Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

I’ve waited anywhere between a 15/20 min standby to a 3 hour virtual queue

Yeah, my issue is that my Disney Springs time is limited a little. I will go on my arrival day, but I won't be there until about 1 or 1:30 PM. I then have a dinner at AKL so have to leave for that by 7 PM. On th eday I am leaving I plan to hit Typhoon Lagoon, then go to DS, so again, probably 1 to 2 PM depending on how long I play. Thne I have to hit hte airport. I'd like to bring cookies home, but I don't know how to keep them if I buy them day one.

How can i best store my goodies?

Our products are scratch-made and free from nasty preservatives. They are designed to be enjoyed as close as possible to the day of purchase. However, if you must store beyond the purchase date here are some tips!

  • Cookies: For short term storage (up to three days), we recommend an airtight container. For long term storage, we recommend the freezer. When ready to eat, just let them sit at room temperature for 2 hours on average and serve! Do not forcibly reheat them in an oven or microwave. We will know, and we might lecture you during your next visit!
  • Bites: Cookie Bites are fully encased in chocolate, which keeps them nicely preserved without much assistance needed. For more long term storage, just keep them in an airtight container and eat those lovely little creatures!
  • Cakes: Please keep cakes with Cream Cheese Frosting, like Red Velvet, refrigerated until serving. Buttercream cakes are best left cold until about one hours before serving. Our cakes are extraordinarily delicate and easier to cut when still a bit firm from refrigeration. With all of our cakes, we don’t use any preservatives. The buttercream on all cakes will start to break down at full room temp so handle accordingly.
  • Oh yea, be sure to keep our Cookies, Bites, and Cakes out of the Florida heat! Exposing them to varying temperatures will cause them to “bloom”. This is when chocolate starts to marble. This doesn’t effect the flavor but doesn’t look as lovely.

Does the hotel you're staying in have a fridge, specifically one with a freezer? The cookies freeze really well and can last a few days.

Disney and Make-A-Wish Celebrate 150,000 Wishes Granted Together

This weekend, Disney Parks around the world celebrated the transformative power of a wish on World Wish Day. It was a particularly memorable celebration for us here at Walt Disney World as we teamed up with our friends at Make-A-Wish America to help grant the 150,000th Disney-inspired wish to 16-year-old Mikayla from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida who began her battle fighting cancer three years ago. Check out how the magic happened on Good Morning America!

“This is an incredible milestone moment in our more than 40-year relationship with Disney,” said Leslie Motter, Make-A-Wish America President and CEO. “We know that wishes have the transformative power to renew hope, uplift spirits and unite families. When you pair that with Disney stories, characters and experiences, lives are forever changed thanks to the unmatched joy that’s delivered when it’s needed most.”

Mikayla and her family were first surprised with being Grand Marshals during the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom Park; but they didn’t just roll down Main Street, U.S.A. in the usual vehicle – they were treated to their very own coach.

Guests enjoying the parade may have also noticed a shiny new license plate affixed to the coach. With the limited-edition, 50th Anniversary celebration specialty plate design going away soon, we couldn’t think of a better way to reveal the fresh new design featuring Cinderella Castle.

More than $1.5 million has been raised for our local Make-A-Wish chapter through purchases of our specialty plate, and just like before, proceeds will continue to go directly to Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. Be sure to stay tuned for more information on when the new plate will go on sale, which we’ll share an update on a bit later.

After enjoying the parade and seeing some of our most iconic Disney princesses and heroines, we shared an extra surprise with Mikayla – something unique to her that we would only offer on a very special occasion like this one. To mark this historic milestone, Mikayla and her family were given the exclusive opportunity to enjoy an overnight stay in the famous Cinderella Castle Suite! As many Disney fans know, a stay in the suite is not typical, even for Make-A-Wish families, but we just had to make sure our 150,000th wish was, well … pretty suite.

“We are so thrilled that Mikayla is able to have this opportunity to celebrate the journey that she’s been on,” said Mikayla’s mom. “You never anticipate they [your children] are going to experience a life-threatening situation, but it’s been amazing to see how much good can come from something bad. We get to create these wonderful new memories together and not focus on the ones that maybe weren’t so pretty.”

With a milestone like this, we just had to throw in an extra dose of pixie dust! We learned that Mikayla, who is an aspiring singer, dreams of one day performing at Disney, so we’re planning a royal performance later this summer that will top off this 150,000th wish in an unforgettable way. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure to capture the magic and bring you all along for the ride!

Former Walt Disney Imagineering President Bob Weis receives a window at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Bob Weis, who recently retired as president of Walt Disney Imagineering, has received a window at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

The window reads, "Flower Street Pictures, Bob Weis, Studio Head - Our Productions Entertain the World."

The new window is located above Hollywood Vine and was unveiled to Bob and Disney leaders earlier today.
Love the credit line. Flower Street is the street that Imagineering offices in Burbank CA are located.

No, I know they hold up well and I could fridge them if I get them day one, but then they have to survive a locker or bag storage at the hotel on my last day. Flight isn't until evening.
For what's it's worth, I've put a Gideon's bag of cookies into the trunk of my car in the hotel parking lot and left them there for a full day. The cookies survived without melting. I did bring an ice block from home but it didn't seem to help much.

i just brought back about 20 cookies LOL yes we have a bit of a problem.... We went to both the Disney Springs location as well as checked out their location in the East End Market of Orlando.
we had a car and a cooler and were driving, but we before leaving, we wrapped each up in a ziploc (in the paper they come in) and then froze all of the cookies the night before the drive home. Now at home, I have them still frozen and labeled and just bring out a couple at a time and they are sooooo freakin good. So if you have access, they freeze and thaw well... so far all of the varieties have been fine
