I am currently booked at YC. Has anyone heard if they are shifting guests to other resorts or just flat out cancelling the reservation?
Do you think the upgrades will be free or chargeable? Just your opinion as I realise nothing official has been confirmed xI doubt they will close any Deluxe since they all have DVC attached. Most likely they will temporarily close some value or moderate. POFQ was closed for awhile after 9/11, Pop Century construction stopped. I doubt they would flat out cancel when they have so many people voluntarily cancelling. They will offer moves/upgrades.
If you get moved you would not have to pay any extra.Do you think the upgrades will be free or chargeable? Just your opinion as I realise nothing official has been confirmed x

I bet they are waiting to see who cancels and then play Tetris trying to figure out who goes where. The hotel I work in has a 50% occupancy cap, wondering what Disney's will be (if any).Agree. That being said, due to DVC, trying to limit capacity and Disney trying to make money my guess would be if they start cancelling reservations it would be value and moderate first. They cannot legally shut down DVC resorts based on Florida timeshare laws.
And they also have to worry about park capacity. Unless we think there is any way they have more hotel guests than park capacity and just tell people they cannot use the parks when staying at a hotel (seems unlikely). Unlike a normal hotel I think their calculation starts with parks, accounts for local AP then works in hotels. Understanding they have to keep DVC fully operational.I bet they are waiting to see who cancels and then play Tetris trying to figure out who goes where. I would think resort guests will have priority since they are spending more than locals. And they also have to worry about park capacity. My TA friend has been told that the initial plan is not to open all WDW resorts and that guests will be moved to other resorts, starting with A. move to the DVC resort complexes that are opening up June 22nd,
If this does happen for sure,,,things are always subject to change,,,guests will have no choice of resort they will be moved to,
For many value and moderate guests, it would be a free upgrade. It did sound like if a guest was not happy with the move, their only option will be to cancel,
No word on how long this would be in play or when WDW will have all resorts open back up.
But that is the message she sent to all her clients who have WDW trips booked
Honestly that is more than ok with me just will be happy to be there.I believe @Sandisw posted in another thread that her TA friend was advised that some resorts will not open when the parks reopen. Guests with reservations at the still-closed resorts will be given the opportunity to move to a resort selected by Disney or cancel their reservation. They will not be given a laundry list of resorts to choose from. It will be take this resort or cancel.
Here’s the post from that other thread:
OP has a reservation at Yacht Club, the only deluxe without an attached DVC. I suspect if Disney closes any deluxe resorts it will be Yacht Club.I doubt they will close any Deluxe since they all have DVC attached. I should have prefaced that with once they open the resorts they need to open DVC. During the full closure DVC could hide behind the larger closeure. But if they can open resorts, they can not restrict owners from accessing their properties if they in fact can open. But they did shut down DVC since March.
As far as Disney is concerned they can do what ever they want and have by cancelling all dinning reservations. It is their resort. If they want to move you they can and will.
Going forward until the situation improves, or always? The hotel I work in has a 50% occupancy cap
i dunno. I can see them not yet opening moe deluxe resorts - potentially any property where DVC is a separate building.OP has a reservation at Yacht Club, the only deluxe without an attached DVC. I suspect if Disney closes any deluxe resorts it will be Yacht Club.
DVC, deluxe and sky liner resorts would be last to close. They don’t have good upgrades from AOA because suite rooms are too plentiful there. I would think POR and PORFQ would be easy closes. All stars or some of the all stars could close as well. I think Coronado will either close or host NBA. It is possible they may take another resort and make it NBA only as well. Just my thoughts and likely all wrong.
