virtual que doesn’t mean you’re going to get on the ride quick - you may still be waiting for awhile.

Cast members will be there to help you - don’t hesitate to ask them.

Have a great trip!
