Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

You ‘should’ be able to.

These sort of things might / might not happen on any given day, but I had a bunch of MB trouble in April when we spent a night at AoA then moved the AKL the next morning. The greeter took my family up to the lounge (AK actually had a CL greeter) and I parked the car. When I went to the elevator to go up to meet them - red scan. Had to go to the regular check-in desk, wait, and explain I needed to be let up. Had several other issues that day with room and charging access. No idea if related to the move from AoA. Likely just coincidence. But who knows.

I also had similar issues a few weeks ago when we moved from Poly to YC which required about 20 mins of help from the front desk and a personal escort to our rooms to test and re-test bands.

Anyways - I’ve gone from never having MB issues (and honestly, thinking the people who report so many MB problems on the boards were kind of nuts), to having some borderline annoying ones the last two trips.

As always, YMMV!
I understand. My split stays are notorious for MB's not working.

Even check in at poly this summer 1st resort my bands would not work . They had to be fixed. Many others guests were having the same issue. Very frustrating to waste disney time when they could get good IT people.

Regarding RPC, can you just to up to the lounge upon arrival if you have already done online check in? We will be staying at Pop the night before. Planning to check out Pop around 7am to go to RPC for some pastries/coffee before leaving for the park. Aiming to leave GF no later than 9:45am and to arrive AK by 10:30am... Hope it will work as planned..
When we arrived, there was a CL greeter at a podium at the front entrance of the main building. We had already done online check-in, but she still walked us to the elevator and rode up with us to the 4th floor. She had a scanner with her to check to make sure our MagicBands were working to access the RPC floors and she also tested both of our bands in the elevator. I have no idea if they would have worked on their own or not (probably), but since she was right there when we got out of the car, it wasn't an inconvenience to have her walk with us anyway.

Just a quick post to let everyone know the my Disney experience now has an option to unlock your room with your phone. I don’t know if this went live at all the resorts but we got to start using the option yesterday at the Boardwalk club level at least. Pretty cool.

Just out of curiosity, why is this considered better or easier than simply holding up your wrist with a magic band on it to the door? I think finding my phone in my backpack, unlocking it with a face scan or code, opening the MDE app (that may or may not be working at that moment), getting to the correct screen, and opening your door sounds a lot more of a PITA than a help, while a MB is easy (except when holding multiple plates of food from the lounge for your family :D! But then the phone wouldn't work either). Admittedly, I haven't tried this because it wasn't offered at any of the resorts we stayed at in June, but when I read about the trial at the WL (I think it was) I wondered then why anyone would use this over a MB. I guess if you choose to use a card and not a MB? But surely that can't be many people. Am I maybe missing something? Is there an obvious benefit I am not realizing?

I don't mean to pick on you, sfbank, you just happened to comment and it's something I've been wondering about.

No I was not saying it was better, just a neat option as it makes sounds when it opens the door. I was letting people know the availability is coming out. We stay here every year so the CMs know me handed me a card and asked me to try it last night. They even watched to see if and how it worked. Just something new that people might want to know about. May work for some and not for others.

Do you think it's possible to ask for it in advance by e-mail or something? Would love to surprise my FIL and MIL with it. :)
No, it won't help. The folks you see in the lounge won't be the ones you email so the CM in the lounge won't have the info. You'll have to ask

There's a reason for this, at least at AKL. Not sure about at all CL but I know at AKL they have their set to only access the CL level after you have opened the door to your room first. At least that's what they have told us. I assume this is because the lounge and the rooms are on different floors and the rooms are not all CL on the floor. To keep anyone from accessing the lounge level, the one way to know your band belongs is to have it open your CL room door. One trip we didn't have a room yet so they gave us Key to the World cards to use to get back up the lounge until we could get to our room and access it. They told us to make sure everyone in the room opened the door so they would then be able to access the elevator floor.

Oh, as to other MB issues, the CM at BWI CL made mention as to a hint to help those of us with a lot of bands, instead of just deactivating them, mark the bands you no longer use as lost. He claimed this will remove them from the system in a way that deactivating will not. No idea if this is accurate or not but I did go in and do that with any remaining bands we no longer have. I figured it can't hurt. I've already had to have 1 new account made. I'm not anxious to have to have another anytime soon.

Some resorts have had this. Boardwalk, YC and BC added it yesterday

Is the greeter there most of the time?? Hopefully there will be one to assist us upon arrival. Thank you for the information!!

I really truly didn't mean to make you defensive, maybe I shouldn't have quoted your post!!! It's just something I've been wondering and this seemed a good time to ask, that's all, I promise . And you did answer it, anyway- if it makes fun sounds when you open the door then that's at least an interesting thing to try occasionally, particularly for kids. It doesn't seem like something particularly useful or necessary for most people, but as you said just another neat option to try that certainly isn't a detriment or anything.

Ninafeliz-no I took no offense. I was just saying I did not say that I didn’t think one way or the other. It is neat like you said kids might think so but yes it is easier to use the magic band because I do not have my phone out all the time. No worries.

So, I'm considering my Poly GV CL room request. I'm leaning towards Floor 1 because easy pool access. But, sometimes a fam member or two naps in the afternoon and if the room are noisy from the pool I don't want them fighting that. My father wants easy club access but that would mean Floor 2 (right? the club is on Floor 2 with a mini seating area on floor 3 that has a staircase down into the rest of the club?) with no balconies. I'm trying to get the layout in my head to make the best request for us (and then watch us get exactly what we decided we didn't want! hey, it's wdw so it'll still be great though!)
You have the floor
Layout right. Second is closer to the main lounge floor. We just did GV but on third. Loved that view!

Mine never works either and I deleted most of my old ones. So annoying but usually someone’s works!

Well, they did not say it out loud the 2 first times we stayed in CL rooms. Lol

They actually made it a point to tell us at both CR and BC this month. They said "if you'd like a beer or glass of wine when it's not out, just ask and we will happily get it for you." The CR actually had self pour Fairy Tale Cuvee out all day in an ice bucket along with 2 wines. They also had a beer fridge that was self serve and they put the beers out at 11am.
