Well done. That definitely deserves a snack and a drink.Good deed done for the day, we went off in search of more food and drinks!
The description of it on the menu looks really good anyway. I'm glad you were able to overcome and finish it.By Disney standards, usually their mixed drinks really arent terribly strong. Great Googlie Mooglie! This was ridiculously strong! In fact, DH and I towards the middle of the drink, each had to force this drink down our throats I would cheer him on, he would cheer me on Because of great teamwork, we finished the drink. Phew!
Looks fantastic. That is an F&W booth that I could do some serious damage to.Oooh what does she have in her hands? A Taco de Rib-Eye with Salsa de Chipotle and a Dos Equis
Nothing quite like shotgunning a beer right outside a the character spot. :drinking2I told DM that she couldnt bring her beer inside the building and to hurry up and down it. Good job DM!
If you're going to be photobombed...Look who snuck in to our shot! No not DM, Goofy! We didnt even know it until we got home and looked at the pictures. So cool!
I'm glad that he enjoyed it visiting the characters. It is always nice to have a non-crowded, leisurely character interaction.Such an AMAZING experience! The characters were very involved, the photographers took tons of shots and DS was in such a good mood. Loved every second of it!
Yeah for the strong drink!
And the food looks pretty good too.
The pics with the characters are just so cute! I love how Calvin reaches for the noses. So funny.
Love the last three photos! I am sure your DH was just thrilled.
And since you asked .... we plan on going to California for 4 - 6 weeks in August and early September of 2016.
So nice that your DH was able to do a good deed and return the purse! I'm glad she didn't think he stole it or something when she saw him with it.
That is one heck of an amazing character meet!!! Wow, no rush and no distractions and a happy baby! Love all the pictures! So, so cute! He was really smiling a ton and having a great time with all of them. So fun!
At least he shared his saliva with DH and not with the characters, I guess...
What a good deed you two did. I would have been FRANTIC if I missed my purse.
Amazing M&G pictures and how cool to have Goofy photobomb your Mickey picture.
Adorable photos! Goofy photobomb FTW
Yay for a STRONG drink. Got that Singapore Sling on my list
DM has great taste, I love Dos Equis. We get those at the Mexican place in Pacific Wharf/DCA every trip
Great pics!
I may or may not have had a singapore sling. I honestly can't remember. I feel like I did after drinking a bunch of beer earlier in the day. I guess I will have to check my handy, dandy, passport. I do recall feeling a little tipsy by that point. I wonder why?
Did I already tell you that I love your shirt? It is SO super cute!
Beautiful pictures of all three of you in the character meet n greet. Your little man seems to be eating it up!
I do believe that I have never seen zero line for Character Spot. In fact, now that they have FP+ I would assume that is because there is such a demand. That's great!
Ahhh Calvin going for the noses of the characters - so adorable! The one where Goofy photo-bombed, so perfect!
Great job finishing that Singapore Sling! You do look pretty happy in the Character Spot photos.
How fabulous he was able to find the lady!
The character photos are too cute. Bonus there was no one else in line!
That mahi looks delicious
For Cirque tix go to cirque du soleil punto com slash locals. There are discounts galore, for any that say they are specific to Vegas locals, just let me know and I can meet up with you, a local just has to pick the tix up with their ID. I'm off on weekends and available after 3 on Friday and Monday to help you pick up tix. Don't exclude O just based on what I say. It is the most popular Cirque show in Vegas, it's just not my thing. The acrobatics are amazing, as they are in any show, but the star of O is the stage. It opens up to reveal a deep pool that you can't see from your seats and the actors do crazy flips and dive into the stage. I thought that was awesome, I just didn't get the show because there was no storyline, it is just complete randomness, and that's not for me, I need to be able to follow something. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. I'm not sure how you guys feel about heights, but look into the rides at the top of the Stratosphere and the new ferris wheel at the Linq, which is new and not open yet, but should be opening soon and running by the time you get here. It's supposed to be larger than the London Eye.
In response to your TR, baby goo and drool strings crack me up. For non-parents, it's always gross and parents don't seem to be as phased by child goo, haha! Your husbands face is hilarious! And the Singapore food looks amazing!

