That's basically true for any membership, right?
When it comes to gc's, the noticeable difference will be on the limits whether it's per day, per transaction etc.

I know last year they gave access to BF deals based on whether you had a membership, their free program and then just regular people. I had been eyeing a deal. It was available to paid members, but the instant it became available to people in their free rewards program, it was sold out. It was a physical item, not a GC, but I wouldn’t put it past them to limit things to the people that pay.

FYI, Sam's has gotten much more persnickety about making sure that you are a new customer if you want to use this offer.

It used to be you just needed a new email address to be a new customer, not too crazy. This time, the new email still gave a warning that this was an existing customer and couldn't use the promo. Instead, we had to clear the mailing address, phone number, and email address from both of my husband's old accounts (reset his phone to mine, put in a dummy mailing address, put in different email addresses) in order for the system to read him as a new customer. The slick deals thread had a bunch of people with the same issue, so it looks like it's a system wide update that Sam's is doing to try to keep people from being a new customer more than once.

I also collect Disney and Marvel Steelbooks! I can't trust Disney+ to keep the entire catalog and I liked the collectable case for basically the same price. It feels better getting something to hold in my hands that includes a digital copy vs digital only. Oh well.

And 4K is even more stunning from the disc than from streaming.

My Sams gift card that was tracking on Rakuten is now 0.00, says "Sam's Club did not provide Cash Back for this purchase." Now I know gift cards were not excluded, but I also am not sure if I want to question it either. WWYD?

Weird data point- I’m in Disney now. I bought 3 $500 “ 100 years “ physical cards from ShopDisney. The cards worked fine in the gift shop and in the parks BUT the front desk could not connect it to our room, so we could charge back to the room using our magic bands? They ended up buying a few $15 DGC at the gift shop for us. using the App, I transferred my $500 cards to the $15 cards and then magically, it would connect to our room. Crazy! But the $500 physical ShopDisney Encanto card worked fine???

That's tricky, as stated earlier when I went after Rakuten on cb for merchandise they gave me the same response. I'm a patient person and never gave them the all caps nor was I ever aggressively rude when exchanging correspondence and I still got nothing. Later on when buying gc's, those were turned down almost immediately, I feel like my account has a red flag on it so I don't trust them to payout. When Rakuten has a new promotion, I wait at least a day before jumping in and only buy merchandise.

For anyone not in the same boat as me, at the very least I would put in a ticket to start some dialogue. When they assign a CS to your case send them the attachment with the list of their exclusions from that promotion and see what happens. If they come back and decline I would accept it.

I made 3 purchases - 2 on 10/7 and 1 on 10/11. Knock on wood, all 3 are still showing that they’ll be paid.

@wdw_dine_junkie when did you make your purchase? Sam’s is still showing cash back of “up to 10%,” but they changed the categories a couple of days to basically just include memberships. Just wondering if maybe you made your purchase after they made that change?

Had a similar issue with regular DGC's this summer. When I paid for the room at check in she had to enter the card numbers manually but they worked fine swiping at the parks later on.
