as promised!
We were there last week and it is a beautiful resort. This is the front entrance of the main building where you check in
Just a note to those renting - when you check in you are sent to a second desk where you are asked to sign up for a tour. The woman was very nice, however, it was obvious she was not going to give up and let us go until we signed up for a time. So we did, so we could go to our room, but then did not show up. They did offer $75 cash and a 3 day/2 night stay (not sure if it was for Bonnet Creek only or all their resorts), but it was not worth the time for us.
The staff were all very nice and as accomodating as they could be. We were told by the owner we rented from that we were on the lake side of the building, but we ended out being on the parking lot side. The gentleman that checked us in bent over backwards to make us feel better about this, but there was just so much he could do (we ended out in Bldg 2 Room 641). So, the view wasn't as nice, however, we did have a view of Pop Century (zoomed in - from our balcony)
and really heard very little construction noise (two bldgs are going up around the lake and an addition is being built to the main building). I also had the pleasure of watching the morning balloons taking off as I ate breakfast from the balcony on our "early" days (they took off around 7:30 am)
And on to the room itself - it was spacious and very clean. The kitchen was fully stocked and we had plenty of towels. We did not have pool towels, however (they should be in your room when you arrive), but that was taken care of for us quickly. We also had a clogged drain in one of the sinks, that was fixed within 15 minutes of calling down to notify the front desk of this.
The decor - pictures speak better than words!
The master bedroom
The kitchen
The dining area
The living room
a large tv armoire was across from the couch
and the second bedroom
Recreation - there are 2 pools, a lazy river, water play areas at both pools, a mini golf course, volleyball area (no pic - sorry!), playground, rec room with a pool table and games, a ping pong table outside of the main building, and an activities center.
The first pool and the lazy river are behind the main building, along with a water play area
The rec room pool table in the main bldg
The slide pool and "mushroom" are between bldgs 2 and 3 - the slide was geared toward younger kids, mine are 13 and 15 and they said it was very slow and small, but for younger kids I'm sure it's lots of fun. It was open from 9-5 each day.
And the playground
and mini golf course
They had daily activities, we were given a list at check-in. If people are interested I can post what they were. There was shuttle service to the parks(we had a rental car so we did not use it) - I can also post the times and info we were given if anyone is interested.
Again, this is a very nice place, and as we all know, the location is great. I doubt anyone staying there would regret it. I would certainly stay there again, except for the fact that we bought into DVC while we were down there(!). If anyone has any questions, please ask away.
