We stayed in a preferred room last New Year's, and walked around the resort quite a bit, and my husband went running every morning. I have to say, if you were in one of the furthest pirate rooms I think they would be further than I would like to be during a stay. We are a family that doesn’t mind walking, for example we regularly walk from DHS to Epcot or through Epcot to get to the monorail to the MK, and love POR. However, those rooms would be a hoof for going to the main building for anything. If you got one of the first pirates rooms after the bridge it wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s luck of the draw.I am considering a stay in a pirate room since it is the only one available for our dates
Are they as bad as some people say? How is the bus transportation from these buildings? And how far away are they from the skyliner stop?
I am currently booked in a Boardwalk Villas studio but the 400$ I would save could be used towards something extra...
Any thoughts and recent input would be greatly appreciated!
i can’t remember details, but my DH measured the distance from the furthest pirate area where he turned around on his run to Old Port Royals, and it surprised me! I want to say it was around a mile, so at a slow pace with kids, strollers, etc that is a decent distance to go for a question, snack, etc. Sure you could go to the small restaurant that is in that section for food and refills, and that is great that it’s there, but personally I like going to OPR to shop/look around/etc and would not choose a pirate room unless there were extenuating reasons. It’s not like I think they are terrible, I just wouldn’t choose them if given the choice.
also, FWIW, the theme of the rooms just doesn’t appeal to me even as a mom of boys, so that’s another reason I wouldn’t choose them.
