OK - just playing devils advocate for a second here, but what exactly where they expecting the travel insurance company to pay out for?
Did they require hospital treatment? or Did they want the expenses for the body to be recovered and returned home?
or are they looking for a lump sum life insurance type of payment?
I would expect the policy to cover the first two - but it's not designed as a life insurance policy.
As long as the DVT payout is along the same lines as say a person who dies of an unexpected heart attack on holiday, then I think that's fair, and that's what it sounds like in the article.
