Dixie Stampede Closes

Hoping you guys can report on what has happened over at Dixie Stampede. We have a relative that works there, or did before they suddenly closed their doors yesterday. They announced that they were selling the property to an (undisclosed) purchaser. It really sucks that they did this to their employees without warning. (Property sales take some time, management had to know) Now all of these people have to find jobs without being given any notice. Severance of 2 months was offered to them. I don't know what will happen to people who purchased tickets in advance.

that's life in the big city, what is a Dixie Stampede?

It's Dolly Parton's country version of the Medieval Times - I checked the website and the FL location is gone - no mention it was ever there. Since they do pre-sell tickets, I wonder what they were doing for customers who pre-purchashed tickets for shows that aren't going to happen???

I can't confirm this, but I bet there weren't selling tickets into '08 very far yet. I know they were dark in the middle of Jan. in the past, we tried to go there last jan and it was dark for a couple weeks. Just a thought.

And here's the argument for buying tickets using a major credit card. Sometimes it's the only way to get your money back when a business goes belly-up like that.

I'm sure they would issue refunds, they still have other locations so its not like the entire company went under.

Also, another comment, another thread reported the did indeed offer the employees a severance package. Just FYI, don't know if thats true or not, but found it interesting how both sides have been reported so far.

The story is pretty good, explains the fact that it was an "offer we couldn't refuse" maybe someone woke up with a horse head in the bed :rotfl2: and they are looking for another location.

I just spoke to him, he did receive his letter last night (after we talked) they are giving their employees 2 months base pay. Better than nothing.:)
