Was Disney gonna develop a merchandise line for boys in the 2000's

Things have improved in recent years, but sometimes the problem was that there was no merchandise made for female fans. I remember when I was younger and the only women's fit t-shirts for my favorite baseball team were pink. I didn't want pink, I wanted team colors so I had to buy a men's shirt.

That's what was cool about the "Her Universe" line from Ashley Eckstein.

Uh yeah, sorry but I can't take the source posted seriously when the writer is complaining about "radical third wave feminist narratives"
I also looked at the cited article; the paragraphs before what you quoted are even worse:

Box office analyst OMB Reviews predicts that if word of mouth does not turn on Barbie the film could gross $1 billion and be the second film to reach that mark in 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie being the first and bringing in $1.3 billion.

He relayed, “[Barbie’s] not going to be a flop. It’s made way too much money in its opening weekend for that to even be a possibility. So the only thing that I can really hope for — and this comes more to a hope in humanity versus anything else — is that the word of mouth on this movie finally spreads. People start to wake up to the fact that the marketing is incredibly deceptive and is not actually telling you what the movie itself actually is, and we see a massive drop off.”

“But right now, I will have to say I don’t suspect that to happen,” he continued. “Who knows. If it does happen I will be very, very happy. I will be very, very, very, very pleased, but if it doesn’t I can’t say I’ll be surprised. And if it doesn’t, a billion dollars is on the table then for a movie like this.”

He the [sic] posited, “And Lord knows what kind of message what kind of message that’s going to send the studios. It’s not going to be, ‘Hey, let’s make female-centric movies that are fun that people can enjoy’, but ‘Hey, let’s make a bunch of radical third wave feminist narratives and maybe disguise the movies just like we did with Barbie and that’s the way we can ultimately be effective.’

Yes, the quoted "box office analyst" was actually desperately hoping that people would turn against the Barbie movie. Obviously, humanity has disappointed him greatly:

This entire site is full of gems, I see. The recommended articles on the bottom of this one tell me right away that this wasn't worth a read in the first place and isn't an actual source of news.

Yes, the website cited is known for having a very specific slant borne out of the "comicsgate" movement. If you don't know that it, it's "gamergate" but for comics. If you don't know what that is...consider yourself lucky as it really is a bunch of nonsense.

Unfortunately I know all about Gamergate....I wish I didn't.

So only use sources approved just by the group on here, that all share the same very strong opinions. Doesn’t seem like a logical way to get to facts, but what do I know.

Come on, man. You do not have to use "approved" sources, but if you use a garbage source people are going to call you on it. I mean, you read the very article you posted right? Clearly that site has a strong bias. If you want to do box office analysis, there are plenty of places to get just the pure numbers. Of course, those numbers might not tell the story that you want them to, but I can't help you there.

I mean why on earth would anyone possibly think that Barbie audiences were predominantly female?

I am not sure I have ever even heard of that website before. Maybe I have, but never gave it one second thought before being corrected on here. I seek out data, from any source on a topic I am interested in.

Well, look, just read it. Do you agree witht he writer that was hoping that word of mouth would change the movie's fortune and that it should do poorly because of it's content? If so, then I guess you don't have a problem with that site. And, you know, that's fine, but expect that many won't agree with that sentiment.

Okay, sure, you're not wront that the audience was most ly female - but only 60-65% - that's not really a heavy skew. I haven't seen it, but every guy I know who has enjoyed it - for what that anecdotal evidence is worth (admittedly not much). I am not sure what the point is.

I didn’t read any verbiage, as I was looking for data.

How about the other two sources with very close numbers, those acceptable or do they also fail to meet inspection?

I'm not even sure what the point is, but part of that is I don't read most of what PF writes, because it is, well, pointless. If memory serves, this is not the first time this poster has taken the position that "girls in Star Wars are icky and gross."

Well, The Wrap is quite reputable. And agian, it's not that the numbers were in question, more the conclusion. I would probably recommend reading anything that you link to - suppose it contained non-DIS-friendly content?
