I am curious to hear what it is about the Contemporary that you love!????
why do you stay there, and why do keep wanting to return to stay there again!????

Thanks, just want to know the reasons of appeal!!!
(other than the tower view of MK.....)

thanks!

Laura :)

The Contemporary is such a high energy resort. I feel like I am in the center of the magic when I stay there. I love that the monorail goes right through the hotel. I think the CR also has some of the nicest shops of any WDW resort and some really good restaurants. My kids love the arcade. And finally, the rooms are extremely spacious and the views from the tower are spectacular.

There are just so many things about the place, Laura! First of all, it's "Walt's original" - it's a WDW icon. The views are amazing, the rooms are huge, and you are in the middle of everything. It's an experience to say the least. Everyone should try it atleast once. AND, I would love to return!

So far I have nothing except and off Disney campground to compare it with and believe me, it's MUCH better then that!!!

The kids always chose it because it had the biggest gameroom of all the resorts and that did work out really nice during "relaxing" time. I don't know exactly how other resorts are, but everything is REALLY convenient. You could get a snack, go to the pool, hop on the monorail, be at your car in the parking lot, take a break walking around a variety of really nice stores, all within 1 to 3 minutes. The Concourse Grill was usually not real busy and nice for a good dinner if you didn't get a chance to eat before getting back to the resort. We were even able to walk into Chef Mickey's last time when we got back later. We always stayed on the lagoon side and that's one thing I'm worried about the Boardwalk, I loved the view. It was so relaxing just sitting on the balcony after a busy day watching the Electrical Water Pageant. And looking out over the water. And probably the most important thing that makes the Contemporary special for us is after 3 stays there we have a wonderful collection of the most special memories. It will always be the resort where we "raised" our family and will always be special to us. Also spent one of the times with Nana and Pop-pop and we have great memories of those times with them. Contrary to popular opinion, I think the theming is really cute and fun, and not at all as "abstract and modern" as most people seem to say. Just fun and cute for the kids. Well, as you can tell I'm pretty "sentimental", but then probably most Disney Nuts are. Now it's just hubby and me next time and I'm hoping that our memories of other resorts will be special also, but I have a feeling that the Contemporary will always be "the specialist" to all of us!!!

My first stay there was the year they renovated it, so we were able to get a really great deal (which just added to the magic). The restaurant (CG) on top was only just opened for trials. Offered to be a guinea pig but they said they had enough!

Outside of what everyone else has said...being in the middle of it all...the shops...the restuarants...the large rooms...the most magic thing I remember is laying in bed at night with the lights out and watching the castle turn color. Pink, purple, blue....until then I never really knew or noticed that it did that.

Can't help but love it when you get a room where fireworks go off every night, a water flotilla twinkles by and you only have to open your door to hear the whoosh of the monorail.

Depending on rates, it's usually the CR or Dolphin for us. Just want to be as close to it all as we can!

How we love the CR . EVERY single trip for the last 6+ years were at the CR Tower. The blacony is like an extra room for us. Early morning with a cup of coffee and late at night with a drink is one of the highlights of our trip. The EWP, the fireworks, the view of the marina and the pool. THe family plan using the pontoons and water mice. The action in the lobby, the great, great shops, the wonderful restaurants, the charecter voices in the elevator telling you what floor your stopping at, the large clean rooms. The great cm's, the friendly guests, the monorail, the walking path to the MK and just knowing your in the CR at WDW for either a few days or a few weeks, make my pathetic life at home more bearable. (Although this july, will be the first time changing resorts, we're trying the GR rpc, despite the negative reports, we'll always LOVE the CR. BUT, I think no matter where we stay at WDW a terrific time awaits us.

Absolutely!

We love the CR! WDW best kept secret! Shhh.... I would love to keep it that way! Cause last year we could not get our dates for a ressie!

The tower is the best, but nothing is wrong with the garden, they have there own special magic too. Its a little quietier, a little more removed from the "action" of the main building but closer to the pools and marina!

The tower views speak for themselves and the large balconies are fabulous. Either side of the tower is special and has great views.

Cr always reminds us of a big city, its busy, lots of people, shops, trains, resturants..... always on the go. The sense of history, and your tram rides thru has a child come back everytime we enter! The CR just feels like a nother land in the magic kingdom to us!

MKY :D :)

I've only been to WDW once, and that one time was in the tower, 12th floor, lake side. I was disappointed at first but after a few days I'll ask for that side again! The view was so peaceful. The EWP came by each night to serenade us! I'm in my late 40's but I was like a kid watching the monorail pass through the building!

