Magic has left Castaway
That video made me teary. What a nice group of people.
Magic has left Castaway
No, The Magic does not pass Castaway Cay when going to Europe. The transatlantic routes do not go to The Bahamas first. Their go straight out to sea from either Port Canaveral or Miami. They need to fill up on fuel and supplies before a 10 plus day sailing, so going down to The Bahamas first before going out to sea to cross the Atlantic does not make sense.
This was the route for the 2017 Transatlantic from Port Canaveral to Dover England.

This is the route map for the 2019 transatlantic from Miami to Barcelona.

I know they didn't stop, I was on that cruise but the route sailed isn't a straight line like drawn here, we got pretty close to Castaway Cay. I say, that if supplies are needed on castaway Cay, the Magic might be the one for who it is the smallest d-tour, so it's better to have the Magic do it, then to have the Dream go there and then back to Port Canaveral again (which they still might do for a later supply drop).
Made me cry!
Magic has left Castaway
Yes, we stopped there in 2011 too.Our very first EBTA cruise we did stopped at Castaway.
Made me cry!
I didn't say they never stopped there, because I know they used to. I said I was on the itinerary posted, the 2019 EBTAOur very first EBTA cruise we did stopped at Castaway.
Jesus That got me crying. That guy loves his people.

If the dry dock happens as planned, what updates or refurbishments will be made?
The reports from the CM's say that The Magic will be docked at Dover until the ports reopen
Being realistic, I can't see European ports reopening in the next couple of months. We were booked on the EBTA and also the 7 night Northern Europe cruise in August - which we've cancelled. Also Ireland isn't due to start the final phase of exiting lock-down until 10th August (assuming no set backs) and based on the DFA advice, and also Simon Coveney (our Minister for Foreign Affairs) saying that holiday travel outside the state is unlikely until at least the end of the year, I don't think anyone from Ireland will traveling any time soon.
General COVID-19 Travel Advisory in Operation:
Avoid non-essential travel until further notice:
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade advises against all non-essential travel overseas until further notice. This includes Great Britain but does not apply to Northern Ireland. It also includes all travel by cruise ship.
We actually have a cruise planned on the Magic in August/September, so we're in the same boat so to say. I'm just not as optimistic as you are about it going ahead. But I'll let you enjoy your spark of positivity and enjoy your cruise planningso yeah, ok I was wrong about Castaway Cay and the route to Europe. Can we move on please. I get that for many of you its just anther thread to read, but for some of we have European cruise booked for August and September.
I may turn out to be wrong about the cruises restarting, but for now can we just focus on the fact that The Magic is repositioning to Europe. That little bit of actual factual information after weeks of speculation gives some of us just a tiny spark of positivity and something to look forward to
However, its a long time between now and August and my cruise is in September. So until I get an official confirmation from Disney that my cruise is cancelled, it is helping my mental health to continue with my cruise planning.
So I'm on your train! Faith Hope and Pixie Dust is getting me through here. Two weeks ago people were saying the Magic wont come to Europe at all and now she's half way here so I'm taking that as a win. I have the WBTA booked in October and paid in full is coming up. I'm paying and hoping that things will be brighter then. It is the thing keeping me going and it is the certainty I'm holding on to. After almost 2 years of being booked on this cruise I'm not giving up yet. It will be a wonderful day when she arrives in Dover as that's on hurdle done.
The dry dock always made it likely she was going to come over, they'd rather not miss a planned dry dock. We'll see what happensexactly everyone was sooo sure The Magic would not be in Europe , and were even planning what routes and ports The Magic would do in America / Caribbean / Bahamas
The ship is repositioning, lets just take each step at a time.
