We celebrated our youngest 3rd birthday at WDW (she turned 3 in the middle of our trip so she was considered 2yo for the week), she was often offered a free meal. I remember CRT, Akershus and BOG telling me to order something in the kid menu for her and they never charged me. I was prepared to pay a few meals OOP for her (we had the DDP) but it turned out that it wasn't necessary. That was in 2015 so things might have changed...

I apologize, but I don't have time to read through this thread and need a quick answer -- can you still trade one QS for 3 snacks?

At the resorts, some places in Disney Springs, and the food booths at various festivals in EP, yes you can. Just in the parks at various QS and snack locations is much more hit or miss, with mostly miss.

At Ghiradelli do they trade QS credit for 3 snacks? And how about the sweet shops in MK?

I know it sounds like most believe that the dining plans are not a good value, but they really can be. I have a solo trip booked in February with dlxdp and I have calculated that I am coming out about $250.00 ahead of paying OOP. That is without buying the most expensive item on each menu. I think it works only if it works in with the way you really want to eat. If you aren't going to want to utilize all of the entitlements of the plan then you probably aren't going to come out ahead. I like to look at the menus on allears to try and price out what I would order at the places I am interested in eating at. I don't really add any value for the refillable mug as I almost never use it over the course of my trip. Of course you have to factor in what the tips would be ahead of time as well. I am figuring my tips to be a minimum of $200.00 for a 7 night trip.
I did the exact same thing. We're going January. At start thought I'd do OOP, but after the price hike, and getting the dining plan for $60 pp pd, well, my calculations bring us approx $200 ahead for 7 days, even before counting the snack credits.

It's been a few trips since we used the DDP, but it looks like it might fit for our next one... I cannot seem to find a definitive answer to this question though: can a child order an adult entree at a QS restaurant? I am specifically wondering about BOG, Flame Tree, San Angel? Thanks in advance.

As far a I understand and remember from our last trip, a QS credit is the same for all. So as a family, you get a number of QS credits for everyone, no matter the age, and TS credits you get for adults and child separately.

Does the DDP increase in cost every January? We just did the DDP in the summer and my kids really loved it, so I was going to add it to a current reservation I have for this April. If I add it now, would I keep this current pricing even if it goes up in January? Or would they automatically adjust my cost to the new DDP cost. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I read that there is no price increase for adults, but a slight increase for the 3-9 ages, for 2019.

There is no rhyme or reason as to when they increase DDP costs. If you book it right now, you pay the price it is today, no matter when you go or when/if they increase the price. HOWEVER, if you make changes to your room or tickets after a price increase, you MIGHT have to pay the increased price. It just depends on the changes.

It's been a very long time since we've done the (Regular) Dining Plan. Are these rates approximately correct for 2019?

Ok, so I am one of those people who has never seen the value in the dining plan (for us). It is only the 2 of us and I am a strict vegetarian. We upgraded to annual passes last week while we were at Disney and have a short 5 night trip for march and a week planned the first week of next December.
As we were on the magical express to the airport on Saturday I started googling the food and wine festival just for fun. 5 minutes later I texted the lady I rent my dvc points from to see if there was availability at the BC the first week of September. There was!! So I bit the bullet and booked it. My boyfriend's birthday is august 18th and we leave on the 31st. He has no idea I booked this trip, I am going to try to keep it a surprise until his birthday. (He was sitting right next to me on the bus as this all happened, I can't believe I didn't tell him)

Now that I have given you a ton of useless information here is my question for all of you ddp experts. My understanding (which could be very wrong) if that you can trade 1 qs meal for 3 snacks as long as they are used in 1 transaction. I'm primarily interested in this for the f&w festival. can we order 1 beer, 1 wine and 1 snack in the same transaction and have it count as 1 qs credit? Between the 2 of us we would have 16 snack credits a day if we exchanged all of our qs meals. In all honesty we probably wouldn't exchange all of them but I'm guessing we would do quite a few. Thanks in advance!!

I have heard you can trade 1 qs for 3 snacks but it won't work the way you want it to. You can trade it for 3 items that are marked as snack credits which would exclude the beer and wine. The only way to get your alcoholic beverage is to have it be your beverage choice at a quick or table service restaurant. Snack credits don't work on alcohol at this time (in the future? Who knows but as of right now, the 2019 Dining plan has had no changes from 2018).

Thanks to the heads up from @Rick195275 !

It probably doesn't make much of a difference to most families, but the kid's price has been raised on all plans.

2018 price vs 2019 new price:

    QSDP 21.75 to 23.77
    DDP 25.75 to 27.95
    DxDP 39.99 to 43.47

Adult prices are still the same

    52.50
    75.49
    116.25

Current (as of Nov) prices are in the above quote.

Thanks for your reply, I figured it couldn't be that easy.

I have been running the numbers for the last hour to see if I can get the regular DDP to work for us because I definitely want to book Ohana, crystal palace, bog breakfast & the river of lights dinner.
Another question for the experts. I know signature restaurants aren't the best use of credits but if I book California grill can 1 person use the dining plan (2 credits) and 1 person pay out of pocket if we are on the same reservation?
As I said earlier, I am a vegetarian and it would be a complete waste of 2 credits for me to use them. Thanks.

YES, you can have some pay with credits and some pay OOP.
