Just to add, I understand the stress, I do, but it is not hard to get into a bg. It's not.
You saw today people that opened the app at 7am and still got a "guaranteed" bg, even with it being closed in a minute. Even getting a low number backup bg will most likely get you in today.
Obviously set your expectations right. Do not expect first group or anything like that, just now that you will most likely ride the day you try if you are there before park opening.

Normally I would agree but it's dismaying that they're running out in one minute at one of the lower crowd times. It gives no leeway for error. I know people were complaining about them running out in 5-7 minutes but to me there's a huge difference between 1 minute and 5 minutes. Much more so than say, 5 minutes and 15 minutes. I'm very curious if this is due primarily to the lowering of guaranteed boarding groups or if crowds are really that much larger or some other factor. I really did not expect to see below 5 minutes again on a non-holiday weekend.

I think it is way too premature to call Disney out for “inconsistency.” This is ONE day. If we had tracked a pattern of inconsistency that would be a different matter. Who knows what happened, but my guess is some sort of computer glitch. And that could have been out of Disney’s control.
But if this was your one day who cares that it was a one off- you still did the planning and played their game, and still got screwed.

If today was your one day and you joined by 7:01am you're good. It only opened a minute before 7am Up to bg 59 right now. It goes up to 99 for regular bg.

Is there an update as to how long it's been taking before the BGs are filled? Going on Sunday!
It looks like somebody hasn't been reading the chart...

I'm kidding - and I will help you, lol. In recent days, Disney has been handing out less "guaranteed BGs" so they've been going in 2-3 minutes BUT in practice many more people are riding. Since we don't have a handle on what BGs get handed out when, it would purely be a guess but I'd think on most days anybody in the park by 7:10 is getting a chance to ride. (And on some days people arriving at 8am or later are being called back)

Yep, it would suck. And who knows? I may be in that very position as we are going for one day in February and only for this ride. BUT my point is that it is not fair to Disney to imply they are purposely or carelessly being inconsistent because the boarding groups opened early on one day.

To be clear - I am NOT asking for another chart column!!!! But I'd really like to know approximately what BG is being distributed at 5 minutes after opening each day regardless of whether it's a back up or regular. As I alluded to above, if we're handing out BG 106 at 7:05 every day - it's almost irrelevant whether 106 is a "guaranteed" or a "backup" as far as your schedule that day is concerned.

Hey, everyone. Word of advice here. Don't get mad in advance!! You have no idea what's going to happen the day you go. Be prepared. Follow this thread. That's all you can do. RotR is a very complex bunch of stuff (that's the technical, nonspoiler term!) and it's still not working 100% of the time. In fact, I don't think there's any ride at WDW that runs 100% of the time.

You can have a FP+ for whatever and that ride may not be working when you get there and that was the only time you had to ride it. Even if they give you an anytime FP+ as compensation, it doesn't matter, because your chance to ride whatever it was is gone. This happens. It stinks, but it happens.

Want to ride the railroad? Too bad. It's closed until Tron construction is finished. I'm not amused by this at all, but I can't make them change things.

Approach this whole RotR BG situation with the attitude that you will get a BG. OK, so maybe you won't. Maybe something will happen and the ride will be down all day and no one will ride or your app won't work or you'll be the first backup BG that doesn't get to ride. But don't start thinking negative stuff now. It's not helpful. To you.

I have spoken. :)

Interesting (and somewhat disturbing) trends in the chart... there was a period of "normalcy" where the BGs were lasting for 10-20 minutes (almost half an hour one morning), but now it seems back to the insanity of all being gone within about 1-2 minutes! 😲

I hope things settle down. If they're available for 10 minutes, anyone in the park should have an adequate shot at getting one. I just don't see slow wifi, etc. delaying someone that long. But our trip is mid-March when Spring Break crowds will have picked up, so I'm bracing myself for all BGs to be gone within seconds. The week before our trip should be a good indication of how insane it's going to be when we get there.

But if everybody took a positive attitude like that...would it really be a Disney message board then?

(I agree with everything you said by the way - all aboard the positivity train!!)

Absolutely no way to know this number as its not about the time if distribution but on demand

Hey! In other news, we're already up to 59 :D :D
Really seems like maybe the BG sizes are getting smaller, which would explain why they're filling up so quickly again and why they're running through them so much faster early in the day, isn't this the 2nd or 3rd day in a row where they seemed to be calling BGs faster than they had been?

They've lowered the number of "guaranteed" bg to not have to deal with guest recovery that much, this is why they're going out fast but a low backup bg wil get you on the ride

The ride is popular (for good reason). No system is perfect. Some will always prefer another way. For us being here at 0630 and playing the game was way better than sitting 4+hrs in line like it was for FoP earlier this week. I would be more furious waiting for 3 hours only to have the ride down. BG at least lets you explore other things.
Just be ready to go 5min before parke opening. We got in both days even with the wrench that was tossed in.

It's simple really... Disney was handing out on average 105 regular BGs on the days when they lasted longer. In the past 5 days they've only been handing out an average of 80 regular BGs. That difference of 25 BGs is why they are going to backups faster. BUT this also has no bearing on how many people are actually riding. Disney is attempting to accommodate the max # of people the ride will allow everyday so on this particular point, I wouldn't read too much into that. @yulilin3 has made a ton of comments on this already today basically along these same lines.

In my opinion, there really is no reason to adjust the # of people in a BG. They either release more of them or less of them. They call them back faster or slower, but I firmly believe that they are not playing with the # of people in a BG everyday. It just seems to add a level of unnecessary complexity to this. (I also have no insider knowledge so your opinion is certainly valid too, it's just not how I see it).
