Welcome, everyone, to Charleston Princess's second annual June trip report!!! I can't wait to share the details of this trip with all of you!
You know how oftentimes people in the "real world" say, "You're going to Walt Disney World again?" Well, I suddenly realized tonight as I was sitting down to start this trip report that every single trip we have taken to WDW is completely different and has a unique feel to it. For the past three years, we have gone to Disney World the same week in June, but each trip has been so full of new experiences that it doesn't even begin to feel like the same old thing.
This trip was interesting to say the least. We had a lot of fun, but there was a lot of drama -- which should make for a gripping narrative if nothing else.
For past planning and trip report madness, here are links:
June 2009 PTR: Got Pixie Dust?
June 2008 PTR/TR: The Pursuit of Disney Magic: June 7-14, 2008
WHO ARE WE?
Me -- I am 34 (quickly approaching 35). I teach middle school language arts in a little town north of Atlanta. I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and my parents started taking me to WDW when I was just nine months old. I must say that sometimes when we drive under that WDW sign, it feels like I am returning home.
Charles -- My husband who is 39. You won't see much of him this trip. None of us did. Here's a picture from June, 2008. He hasn't changed.
Chelsea -- My eleven-year-old daughter. She will be in the 7th grade this next school year and seems to change almost daily. In the past year, she has left behind so many of her childhood interests and embraced new ones -- Twilight and text messaging to name a couple of them. Being back at WDW, though, seems to bring out the child in her again, and she still wants to wear Mickey ears and buy Minnie plushes.
Connor -- My nine-year-old son. He will be in the fourth grade this year, and I often find myself having conversations with him that include references to ninja jijitsu, video games, and the inevitable, unanswerable questions like, "What would happen if monkeys tried to take over the world?"
WHEN DID WE GO?
Saturday, June 6, 2009 to Saturday, June 13, 2009
WHERE DID WE STAY?
My heart's desire of Walt Disney World resorts!
Our very own African paradise!
ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE!
I hope everyone enjoys the ride!
