Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Think the tower will still open end of this year? Seems like they have a lot to go but still have 10months.

Man the emotions are really starting to get me. 27 days until check in and I'm watching some Poly videos and sitting here crying lol. I can't believe I will actually be staying there. I have been going to Disney for over 40 years and this is my first stay there. I have been there before to just check it out and also to do the Luau but that is it. I am looking forward to the feeling I will get when I step off the Mears bus and walk through the lobby doors and get my lei.
How wonderful for you! For me also, there is no feeling like arriving at a Disney resort. We've had to delay our Aug 2024 trip to Aug 2025 now, so I have another year to plan and talk myself into, out of and back into, a full stay at the Poly instead of a split stay (13 nights). Have an amazing stay :D

I had wanted to stay at the Poly ever since I remember wanting to visit Disney. I finally rented some DVC points and stayed there in January 2020. And walking into the lobby lived up to expectations! I hope you have a great time there...it just feels Disney in a way few of the other resorts do. Aloha!

What was your favorite part and what is the one thing that everyone who goes there should do?
I loved watching the fireworks (something we skip a lot because my kids and husband generally don't like crowds). We loved the lobby, the dole whips, monorail, 'Ohana was great as always, the hot tub at the main pool is one of my favorites (not too hot and pretty views). I also thought the walk to TTC was much easier than I anticipated after watching videos and we definitely preferred it on our epcot days.

My teens say if you go to the Poly to make sure to get a dole whip or two and enjoy the monorail. My youngest liked watching fireworks in a hammock at the beach the best. I would say the most important thing to do on a Poly trip is to make sure your schedule allows for some resort time - it's beautiful and really feels like a destination itself.

On arrival day we plan to spend our day exploring the resort. I have already told my daughter that I want to get a dole whip and enjoy it while watching the water pageant if they serve that late.

Is the walkway from Poly to GF open? (And beyond, I suppose? We love walking from Poly to MK). The last news I could find was back in September when a closure was announced.

Thanks!

Our trip NYE it was closed and they said should be for a while with all the construction mess. It had been open yet moved at the start of construction.

We mono’d from poly to gf and boated from gf to poly most days, We did walk from MK once to GF ( visiting friends)and loved the walk from poly to TTC for Epcot trips.

Yeah, I had lost track that the path was in fact closed until there over NYE. I hate it honestly - we walk/run to GF and MK a lot. Plus no access to the gym. If I had realized this we would have maybe thought twice about Poly.

When I was there the signs saying “path closed” were up but the fencing was pushed aside on both the Poly and GF sides. Frankly I thought about just walking it anyway, didn’t seem like much stopping you other than being a sign follower (which is what I ultimately opted to do). lol.

I’m guessing they feel construction traffic is too much so just easier to say it’s closed than risk the pedestrian/traffic pinch points.

The DVC longhouses are not really close to the GCH. They aren’t terribly far away - but the longhouses closest are not DVC. Tokelau is the closest but is also the most requested. Pago Pago does have parking lot views but is so close to the TTC that I don’t mind it at all. Moorea has the Theme Park views (one one side) but that is a bookable category (Lake View). Moorea also has the ferry boat horns which really bothers some people. If you didn’t book Lake View your chance of a Theme Park view is relatively small. There are a few Tokelau rooms where you can see the castle - IF you lean out from your balcony (I am being a tiny bit sarcastic). All in all, there is not really a DVC Longhouse that I don’t like. Each has their pluses and minu

I was wondering the same thing. We were hoping to go around December and it sure would be nice if everything was finally finished!

Progress on the exterior of Poly Tower has really picked up these last few days. Painting and exterior elements being added (facing Grand Floridian Way). A few of the rooms now have tarp covering the balcony door, so I assume they will start working on the interior of the rooms (though I could be wrong).

Can anyone tell what these wide balconies will be on the roof of Poly Tower (facing Seven Seas Lagoon)? Maybe 2-bedroom or Grand Villas? My first thought was a rooftop bar/DVC lounge (imagine a Trader Sam’s rooftop bar with fireworks views…), but there appears to be rooms directly next door on both sides.

My guess would also be a grand villa. Seems a bit of a missed opportunity to not have a rooftop restaurant/lounge so I hope they have plans for that somewhere.
