Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

Oohh, I love a good Chinatown!! My fave is still San Fran.

I'd love to see that someday.
I like Chinatowns.
They have a nice one
in Toronto.
Small one here in town.

And even better is the fact that the busy-ness is 90% Asian. A good sign it's authentic!

You know... I didn't even
notice that.
I had to go back and look
at the photo!

Noodles take up too much precious cargo room for other better stuff.

But I consider noodles
one of those "better stuff". ;)

Like beans. I LOVE those crispy, garlicky things.

Then next time I go,
you come with me
and you can eat all of them.

I will save precious cargo
for other better stuff.

Huge pet peeve of mine. Galls me every time I have to pay for parking. And Seattle is the WORST!

Oh, sure... Now you tell me!

@Malia78 and I went in last year together after the first PWNMM I went to.

I remember that.
That TR was the reason
I was in Seattle in
the first place!

I read that when I researched for my TR. It a deserved title.

Philistine!
I happen to like it! :snooty:

Actually for a whole day, including transportation, that's not a bad price. If I had one day in Seattle to see the sights, I might do that.

I had a day... but chose...
other things.

Coming up in 2 updates.

I did this museum with my girls years ago and was awestruck at the sheer size.

Oh! So you've seen it.
Wasn't it great????

But this stood out for the incredible color!

That ceiling is... a bit...
breathtaking.

I have the same photo, but yours is a million times better. :)

I highly doubt that.

LOL! I did that too 5 years ago.

Great minds!

This actually may be my favorite photo of the entire update.

:goodvibes:
Thanks! I love when I
can take photos like that...
but the opportunities are
sometimes a bit hard to come by.

OH! Disney is leasing out their animatronics now! Cool!

Some lady with an umbrella
in one hand and a carpet-bag
in the other put it there.
I looked at the bird for a second,
and turned to ask her about it,
but it's like she disappeared!
Weird thing was, instead of
looking at the bird, everyone
was staring up into the sky
with their mouths open.
Weirdos.

Fun update!

Thanks! Fun comments! :)

If it's busy then they have to keep replacing the food on the buffet too.

Yes, that's true.
I occasionally go to a
buffet here in town that
is very popular (hard to find
a place to sit and you will
share a table if it's a large one)
and they're constantly re-filling
the trays. Fresh!

Great! I'll buy! :)

They taste great going in but it's hell getting them to leave. Once on the lips forever on the hips or in my case the gut.

Well... there's that.
Why are good things bad?

She was already planning to go. I've offered to show her your update.

Let me know if she does!

Yes he does. Doesn't he have a life of his own?

He does.
It's me that doesn't.

So funny I should see this post today! I took my son's Cub Scout pack on an overnight to the First Division of War Museum over the weekend

Nice!
Did the displays all
come to life, too?

(it was amazing! They have beautiful gardens to explore if you ever find yourself in Wheaton, IL!)

Now you tell me!
I was 30 minutes away
last fall.

and they watched this movie with their late night snack before bed. My son will not stop saying DUM DUM now!

I believe you!

Ugh! That doesn't sound
overly pleasant.
Good luck keeping your
head above water!

Realistically it is quite a bit above water but it has been a battle. Should finish with a B+ or A- average for the semester.

You should!
It's absolutely stunning.

I have added it to my list of things I want to do!

I've got only about a month
before I head back to WDW,
so yes, things are well! :)

Ah! Jealous. TR?

No. You don't.

I've been to Seattle ~50 times and never been.

Seattle is home to the
Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit.

I have been trying to see this for ages but every time I head to Seattle nobody else wants to go :(

Impressive!

Ah! Jealous. TR?

But of course. :)

I've been to Seattle ~50 times and never been.

Then you probably already
know you don't really need to.

Then ditch 'em.
What do they know???

Ooh - Cantigny! Did you know that Scouting groups can camp there very cheaply? (It was free up until a few years ago, you just had to reserve way in advance). Lots of fun - and nice tornado-proof buildings in case of storms... (ask me how I know...ok, it was just a storm, not a tornado, but...)

How do you know?

popcorn::

Lol. Let's just say, on our second Girl Scout camping trip there, we got to try out their storm shelter facilities! We were getting ready to make dinner, and they came around telling everyone at the camp sites to get to the shelter, which was a big masonry building. We got to hang out and tell stories and play games for about an hour or so. We had one of those little shelter things that we put over one of the picnic tables (4 poles and roof, no sides), which was completely filled with water. Got to organize a bucket brigade to empty out the big puddle of water. (I of course was the one to stand on a table in order to reach the big puddle).

It's good he's having sum fun with dum dum.
Sum of us just don't know when to stop. ;)

Well, that certainly sounds
like an experience!

Thanks for sharing!

Impressive!

It's been a lot of sleepless nights but it will be worth it. Going to try and graduate with distinction.

But of course. :)

Fantastic, if I cannot go I will live vicariously through you!

Then you probably already
know you don't really need to.

This is true, there are amazing sights in the city but that is just meh.

Then ditch 'em.
What do they know???

This is true, but the girlfriend will need a distraction. Maybe the zoo we have seen 37 times.

Whoa! Again... good for you!

Fantastic, if I cannot go I will live vicariously through you!

I'd prefer a sight with
the Needle in it.

After spending the previous day
sashaying about a Japanese garden,
I thought it appropriate to at least
stay in the same hemisphere
and grab some dim sum.

I'm glad you said hemisphere cause I was going to point out that Dim Sum and Japanese Gardens come from totally separate nationalities.

I did a bit of research on the
best place to get some.
Dim sum.
Wanted some...
Dim sum

Can you do some research for me? I've been trying to find a good place in So Cal and have no idea.

Soon after I was sat, I started
ordering items.
I ordered some spring rolls
and some pot stickers.
And, I know they're overly filling
and therefore maybe not the best
use of your dim sum dollars,
but I like noodles... so I ordered
sum of those too.

So it wasn't a place where they bring the little cars by and you pick from the carts? OK never mind. I'll have to wait until we go to SF. I have a recommendation there.

But I understand ordering noodles. I like noodles.

The server also put a plate of
beans on my table.
I assumed it was for show.

I hope you didn't have to pay for them! While they may have been good, if you didn't order them you shouldn't have had to pay for them.

No longer sashaying,
but rather ponderously
waddling, I sailed out
and on to my next destination.
I was sumwhat full.

As one should be after Dim Sum.

Forbes magazine called it one of the world's
ten ugliest buildings.
It's been referred to as a "blob"
or even "The Hemorrhoids".

:lmao:

What was I paying to see?
Seattle is home to the
Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit.

I've wanted to see that, but not sure I'm going to get back to Seattle.

If you know any glass makers
(I don't, really), this is the one
that you might have heard of...
or at least seen his work.

Also if you traveled on the Wonder before 2014, his sculpture was in the lobby.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yup he was looking up at the ceiling that was reminiscent of the Bellagio.

You're having way too much
fun with this!

Good!
It's sumthing I can do without being at a real computer. While I get to da world more often than sum, it leaves less time on a real computer. Trade offs.