If you're going to be photobombed...

You don't have to stay there to see the fountains, you can always walk by there. Keep in mind the strip is a couple miles long and it's a long walk from Excalibur to Circus Circus. But Valet Parking is really expensive and parking anywhere is tough. You'll spend a lot of time going to and fro parking lots. I don't even know much about that "city center". That's all new to me even though we ate at the P.U.B. there, it's kind of a blur in my mind. I know we had a hard time parking.
Seared Mahi Mahi with Jasmine Rice & Singa sauce with a Singapore Sling. Now, before leaving for our trip, I had read up on a few of the drink items that were offered at F&W, and this drink was on the top for being strong. By Disney standards, usually their mixed drinks really arent terribly strong. Great Googlie Mooglie! This was ridiculously strong! In fact, DH and I towards the middle of the drink, each had to force this drink down our throats I would cheer him on, he would cheer me on Because of great teamwork, we finished the drink. Phew!
While we were working on shooting our drink down, DM went ahead to the Mexico booth
Oooh what does she have in her hands? A Taco de Rib-Eye with Salsa de Chipotle and a Dos Equis
The taco was really delicious, and of course, so was the Dos Equis, which I helped DM with. I prefer the Amber to the Lager but this fine on a warm day.
A picture was needed!
I told DM that she couldnt bring her beer inside the building and to hurry up and down it. Good job DM!
I agree. Pick a spot that is closest to what you think you want to do and walk. Cab's are surprisingly pricey and traffic is horrendous. Things that seem close are NOT and A to B is rarely straight unless you are on the sidewalk, they really try to wind you through each casino. I've seen a few Cirque shows, 3 over the years I think, and they are very cool. Definitely worth seeing in my book! I've been to Vegas more times than I can count as well, mostly for work.
I've stayed at Mandalay, Monte Carlo, Cosmopolitan, Palazzo, The Westin and the now defunct Aladdin. Mandalay has always been my favorite simply as it is SO far from the main strip action but for that reason, likely not a great choice for you. The rooms at the Palazzo (connected to the Venetian) were stunning but I really did fall in love with the Cosmpolitan. Very centrally located but not overwhelming at all. You can walk by the fountains, you can walk to the mall (but really, it's just a big mall like anywhere else...and seriously each casino will have it's own mini mall, it's nuts). A funny side note on this, the Forum Shops (Caesars) was the highest rent Starbucks paid for a location. I don't know if that's still true, and I do know Fashion Show wasn't far behind but it was INSANE.
Recent dining that I liked
Bellagio
- Olives. This is a Todd English restaurant. (Blue Zoo). LOVED it.
Cosmpolitan
- The Henry. Kind of simple but classic, great lunch spot
- stk. I didn't eat there as we weren't in the mood for a steakhouse but folks raved about it.
- Jaleo. Spanish tapas. Very fun, we liked it a lot!
Paris
- Mon Ami Gabi. This was a long time ago so I've no idea how good it is these days but we really liked it
Mandalay Bay
Palazzo
- Aureole. Very high end, very special occasion. Worth it.
- Red Square. Russian. Good Borscht and if nothing else, go and check out the ice bar.
- Public House. Gastropub. Liked a lot
- Sushisamba. Super fun combo of Japanese, Peruvian and Brazilian
I'm with Allison on these:
Hotels that I've stayed that I probably wouldn't say you should try your first time are Rio, MGM, Excalibur, and anything downtown. I'd skip Circus Circus and Luxor too but that's me. What I am looking for in Vegas does change quite a bit based on whether it is a work trip, or a couples one but for me I like good dining close by, great pool and a nice room. Proximity to shows is nice but not a must have for me and I could care less about the actual casino's and shopping.
Oh this is making me hungry! I had that mahi and it was yummy! Didn't try the Signapore Sling though...too funny! Love your tee, that is super cute!
Hi Alicia, just started following along on your TR...what an adorable family you have!
