DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Finally got DW home, she is exhausted but we are out of the woods on her heath scare. Following up the next couple weeks with specialists to try and find a cause, but we know its not her heart, lungs, or brain causing it.
Glad she's home, and hope the doctors can figure it out. Also glad they've ruled out most of the big issues.

I just received this from Ron’s wife Rachel, “It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you Ron passed away yesterday after none. He fought so hard. I wanted to let you know before we post his arrangements. He always talked about how much he enjoyed the DisDad’s club and we enjoyed meeting up with all of you when we could. He was loved and he will be missed.” Ron was Disney Commando.
So sorry to hear this. I didn't interact with him a ton, but he seemed like a nice guy and a good man.

This is sad news. I will be praying for their family.

Spend the weekend at my DW's school taking pictures and videos of the spring musical Once Upon a Mattress.
Sounds like a great time was had by all. hope you got some good shots.
And very cool that your young'en is still treading the boards.

That particular play is actually one I've got a bit of soft spot for.
Way back in the day (and I mean, waaaay back), my school performed it as their musical for the year. I was one of the folks from the band that got recruited to play in the pit orchestra. That was quite the experience. And I'll also tell you that we were using copies of the original book. Fine for piano and string players (which we had none of), but right nasty keys for young musicians trying to hold down the parts for the wind instruments (reading in C#, Db and Gb for instance can be - shall we say - just a might entertaining).

Home is good.
Not having one of the major known issues to deal with a bit better.
Not knowing exactly what's causing the problems... not so much.
May she rebound quickly and may y'all find out what's really happening very soon.

I couldn't even imagine seeing my DW go through any of that.

One of the old time veterans from around these parts and a fine dad.
I knew he was having a number of right serious health issues over the last couple years, but even an end to that suffering, doesn't really ease the loss felt by those left behind.

Geez, sorry I haven’t been around. The first post came up as your wife being in the hospital. I’m glad she’s home and hope they find what the cause of the problem is.

Well, I just found out we lost Ron. I’m going to miss Ron. We had a lot of conversation over the many years. From his never stop commando Disney style to his transportation card collection to his Christmas cards every year. Three years ago when we moved here, I use to go for walks a lot. At the time there were still alot of Covid restrictions in place. I would walk springs and the loop around the MK. One day I was walking the loop at Crescent Lake, I walk up behind a family walking and it was Ron!! We talked for the longest while, what a fighter.
Last spring, I got a message from him that they were coming to Disney World! We set up a day and we met in the MK. He filled me in with his health issues and what was going on. He was in a scooter at that time. All I can say is what a fighter! What a will to live. I spent the better part of the day with Ron and his family. I have some pictures we took together, I’ll have look for them. If you spent any time with Ron, you know Disney wasn’t his only passion. Muscle cars was another. He invited me to NJ to show me his car collection and said I could drive any one of them. I didn’t want to intrude on their vacation, Rachel said, oh no, please stay, it gives Ron someone to take to.
I’m going to miss you my friend. Rest in peace.

So sorry to hear that. Prayers to his family.

Make us appreciate our days more and more. I gotta get down there for a convention and meet you guys in person.

Geez, I was trying to figure out when the first time I met him. I know it was around Christmas. I met him in Epcot, there is a picture of him and I in front of the Christmas tree in Epcot. I remember it was cold, I had a hoodie and a wind breaker and jeans on, he was in a t shirt and I think shorts. lol. I forgot the guy worked in a freezer. lol. For some reason that trip there were quite a few dads there. I know it was the same trip I met Tim B. and his son wasn’t born yet and his daughter was at the most three. His daughter is graduating hs this year so it was a good 15 years ago. Man time flies.

Happy Friday Dads. Hope everybody is having a good week, and some of you are looking forward to a good weekend.
Youngest DD has her prom on Saturday so going to be a busy day of hair and makeup around my house.

Morning, Fellas! Hope all are well. I heard about Ron, and while I never met the guy, I am saddened by his loss. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

On my end of things, I can announce that I was cast in a local production of Death of a Salesman. I'll be playing Howard, who's the boss of the main character, Willie. Outside that all is well. My DW and DD are coming up near the end of the school year, around 5 weeks? Either way I believe they're both excited about it.

Being in the pit is fun. While I don't play an instrument, I was asked to be in the pit for Hello Dolly last summer as a pit singer. I was hired and got paid the same as the other members of the pit. Man, that was so much fun, I didn't want it to end. Makes me want to pull out my old trombone and re-learn how to play it again just so I can do pit work. I'm impressed that you were using original books. Those are some nasty key signatures, that's for sure. As for the piece in C-Sharp, it would have been easier to play it in D-flat, don't you think?
