until at least 2022.
My guess is that DCL will be one of the last cruise lines to resume passenger operations (unlike most other cruise lines, DCL represents a relatively small percentage of it's parent company's overall revenue, so they can afford to err on the side of being relatively more conservative). Along those lines, I don't expect any DCL cruises until sometime in 2021 at the earliest.
However, even if DCL resumes passenger operations in 2021, I expect a lot of restrictions until Covid 19 is more or less in the rear view mirror. For example, I expect face masks will be required (for both crew and passengers) in any public areas on cruise ships well into 2021 and perhaps into 2022.
Accordingly, until (and unless) we reach a "new normal" in cruising that does not require restrictions such as face masks, I won't be cruising. This includes a scenario where face masks are only required for crew and not passengers.
And it's not that I'm anti face mask in general. It's just that there's absolutely no way I'm forking over thousands of dollars and precious vacation time to feel like I'm on a hospital ship.