Two words...Singapore Sling. OMG...I got one at F&W in 2012 b/c I'm a fan of gin and gin drinks in general, I could NOT finish it, DH had to drink most of it and I felt tipsy after drinking half (and I'm not usually a lightweight). This year I refused to get one but DH did and he was definitely feeling no pain afterwards!
Looking forward to reading more about your trip.
Lovely photos with the characters. Calvin looks so happy on them, makes it worth every penny spent seeing photos like that.
Very exciting going to Vegas. My sister is going back there in September for her best friend's wedding, she couldn't decide where to stay for ages but finally decided on the Venetian, I think.
Have lots of fun planning and researching!
I like the location of both Paris and Bellagio a little bit better. But that said, architecturally, I don't think there is any place in Vegas I'd rather stay than Venetian. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those options.***Getting a little closer to where we'll be staying: Bellagio, Paris or the Venetian but really leaning towards the Venetian. We had looked at the Signature at MGM but realized it would be quite a walk from everything, but the price is super good for a very large room. The Venetian is so beautiful though! Again, thanks to everyone for your suggestions!***
I love but his ride could definitely use some help.Hes a purple dragon. And DH really despises him, but I think hes pretty fantastic. DH didnt ride last time and waited outside with DS, but this was a family affair so youre coming with.
We stopped for a bit last time so DS could play. I think most people hate on it and pass it by because the original version had a much, much better post ride area. After our ride, we actually stopped in ImageWorks (why do I know the name and why are we always the only people here? Do you guys stop and visit?!)
I'm way ahead of you.I really wasnt in the mood for wine, but in the mood for some tequila. Know where Im going with this?
I've never actually tried it, but I've seen somewhere that you can take drinks on it from Cava. I don't know though. We wanted to ride the Gran Fiesta Tour and I remembered I wouldnt be able to take my drink on it (but a booze cruise here would be nice!) so on the ride we went!
I don't know... I mean, I'm glad you enjoyed it. But cucumber margarita just doesn't even sound good to me.and turned around about a minute later with this marvelous beverage a Cucumber Margarita
But whats not to like, right? I mean, he is half me after all
The last thing I need is yet ANOTHER margarita that I need to try at the Ditch, however cucumber just made the list for March! It looks completely refreshing and I'm a huge cucumber fan in general so I think that'll be a good one for me. Luckily DH hates tequila so no sips (or gulps...why when you offer a man a bite/sip of something does it end up feeling like 25% is gone before you get it back!)
What a cute book for DS. I really need to take my time to look around there more often at the little stall in the market area. We have a dinner at San Angel in March, so I think we'll go early to browse (and for me to grab a drink!)
I love the cucumber rita and the jalapeño rita. They are both pretty similar, but the later is obviously just a tad hotter. They are the BEST RITAS EVER! And your family thought you might actually share?
I love that picture of Calvin. That is just TOO cute! What a great souvie!
Fun update!
My first DisMeet was at the Tequila Cave. It brings back fond memories.
That's a great souvenir at ImageWorks. Yes, I did take 'mi familia' to see Figment. We didn't get a picture of us with the teacup but we were too busy playing with the musical instruments in there.
ps. Great choice with The Venetian. I'd love to stay there.

Wow you got some amazing photos with the characters. DS was so engaged and happy!
Yes, we stop in ImageWorks. Izzy had a great time on the musical squares! I love your teacup picture - so cute!!
Mmmmm, that cucumber margarita sounds good!
Well, "newer" as in it was put in during the refurb in the late 90s. Imageworks used to be upstairs and to me (although fond memories could be blurring my memory of it) it seemed like there were more things to do. It was definitely not as high tech as the things they have there now, but there was a rainbow light tunnel you walked through and some things to play with that really do take some imagination. You weren't just playing instruments by waving your hands or standing on a piece of carpet. So this area is 'newer'? As in, there was an older area before? Geez, that place looks really old, like it needs to be refurbished.
I'm not really a cucumber fan... not sure I'd like it.Oh my goodness, Andy it's so refreshing. Do you like Cucumber infused water? It's like that, but with Tequila! Not at all overpowering but you can taste the fresh tasting juices of the cucumber. Delish!
You know what happens when you assume, right?I'm just going to assume your laughing with me and not at me!
