Fantasyland February 2022 Exercise Thread

Lots of color changes today! Congratulations to Twilight Sparkle, BonnieF, Bethislucy, me, and the TEAM for turning WDW Orange!

If you're looking for something to eat, Fantasyland has your back. It has two of the most popular restaurants in all of the Disney Parks: Cinderella's Royal Table, and Be Our Guest. But if you couldn't get an ADR for those sit-down restaurants, it also has the Cheshire Cafe, The Friar's Nook, Gaston's Tavern, Pinocchio Village Haus, Prince Eric's Village Market, and Storybook Treats!

Trivia Questions of the Day:

1. What was Cinderella's Royal Table named when it opened in 1971?

King Stefan's Banquet Hall -- even though Stefan was Sleeping Beauty's father, not Cinderella's. (Apparently Cinderella's father never was named in the movie.)

2. What use did Be Our Guest have for RFID technology?

Guests were given a "Magic Rose" when they ordered lunch and then chose their table. The RFID-enabled "Magic Rose" let servers find them.

Congratulations to PollyannaMom for turning WDW Orange!

Next up is Tokyo DIsneyland. There are several super exciting Fantasyland-related developments going on in Tokyo.

But first, the basics. Tokyo's Fantasyland has several of the same rides as the U.S. Disney parks, including Alice's Tea Party (the teacups), it's a small world, Castle Carrousel, Snow White's Adventures, Dumbo, Peter Pan's Flight, Pinocchio's Daring Journey, and Mickey's PhilHarmagic. Here, however, you'll also find the Haunted Mansion! Tokyo has two unique attractions as well: Cinderella's Fairy Tale Hall (a walk-through on the second floor of the castle) and Pooh's Hunny Hunt, a fun trackless ride.

One of the exciting developments is Tokyo's Fantasyland expansion, which opened in 2020. This expansion, which also involved Tomorrowland and Toontown, was the largest expansion in Tokyo Disneyland's history. As relevant to Fantasyland, it added a whole entire area themed to Beauty & the Beast, including a 30-meter tall castle housing a B&tB trackless ride! The expansion also added the Fantasyland Forest Theatre, where you can see Mickey's Magical Music World.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Smith for being the first team member to reach Tokyo DIsneyland Purple and to Raya for turning WDW Orange!

I knew that Tokyo Disneyland had been working on a Fantasyland expansion. What I didn't realize was that Tokyo DisneySea also is growing, with its own Fantasyland-inspired expansion!

The Fantasy Springs area is set to open in fiscal 2023 (sometime between 4/1/23 through 3/31/24). It will have three sections, inspired by Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. Reportedly it will cost $2.5 billion (more than twice the cost of Galaxy's Edge!), and will include four attractions, three restaurants, a shop, and a new luxury hotel overlooking (and in) the park, which will have two restaurants and a lounge as well.

Here's an article from TDR Explorer giving more detail.

We went to Tokyo Disney Resort in 2019, and we fully intended it to be our only Tokyo Disney trip. But after seeing the New Fantasyland at Tokyo Disneyland and now Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea, I desperately want to go back!
