How's everyone holding up? I started April on nap training this week! She so far has taken pretty much all of her naps on top of me or my husband, and as we quickly approach the four month sleep regression (she turned 3 months on Saturday; she's so much huger than in these trip photos already!), I want her to have a good foundation for sleep if I can. So far it's going okay! We get about two naps in the crib, the rest so far are on me, but I'll increase the number of crib naps as she gets used to sleeping in there. She cries for about 5-15 minutes, then passes out for 30-45 minutes, or thereabouts. It's hurting my heart to not be able to take her to Disney or well, anywhere, but we're getting through it as well as I could have hoped for.
Day 3 Part 2: New friends. Big ears. Much snoozing.
After lunch, we made our way over to the UK. We checked the times board to see who was meeting next, and discovered it was Alice. Perfect. We wanted April to meet either Alice or Mary Poppins and weren’t too picky, but I thought Alice sounded like more fun, so we got in line.
We waited about 20 minutes for our turn, which wasn’t bad considering we got in line before Alice was even out.
It was a cute interaction. Alice was very sweet. April pretty much slept through the meet lol. There wasn’t a Photopass photographer so my dad took the pictures.
Next up was the meet I was most looking forward to: Snow White!
Snow White is my favorite princess, at least of the ones you can meet. I’d prepared a cute Snow White outfit for April, which you can kind of see in the Alice photos, but I got some better ones while we were waiting for Snow.
The headband was a bit too large for her. Hopefully it’s not too small when we are able to go back to the parks. The onesie, however, is definitely too small now. It was almost too small on that day.
I’d say from the time we got in line until the time we met Snow was about 25-30 minutes. Not bad.
It was a very nice meet! Snow of course compared April to Sleepy, maybe Grumpy once she started to rouse. We got some great Photopass pictures and my dad took some as well!
After that it was time for a change, mostly because she’d had a blowout poop. Oops! But I changed her into an outfit that was more appropriate for our next meet.
Dad wasn’t interested in standing in line for the next one, and there would definitely be Photopass there, so he elected to go get some Starbucks for us while Rebekah and I waited to see Anna and Elsa.
The line was about half an hour long. It looked packed but moved relatively quickly.
One thing I want to mention here is that up until this point in the trip, Rebekah had not held April once. She was nervous to. So if you’ve ever been in the Anna and Elsa m&g line before, you may know that one of the switchback dividers is actually a table with chairs. Rebekah sat down in one of them and I asked if she would like to take this opportunity to hold April.
I don’t know about you, but this picture just about melts my heart!
When we were about halfway through the line, Dad showed up with the Starbucks drinks. I had expected him to wait outside the line for us, but I guess he decided to join us. It was nice to have my caffeine boost!
Soon enough, we were led into a room to meet the sisters themselves. I hadn’t expected them to be meeting in their Frozen II garb. I hadn’t been a huge fan of the second movie so I was a tad disappointed. I’d been looking forward to seeing them in their iconic clothes.
Still, they were both as lovely as can be, fawning over April for being the littlest snowflake. She seemed most interested in Elsa. The bright colors must have caught her attention. Rebekah got to show off her Olaf hoodie, which you can kind of see in the pictures, though it’s best viewed with the hood up (it looks like his face).
When we left the room, I realized I had left my Starbucks drink in there! I contemplated letting it go, but Dad encouraged me to go back for it since I’d only drank a third. I went to the cast member manning the register at the dump shop, and she had to find another cast member to help me. I wasn’t allowed to go back into the room with Anna and Elsa, but they were able to retrieve it for me. I suppose they want to keep guests out of that area as much as possible to maintain the illusion that there is only one room with Anna and Elsa.
After that was done, Rebekah did some browsing in the shop, and then Dad was eager to get to his favorite pavilion for his favorite treat. He absolutely loves the maple popcorn in Canada. I love it too, but his love for it can only be described as transcendent. He was disappointed in me though, because I’d left our popcorn bucket at home. I suggested he buy a new bucket, and that he be responsible for it from now on, because frankly after three trips with the same bucket, it was becoming too much to remember to bring it every trip. You wouldn’t think it would be an issue, but it was, and since he was the one who always wanted the popcorn, I was happy to put the onus on him.
We also took this opportunity to watch the new movie in Canada. I had been excited at first to learn that the new narrators would be two Canadian comedians: Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy, but disappointed to learn that it wouldn’t be comedic like the previous movie. And I was pretty much as let down as I thought I would be, unfortunately. I think actual Canadians will be happy to hear that it features more of Canada than the previous film did, which is good, but I didn’t find it as entertaining. I guess there’s always that balance to strike. But the previous one with Martin Short was an attraction I never got tired of, and I can’t say I’ll be rushing back to this one.
Anyway, enough Canada bashing.
I had been originally hoping to stay at the park until the fireworks, but it was still a couple of hours until the show and we weren’t sure that any of us was up to that wait. So we decided to head out and catch the fireworks another night. It was the only nighttime show we were interested in, so we could come back any time to see them. Theoretically. More on that later in the report…
Up next: Our Polynesian evening!