My preference is the wings (as long as the room is close to the tower), 1st floor. That I feel is the best of everything - pool close by, monorail close, the huge comfortable rooms, a day bed that is more of a twin bed than a day bed, the "contemporary" themed shops, the monorail, the monorail, the monorail.

"Por favor (whatever else is the rest they say)".

I love the Contemporary for many reasons. The view from the tower is unbeatable and the monorail runs right thru it. We have been on the MK side every time we have stayed there so we were able to watch the fireworks and the Polynesian and GF's viewing of the EWP. The rooms are large and bright, I enjoy the shops at the CR as well as the restaurants (Love the breakfast at Concourse Steakhouse). I also like the pool. There are 2 pools and a playground. The slide and water fountains make the main pool fun.

You can walk to the MK and I think being able to walk back from the MK to the CR is priceless after parades and fireworks because you beat the crowds at the monorail station. We haven't stayed in the garden wings but we have stayed in the tower 4 times, twice on the 12th floor. We never heard noise from the concourse while in our rooms. We never heard noise from Chef Mickey's or the monorail but it is fun to come out of your room, look over the balcony and see a monorail go by or hear the singing from Chef Mickey's. We also like to eat dinner at Trail's End in Ft. Wilderness to the boat from CR to Ft. Wilderness is very convenient for us. The arcade is huge and the Food and Fun Center is okay.

I've just gotten used to the idea of stayin "somewhere else" and now this thread is making me homesick!!! If this keeps up, I'll be changing my ressies again, just to go back "home" where I know I'm happiest!!! And I'd forgotten about the characters talking on the elevators. So cute too, the little details of Disney that make it magic!!!

Dh and I have talked about staying at the CR several times. Since we both grew up in FL, we have been "through" it on the monorail many times and I do remember eating there as a child.

That being said, right now we can't afford it. We don't want to stay there unless it is in the tower with a good view. We have no interest in staying in the wings. There are just too many other resorts that have better theming (in our opinion). When I finish grad school in a couple of years, it will definitely be on our "to do" list!

The action is non-stop and the views are fantastic from the tower. Seeing the monorail race through the hotel while eating at Chef Mickey's is magical.

Enjoy! I'm jealous until I can get back there.

First, I would only stay in the Tower. I have had nothing but happy memories of longing to stay there as a child, a very beautiful prom memory from the 70"s and the two times I have stayed there were wonderful

I love the high energy of the place, the hustle and bustle of listening from the hall way the clang od dishses and the conversation from the 4th floor concourse. I love the rumble of incoming and out going monorails. Having only had waterviews, I also love seeing the Electric Light Parade from the balcony. Plus being LDS, I had a spectacular view of the spire of the Mormon temple.

My children still talk about the resort as their favorite place to stay.

I hope to stay there again one day.

My DS has been yearning to stay at this resort ever since the first time we rode through it on the monorail (1996). He was just fascinated! Haven't been able to do it yet but still hoping. You all make it sound so great.

We have a Chef Mickey's PS there in two weeks. I'm really going to look over this resort when we go. For whoever might be staying there now or soon - Have a Magical Time!

We just stayed in a tower room a few weeks ago - and I agree with what everyone else has said! The tower rooms on the MK side have an absolutely spectacular view of the park - we spent many hours each evening and morning just looking at it. A wonderful feeling.

Another big benefit for us was what I consider the "lack of walking". One of the reasons we chose the tower room and the Contemporary was it's convenience when we got tired in the MK. We have a 4 year old daughter and spent a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom. When the afternoon came around, we started hitting "meltdown" time - and not just our daughter! The walking can get tiring. All we had to do was get on the monorail and the Contemporary is the first stop! You go down an escalator and up an elevator and you're there - before the monorail even gets to the Polynesian! That convenience alone made it worth it and kept our family happy - which is what it's all about!

I loved the feel of the hotel and videotaped a lot of it. The inside is magical at night. The shops are wonderful, as is Chef Mickeys. We'd get our breakfast every monring from the Food and Fun Center and eat in our room looking at the castle. Inexpensive and quick!

No question, when we head back to Disney, we will be staying in a Tower room at the Contemporary.

We stayed at the CR in a tower room in March and loved it! We were on the 7th floor with a view of the castle that was awesome! I also enjoyed watching the twinkling trees that were just below my balcony at night along with the castle changing colors! The resort was very clean and nice. Our room was very clean and in great shape! We heard very little noice from halls or other rooms! My ds6 loved watching the monorail and the character voices in the elevators. The snack bar area was nice, we ate lunch there twice! We got refillable mugs, my ds loved being able to get an icee in his. And, the convienence of being able to take the walking path right into the MK was also great! Along with having Chef Mickeys right there, it was a great resort for families!!! We loved it and will definenately go back! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
