The Wine and Dine half-marathon will be my first Run Disney race. Are family members allowed in Epcot(or any of the other parks) to watch the finish of the race without a ticket or do they have to purchase a ticket? If so, how does it work, are the given a wrist band or something and then escorted out after the race ends?

As far as I know they'll have to have a regular park ticket to watch inside of EPCOT if the park is open when you run through it. If the park isn't open to regular guests yet they can't go in. They can watch in the finish area without anything or if we run through the Boardwalk area they can watch there.

Great question and very helpful answer. I had been wondering the same thing but had been waiting for the course to be released. I had read stories about people watching from main street before and was wondering how this all worked.

Magic Kingdom is different. Spectators are allowed to cheer along Main Street before the park opens without needing a ticket.

Since this is the first year with the new course and new start time no one can give a 100% sure answer. In previous years Epcot was a hard ticket event so to be able to cheer from Epcot you had to buy the after party ticket. This year most runners will get to Epcot before opening. When I did the 5K and 10K that ran through Epcot before opening spectators were not allowed in the park. They could be at the international gateway entrance area, paths around Boardwalk, Beach, Yacht, Swan, and Dolphin, or could be a the finish. You couldn't actually be inside the park. I imagine since this race should be done by park opening they won't allow people there to cheer. It is also different then Magic Kingdom is that there is no easy way to get people in and out and only see racers with out them disappearing and skipping out on paying for the day.

Wine & Dine won't be going through Magic Kingdom, but if it was Marathon weekend or Princess than yes you can watch on Main St.

Epcot will be open for some people as they finish as if you start in the last corral at about 6:30 & take 3.5 hours to finish that puts you finishing at 10:00 which is after Epcot opens. So, then your family could watch you if they had a park ticket.

I will indeed be in the last corral as I have no proof of time, but I expect to be closer to 2.5 hours of running, plus however long the stops for the fun things take. I have a half oct 1, hopefully Disney gives that some consideration so I can move up... even though its way past deadline time for POT
