Eh, I guess that's probably true for someone who wants to be king. For myself I'd have zero interest in such a high profile public role, among other things about the gig that I definitely wouldn't enjoy at all.

I agree. Even though he is surrounded by staff, they are his employees, not his friends. It would be difficult to know who you could trust as far as friends go, and it’s not like they can just drop by and hang out. I understand that he has a small, loyal group of friends, but since he became king I doubt he sees them very often. That just leaves immediate family as the people to spend time with, and they all have their own work to do. I hope his friends are able to visit while he is undergoing his treatments to keep his spirits up.

There are perks to the job, but personally I think the negatives outweigh the positives.

Wonder why they are not saying what it is . Makes everyone think of the worse .

I wish your brother well but I, personally, have known no one that survived Pancreatic Cancer. Sad, but very true.

In the case of King Charles I suspect they really don't want to say what is happening until they have had some time to treat it and they know more what the prognosis is. I honestly have no real concern about him based primarily on how he treated Diana. Yes, I realize that the "family" was more responsible for that circumstance than he was. Until then I kinda always identified with him but only because my mother always made a big deal out of the fact that he was born four months after I was. I'm not sure why it is significant to her but it was!

No, but if you're King the restaurant will come to you. I'd like to feel sorry for them but they are hardly hermits. The queen used to go shopping on her own, even drove her own car. The British have a real attachment and respect for the royal family. They aren't like us yankees that will run up and knock children over to get an autograph of someone famous.

They would close Fortnum and Mason in London for her to browse and do a bit of shopping. I loved walking through F&M after hearing that story.

or maybe it was such short notice, that it was always going to be a short visit, that he had to fit the trip into prior arrangements, and had to fit in with flight times. When you fly America to Europe its an over night flight so you leave on a Tuesday and arrive on a Wednesday but going Europe to America you leave and arrive on the same day.

The comment was made in reference to his medical care. The wealth and prestige of his high profile public role will no doubt ensure he has the best medical experts working on his behalf with no delays.

If true that's incredibly sad. The Walter Payton award is about giving back to community with a players time and talents as well as philanthropy.
There are many good and decent former NFL players who would have been honored to give out the award for free.
