I saw your post shortly after you posted it, was about to text my DH, then remembered he had said we’d spent our DGC budget on several of Best Buy’s $50 DGC for $42.50 last week. Guess who came to me a couple hours later, having seen the Costco offer on FB! Turns out we hadn’t blown that discounted DVC dues budget after all!

RMN 4% BB dead but Rakuten is showing 4% now, no idea if it will track gc, the bonus seems dependent on what is bought.

ETA- Rakuten fail, its 2% back in most categories and only 4% back is on chromebooks lol

Costco canceled my last order, and sent me a note to check my card, that it had a problem.

It was a Costco Shop Card for $450 and they drained it down to 2 cents and then canceled my order. I think the real problem was I was trying to buy too many cards in too short a time frame. Maybe an hour and a half later the money was back, so I texted my son and asked him to order me 2 gift cards, using the supposedly defective shop card. They filled his order in about 30 minutes and he sent the info on to me. They have their own separate executive membership, so no issues.

I still need more gift cards but was able to apply $2400 counting the Sam's Club $400 I picked up earlier. I also have a couple of 15% off $100 offers, a Home Depot 10% offer off $150 and more usually come along. I may try more Costco if the cards last a little bit longer, as my DD has an account plus my son offered to try to do another order. Just have to buy some more shop cards.

I ordered 4 cards via Costco (through friends, but I have them in my email) and two sets of 3 from BB myself over the past day-ish, and not a single one of these ten numbers is recognized on the DGC site when I tried just now (generic error message for all). The DGC rep I talked to on the phone says the account numbers are invalid, so I’m hoping it’s this “activation” issue I’ve read about vaguely in a few spots and the BB/Costco customer service reps can help me tomorrow. I don’t think my whole email account has been compromised, as then the cards would load/show a balance of zero. I was able to add my physical card (that correctly shows a balance of zero) just fine so I know it’s not a browser issue. The orders have not been canceled, and my credit card was charged. My trip isn’t for two more weeks so I have time, but it makes me nervous!

ETA: just tried on my phone and it a BB one worked, but not Costco. Will keep trying!

What do you mean by 10 numbers?

DGCs have a 16 digit account number and for the most part an 8 digit EAN (security code), though the site does say 4 or 8 digit.

Never mind, I see you know mean you have 10 cards. Late night math, oops. I missed the fact that you had 2 sets of 3 cards. Thought you meant you only had 10 digit account numbers.

I know when I order E-gift cards from Target and Best Buy I get an email with a link and then I have to enter my email and I then get the numbers and the security code from a " Specialty E-Gift Card" website.

Are you getting the DGC account numbers from the "Specialty E-Gift Card" site? They don't email the account numbers.

Yup. I clicked into where I get a barcode and the account/EAN numbers. I just updated original post- tested one BB from my phone instead of laptop and it worked, but got same error for a Costco one again. Feels like there’s some glitch somewhere working itself out

Could be. I’d try again in 24 hours. Sometimes it takes gift cards a bit to load into the system. This happened most recently with Lyft and Amazon, took about a day for the cards from Black Friday to become valid. Target used to put a note on their in store purchased gift cards that the cards wouldn’t activate for a few hours to buffer this sort of problem.

Thanks for the tip! Weirdly I got 5/6 BB cards to load just now- the one that won’t is in the same transaction as two others so it seems random. The Costco ones are several days old. But I feel a bit better now and will give the others more time.

Try another web browser too. Sometimes the DGC site can be wonky

Could be as to what @gottalovepluto said about the activation time.

FWIR at Target your order if buying GC's used to ring up right away but the past couple years when you order rings up there is a slight delay before it goes through. I figure it's because the system now does it's magic and the cards are activated when you buy them instead of the system waiting and sending out the activation and getting a confirmation back. There could still be times now where the system isn't able to get them activated right away and that could be what you are going/went through and could explain why the DGC rep said the numbers were not valid.

I was able to get 9 more dgcs from best buy last night, after my 24 hours had passed. They took about 20 minutes to be delivered after I placed the order. It was enough to pay off my upcoming trip, yay!
