Hi all!
We'll be booking our 4 day for sometime in June 2003. It'll be me, DH, DS9 and DD12.
Any thoughts on the two options of Freeport or Day at Sea?

What is there to do in Freeport?
We're leaning towards the day at sea so that the kids can take full advantage of the shipboard activities.

Any opinions out there??:D

(on 4 day Wonder trip) spent most of the Freeport Day on board the ship...we did the "close" straw market, but didn't want to pay for a cab to see same merchandise we got in Nassau...I enjoyed getting off the ship for a short while...(my inner ear really is motion sensitive)...so I was happy for Freeport port, even thought I only saw what was next to the dock.

We haven't been on a 4-day cruise, but our favorite days on our 7-day Eastern were those at sea. If we ever go on a 4-day, we will definitely opt for the extra day at sea and not the Freeport stop.

I would do the Freeport stop and just stay on the boat and use the day in Nassau as an "at sea" day since there is nothing worth getting off the boat for there! In Freeport we did the Lucayan beach day and that was really nice.

I did the 4 day Cruise in July with the stop in Freeport, we took a cab to Port Lucia (nothing really there) it cost 100.00 round trip for the cab........Did very little shopping, we should have tried the International Market which was closer and would have cost less. But, if I had to do it over again.............I would opt for the day at sea.

Do a beach day while in Nausau then if you are not at sea do a ship day in Freeport. It is really expensive to get anywhere in Freeport and you are taking your life into the hands of your taxi driver, they are horrible drivers!!
There is a little market in the dock area at Freeport, but otherwise the dock is an industrial dock. Enjoy all the ship has to offer. Hope you get a day at sea, they are the best. After 10 cruises we look for lots of days at sea when we plan the next one.

We did Nassau and it was GROSS! There were panhandlers all over the place, it was dirty and you have negotiate for a decent price on anything. We spent about 2 hours walking around and then went back to the ship..sanitized ourselves... and hit the pool!

However, if you do choose Nassau and have a full day, take a taxi to Atlantis. Several people that we spoke to on the ship did this and LOVED it. There's a nice casino and it's a beautiful resort area.

We just got back from FL. and did the 4 day 11/17-11/21. We were supposed to have a day at sea but after we booked we found out Disney had renewed their contract w/ Freeport or something so it then became a day at Freeport and I was not happy at all!
So, that said, I would do a day at sea, not Freeport. We did get off at Freeport, and it only cost us $5.00 per person each way to do the shopping. I was so impressed I can't even remember what it was called, Port Lucaya maybe? It was not the International Market, but the one further than that. So, for 3 of us it was $30.00 round trip. Not sure why the other posters paid $100.00. Our drivers were okay, too. The only difference between Nassau (in my opinion) and Freeport is that in Freeport the people were not as pushy as in Nassau. They were terrible in Nassau and then they act offended if you tell them no you are not interested.
We didn't do any excursions at either place, deciding that we could do it on our own if we wanted to do a beach or something.

I'm just unpacking and want to do a trip report later, but if you have any questions feel free to ask!!

We had a great time!!!
