I'm a non-member who received a long weekend stay at Vero Beach as a birthday present. I've never been before, and could use all the info I can get on what there is to do at the resort.

1) types of activities and cost
2) where to dine, and what the on site restaurants offer, and then some ideas for dining off-site
3)Are beach chairs available or available for rental?
4) How hard is it to get booked for a massage?

I'll be there this weekend 9/7-9/11! There are 3 of us in an Ocean View Inn room. Is the Ocean view worth it, or would it be better to try for a 1 bedroom suite, even if it isn't an ocean view. We aren't planning on cooking any meals, other then maybe cereal and toast for breakfast.

Thanks for any and all info

We were just at Vero in June and we had an Inn ocean view room. The view is great. I would not change it. The great thing about the Inn room is you will have 2 beds, and a kitchenette. You have a coffee maker, sink, micro, fridge, toaster. the room is very spacious. Also you are in the Inn,. not one of the outer buildings. So, you are right where the restaurants are and the store.

Beach chairs, umbrellas, and cabannas are available for rent on the beach.

We are going next July, because we need an assessable room and they are all on the ground/first floor and (my son is in a wheelchair) is he going to be disappointed when he looks out of the patio i.e. is there loads of shrubs etc so he won't have a view of anything

I believe Vero has an elevator at the Inn, so any floor would be good for your son, depending upon his needs. The rooms above the second floor have views of the ocean, and they are wonderful! I was in a wheelchair when we were there, and had no trouble on the third floor. I was somewhat mobile, though, since it was only my knee that was involved, so I was able to stand, and there were only two of us in the room. You might also want to post on the DISabilities board for more info. :flower:

We were at Vero for the first time last week and I have to admit we were very disappointed and it's highly doubtful that we will ever go back. Maybe we were spoiled by the HH beach but we did not like the beach at Vero at all. The beach area was so small and there was a drop-off that was about 2 feet high. There was tar in the water and both times that DH and my girls went in the water they came back with tar on their feet or legs. I have had problems with tar in Bermuda but I never knew that it was a problem at Vero. We stayed in a 1BR and it was very run down. The walls were a mess and the sofa had quite a few stains on it. We were not comfortable sitting on the furniture so we requested extra blankets to cover it. I just didn't feel like I was staying at a Disney resort. It almost felt as if the standards weren't as high as those at the WDW resorts. We didn't feel like that at all when we stayed at HH a couple of years ago.

On a positive note, the housekeeping staff was great. They were very pleasant and quick to respond to our requests. We loved Shutters so much that we ate there all three nights we were there.
